  1. The website says you can't put "paint tins" in normal recycling: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling/recycling/what-goes-in-recycling And also that you shouldn't take normal recycling along to the tip: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling/recycling/recycling-centres/reuse-and-recycling-centre?chapter=3 But I can't see anything that says you can't take paint tins to the tip. In any case, you definitely can take paint there. Good luck!
  2. I think there are more hardware shops on Lordship Lane than estate agents now.
  3. I'm hoping for an indoor skate park. Or failing that another hardware shop.
  4. "Aware motorists" don't have much contact with traffic wardens. It seems like your "experience of wardening" [sic] actually means you've seen traffic wardens on the street before.
  5. What's your experience of "traffic wardening"?
  6. Why is it important to you that they work alone?
  7. How many enforcement officers should Southwark have?
  8. Cobblers. The number of cars, people and journeys has risen massively since East Dulwich was built, and even since the 70s when the idea you could just drive and park anywhere for free in London took off. That was always a dream, and it's dead. Even if your only desire in life was to provide enough free parking to meet demand, you'd have to copy Denver or Dallas and simply bulldoze half of East Dulwich to create more car parks.
  9. It's gonna be between Leyland SDM (which I like) and Dulwich DIY (which is beloved on here), and not far from Plough DIY and (tbf a couple of minutes further) Toolstation.
  10. How much do you think it should cost?
  11. Exciting times in West Dulwich: a new branch of St Christopher's charity shop has opened up at 2 Croxted Rd (the old Topps Tiles shop on the corner). Just opposite, at 84 Park Hall Rd, is Churchills Wine Bar and Kitchen. It looks very cosy, busy and clean. Seems to be a short menu (which is a good thing- too long and it just means everything is frozen), and a special Sunday roast offering.
  12. This is rubbish. Parking in unlawful places creates hazards, slows traffic, and increases congestion. Overstaying reduces the turnover of safe parking spaces so people can stop while shopping etc. It harms everyone. Just today I saw a guy park on zigzags at a zebra crossing at school kicking out time so he could go and buy a coffee without walking another 50 feet from a legal spot. Another couple of cars were parked in a spot reserved for an ambulance. Too bad there weren't any parking wardens around. It's not like there is a shortage of people parking illegally.
  13. Software isn't perfect. The working conditions for Amazon drivers are pretty bad: subcontractors of subcontractors, most of them are not even close to being employees with any job security or ability to manage a massive workload. If you've got 120 drops to make - stuff is going to get left on the doorstep. You can have it delivered to a lockers, you can use a different company, you can buy in store or you can take your chances... https://pennypost.org.uk/2021/02/confessions-amazon-delivery-driver/
  14. Oh, no, it doesn't!
  15. Not surprised they would move it to a more prominent spot. There's always money in the banana stand.
  16. Visitors went to Kartuli recently and were very enthusiastic. It's Georgian food. https://www.kartuli.co.uk
  17. Danny Beard, in civvies, on the top deck of the 176 at 3.43am, being extremely polite to all around.
  18. It specialises in wine from Georgia, and it specialises in wine from Georgia. </policesquad>
  19. This is just lazy Daily Mail regurgitation. The facts are available here from Crisis: https://www.crisis.org.uk/media/236930/squatting_a_homelessness_issue_2011.pdf
  20. You are being disingenuous. Obviously not everyone has the time to walk up and down Lordship Lane or Rye Lane for their shopping. I don't either. But buying stuff at local shops that aren't Sainsburys doesn't necessarily mean buying expensive or luxury stuff.
  21. If it has an open access hummus mill, I'm in!
  22. They might be behind a counter or something along with fireworks, spray paint etc - I think their sale is prohibited to kids.
  23. Ally Mc Beal and Melrose Place star Courtney Thorne-Smith, being impossibly glamorous recently in Le Cave Du Bruno.
  24. I had the same experience (although didn't bother with complaining). Dead atmosphere, indifferent staff, and tepid food. But I liked the seats and it has clean publicly-accessible toilets 🚻 so that's a good thing to have on Lordship Lane. 😃
  25. There's a new place opposite the Nationwide in Brixton called Taco Twins. I haven't been there. I appreciate that's not East Dulwich but if you're taking the 37, P4 or tube home, it's on the way...
