Is that music the Gala festival already?
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to Abe_froeman's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The closing off of the park is not just 3 days, and the rubbish left behind lasts much longer than 3 days too. -
Interesting opinion piece from someone that actually knows what they're talking about when it comes to the economics of running a small restaurant: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/may/29/running-a-small-restaurant-britain-sales-covid-inflation

Tell me more about the economic boost this festival provides to Peckham vs. the loss of amenity, the environmental damage, the cleanup costs, the noise pollution, and the piss... -
They don't take them anywhere to recharge them. A guy in a little car just changes the batteries. I watched one last night pull up, park on zigzags, swap a couple of batteries, and then drive away on the wrong side of a separate crossing. He did not move any bikes into the bike parking spot while he was there...
-
Or, you know, Lime and the users could just not act like giant fanny when it comes to dropping off the bike. That's another option.
-
It is if you're in a wheelchair. 🤦
-
I do use them regularly and I think they're great...until the scumbag multinationals and fuckwit riders dump them in stupid places. It's not just ugly or inconsiderate, they're dangerous for people with restricted mobility, people with prams, kids, wheelchair users... This isn't just hypothetical - at the risk of repeating myself, last week I personally moved a bike out the way because a geezer couldn't get down the pavement in his wheelchair because of it.

"the proposal to close Turney Road was a “false flag"" One Dulwich previously made friends and influenced people by adapting the anti-black slogan "All Lives Matter" as "All Streets Matter". Now it seems they're going full Q-Anon with their references to "false flag" operations. Will the next newsletter focus on the illuminati, the Gold Standard and ley lines?

CCTV Contravention Warning Notice
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to Alan Medic's topic in Roads & Transport
No - all I can see in the photo is a motorbike and car inside a red circle i.e. "No Motor Vehicles". I can't read the text in the photo. -
Very shittily. Ages.

CCTV Contravention Warning Notice

What does the road sign in the middle of the photo say? -
Went to Lordship Lane for first time in a couple of weeks, and it certainly looks like Lime is saturating the area by leaving bikes around here. I cannot believe there has been a sudden and huge increase in the number of riders dropping them off at the end of a ride.
-
If you see bikes in clusters - it's because vans have dumped them there overnight. Idiot riders will dump 1 or 2 - not not 6-10 all at the same isolated spot.
-
They're everywhere. I had to move one that was entirely blocking a pavement on a street off LL so a geezer who uses a wheelchair should get by. I've changed my tune. I now think they should only be allowed to be parked in designated bays. The companies and the riders are taking the piss. The council should just confiscate and auction the ones abandoned across pavements.

Gridlock:Lordship Lane, East Dulwich Grove
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to MizzyMe's topic in Roads & Transport
Sometimes I like to go out and spend an hour or two walking in circles around the Goose Green roundabout zebra crossings with my Irish setter, Barthomley. It's great exercise and the kids like to count how many circuits we do! -

There was a similar problem with temporary lights all being red a few months ago on Dulwich Village. I wonder if the "failsafe" for flawed setup is that they all go red. -
Looks okay for the next couple of hours: https://m.nationalrail.co.uk/pj/ldbboard/dep/EDW

New Shops in Dulwich / Peckham
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to LondonMix's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
There's a new shop in Dulwich Village, next to Redemption Coffee and Megan's 🤮 It is called Maison Curate. Seems to be a candles, cushions and cardigans type of shop. Not really my thing but it looks nice enough https://maisoncurate.com/ -

East Dulwich Grove before the Dutch Estate
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to ed_pete's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oh, very interesting. I'm surprised - I would have thought there would have been so many bomb sites across SE London that there wouldn't have been a need to demolish existing stock. -
Townley road school restriction
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to Colin Nash's topic in Roads & Transport
Townley Road is not a School Street. Not sure how you'd put the entire school calendar on a street sign anyway... -

Completely predictably, Johnson's million pound private loan (no mortgage applications for him!) was fixed up by...a Tory donor that Johnson subsequently appointed Chair of the BBC. @exdulwicher please award yourself a Mystic Meg medal for predicting this earlier on the thread. https://www.npr.org/2023/04/28/1172695622/bbc-chair-quits-over-links-to-loans-for-boris-johnson-the-man-who-appointed-him
