  1. No advice but just to say that I thought my little one would never nap longer than 40 min (and that was always in buggy or car). She eventually started to have an hour am and pm at around 10 months which became 2 over lunchtime at about a year. Sorry not vey helpful but I have heard that they just get better at sleeping through 1 sleep cycle as they get older.
  2. My 19 month old goes to a childminder close to where I work so we travel there and back together on the bus 3 days per week. She used to have short sleep on the way in but she has recently stopped doing that and it's becoming increasingly difficult to keep her amused. The journey is ony 20-30 minutes but can feel much longer when she shouts at the top of her voice! I take books but they only work for a few minutes. I don't like to get her out of the buggy as she just wants to climb all over the place. Anyone else do something similar and have any tips? Thanks!
  3. I probably sound really boring but I use my daughter's nap time on one of the days I don't work to cook meals for the freezer. Makes evenings after work so much easier if you can just heat something. Also I get everything ready, both our bags, shoes and coats and put them by the door. Plus I lay our clothes out the night before. This is all a bit OCD but we have to be up, dressed, breakfasted and out of the house by 7.30 so necessary! Good luck! I wa dreading my return to work, it's been 9 months now everything's going well, daughter loves childminder and I've learnt to say no to extra work!

  5. Hi belle we also went for the cot option and as you know e is pretty small but seems to be outgrowing it already. It's not so much that she looks big in it more that she moves around so much in her sleep that we hear her bashing against the sides- am convinced she'll injure herself! Reluctant to buy cot bed as nowhere to store cot but like you want to keep her in the cot for as long as possible. Maybe i'm being neurotic?! No advice sorry!
  6. Belle i was exactly the same when pregnant- couldn't bear to ask and a few times got off crowded buses and walked the rest of the way to work (only walworth rd). Maybe it will be different the next time. Luckily i am able to utter a loud excuse me please when people are standing in the buggy bit.

  8. my oh is out tonight so will have to give it a miss this time- must organise another soon i'm gutted tho was out last night so probably would have been asleep by 9!
  9. We have a small 3 door car and I usually climb onto the back seat with my 19 month old then put her in the carseat that way, removing coat is a must!
  10. Probably not very helpful but they do them in the Ikea cafe (a good excuse to visit?!)
  11. We inherited a Vaude one. Have to admit my OH usually wears it. He says it's very comfortable and carried E (18 months) all over the Lake District with it last month- she loves being in it and gets very excited when she sees it. Not sure how much it cost but not all of them have straps which would be a problem for us as E is something of an escape artist! Also has space to carry stuff which is handy. We started using it at about 13 months but E is small.
  12. We got a maclaren footmuff and took off the cover bit in the summer- offers some padding. If it were our main buggy i'd have got a sheep skin- more cosy!

  14. We got some in john lewis. They've got them in john barrett too and in jo jo at the moment plus there are some very cheap ones in sainsburys but looked like they were selling fast not surprisingly! Looked everywhere for size 3 hence trip to jl!
  15. When is the playgroup at St Barnabus?
  16. can't recommend p&t travel high chair enough but as sb says they don't fit on all tables. Found with the cloth one E was much to low down to eat off the table.
  17. This sounds great! Is 19 months too young to start though? She might just wander off rather than participate or is it too exciting/interesting for that?!
  18. We've never had a harness for our tripp trapp just the baby seat/set (?) but it means our daughter can stand up in the chair, don't know if it's because she's quite small and skinny or just an excellent escape artist but I have to keep a close eye on her...
  19. E doesn't say much either and i have moments when i wonder what i'm doing wrong- first born and a girl i expected her to have more words at 18 months. Suppose she says around 20 but many only a few times and seemingly forgotten. She does however chatter away in what sounds like a foreign language and understands lots. She also is more interested in running climbing on everything and jumping off and opening /closing gates/doors! She'll get there..
  20. E is 18 months and i still never know what to dress her in at night! She was born in feb and she wore a sleepsuit with feet and vest then we swaddled her in a cellular blanket then added another on top. Our room's pretty cold in the winter but don't like the idea of cen heating on all night. She was always fine although under the sleepsuit her little feet always felt cold but think that's normal?! Tbh she used to end up in with us most nights on top of our duvet obviously.
  21. 3rd or 10th are ok with me! Looking forward to seeing everyone again.
  22. Same as others re feeding to sleep. Putting down awake sounds so easy but my daughter used to scream. Also at night i found it impossible not to feed her back to sleep- something in the milk makes you both sleepy?! Also i'll try not to worry about what everyone else's babies are doing!
  23. I was really anti dummies but my daughter used to cry a lot in the evenings and it took ages to get her to go to sleep. It helped her settle to sleep although i still disliked the look of it. She rejected it at 12 weeks though and found her fingers which aged 18 months are always in her mouth. Maybe dummies are better...
  24. Like others I used to watch lots of TV whilst breastfeeding (although not at night) she never realy noticed much. Little one is now 18 months and I try not to have it on in the background as I think I tend to watch it rather than talk to her. I put Cbeebies on in the morning while I get ready and after dinner pre bath too. Tbh she doesn't really sit and watch it unless really tired just plays and catches the odd bit. We also have the news on for breakfast- old habits and all that...
  25. I have the chameleon and think it's great. Not wide compared to other travel systems either, I've had no problems on the bus (outside of rush hour). They are also so comfortable to push which was very important to me as had to walk miles and miles every day to get little one to sleep! Have a Maclaren now too and although handy for trips to central London and holidays it's not as nice to push- you have to put your back into it much more! E still in it now at 18 months. Expensive though...
