  1. They might be behind a counter or something along with fireworks, spray paint etc - I think their sale is prohibited to kids.
  2. Ally Mc Beal and Melrose Place star Courtney Thorne-Smith, being impossibly glamorous recently in Le Cave Du Bruno.
  3. I had the same experience (although didn't bother with complaining). Dead atmosphere, indifferent staff, and tepid food. But I liked the seats and it has clean publicly-accessible toilets 🚻 so that's a good thing to have on Lordship Lane. 😃
  4. There's a new place opposite the Nationwide in Brixton called Taco Twins. I haven't been there. I appreciate that's not East Dulwich but if you're taking the 37, P4 or tube home, it's on the way...
  5. It would be great to see that. There are co-working spaces at Oru (Lordship Lane), the Paxton (Gipsy Hill), the building on Rosendale Rd, and (informally) Dulwich Library...
  6. Nigello, you could volunteer as bollard monitor at Goodrich.
  7. It's very good. Best in the area IMO. The chicken nuggets are excellent too. Shame there isn't more seating in their small space. If The Plough let people bring food in from Joseph's, I'd probably be at both places much more!
  8. Free graffiti removal (under 2m elevation) sounds pretty good.
  9. Seems like a corporate decision to more or less exit the retail market rather than anything to do with this particular branch. Perhaps the last minute uncertainty was because they were hoping an independent pharmacist would buy it? Sad for the people who worked there.
  10. It's been a long road to get there but the new buildings finally emerging on the periphery of Burgess Park (North and South) look good from the outside.
  11. The libraries are really good. 👌 We should be proud of them. Burgess Park is very good - and the BMX track is an amazing facility.
  12. Loving the suggestion that London could shortly get overwhelmed by cycle traffic and that banning bikes will be the only sensible solution. 🤣🤣🤣 Let's cross that bridge of wild success and overachievement when we come to it, eh?
  13. It's a huuuuge kitchen they have there. I hate chains but I might be tempted. There's a brilliant Mexican place in West Norwood. It has a tiny seating area and a booze licence, but it's mostly takeway and delivery. Mojo Burritos and Tacos, 18 Knights Hill, London SE27 0HY.
  14. Again, not East Dulwich but near it: Lulu's is a little wine and beer bar in front of Herne Hill Station on Railton Rd, SE24. It looks busy and jolly, if you're into those kinds of things (which I'm not, obviously 😡).
  15. Dulwich is exactly the wealthier part of Southwark where residents own more cars and drive more miles - and yet pay nothing to keep their cars parked on the council-maintained streets where space is at a premium. Unless new rail lines are built, PTAL scores will always be lower around here when buses are slower and less reliable - and the main reason for that around here is cars slowing buses down, and valuable street space being allocated to parking for private cars instead of bus lanes. There's an immense amount of concern trolling on here for the effect CPZs will have on poor and disabled people - but weirdly none of the opponents have any positive suggestions on how to fix the situation, or want to increase tax on rich people more, or improve air quality for sick people, or reduce the number of private cars that are not transporting blue badge holders.
  16. Last updated 08:07 Sunday 01 October 2023 : Delays are possible on diversion. Works | Utility works [A2214] East Dulwich Grove (Both directions) at the junction of Glengarry Road - Road is closed due to a burst water main [A2214] EAST DULWICH GROVE (SE22) (Both directions) https://tfl.gov.uk/traffic/status/?disruptionIds=TIMS-184862
  17. It is, of course, possible to suggest any old cobblers, as proven by the OneDulwich guy and several thousand unhinged posts on here. 🤷
  18. This is completely mad. 50 year old conspiracy theories about bus routes!
  19. Yes, absolutely, the OneDulwich guy should get on board! Meanwhile, someone is spending and taking lots of money spreading anti-ULEZ sentiment through fake accounts on social media. 🤔 https://valent-projects.com/news-and-insights/evidence-of-online-manipulation-in-uk-public-debate/
  20. Whatever the councillor's response was, the shadowy OneDulwich "group" had no intention of accepting it. (Well, maybe if he had performed hari-kiri they would have taken it into account). OneDulwich is just a conga line of Sealions. They're not good faith actors. There is no position except rejection of any measures that interfere with cars, and their espoused concern for disabled drivers doesn't extend to getting out their way! "Sealioning (also sea-lioning and sea lioning) is a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence, often tangential or previously addressed, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity ("I'm just trying to have a debate"), and feigning ignorance of the subject matter.[1][2][3][4] It may take the form of "incessant, bad-faith invitations to engage in debate",[5] and has been likened to a denial-of-service attack targeted at human beings.[6]" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning Has OneDulwich published details of its funding and membership yet? Or have we all just accepted the only identifiable "member" is a single, former PR executive with a bee in his bonnet?
  21. Leave this to schools and police for the sake of all the children involved.
  22. Experienced it - yes. Stopped it - noooo... It's extra terrifying because the screeches sound so close to humans screams sometimes.
  23. It's not Dulwich or Peckham, but... Bistro Chez Lucie has opened opposite Gipsy Hill station. It looks like a very nice, classic, casual French bistro serving all the classics: moules, beef Bourguignon, cassoulet etc. Mains are £16-26. www.bistrochezyves.co.uk
  24. Is this some sort of nonsense where you pretend that someone told you ULEZ compliant vehicles don't pollute and now you're shocked to learn that exhaust fumes are bad for your health?
  25. OP: see if your kids' school has a Safer Routes to School parent rep or teacher rep. They may be able to advise you. I take it you're worried about secondary school kids going on their own? There does tend to be a spate of robberies of schoolkids (by other schoolkids, mostly) each September and October in Dulwich. Anecdotally, each time it's a different group of 4-5 kids that think they've worked out a great scam, so they do it a few times and then they get caught. Riding on Greendale will be safer and healthier than riding on the main roads or taking the bus, so I wouldn't stop my kids riding there. But of course every parent has to make their own decision.
