It would be great to see that. There are co-working spaces at Oru (Lordship Lane), the Paxton (Gipsy Hill), the building on Rosendale Rd, and (informally) Dulwich Library...

Joseph's Fish & Chips, SE22
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to jazzer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's very good. Best in the area IMO. The chicken nuggets are excellent too. Shame there isn't more seating in their small space. If The Plough let people bring food in from Joseph's, I'd probably be at both places much more! -
Lloyds Pharmacy North Cross Road is closing
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to Lynne's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Seems like a corporate decision to more or less exit the retail market rather than anything to do with this particular branch. Perhaps the last minute uncertainty was because they were hoping an independent pharmacist would buy it? Sad for the people who worked there. -
Loving the suggestion that London could shortly get overwhelmed by cycle traffic and that banning bikes will be the only sensible solution. 🤣🤣🤣 Let's cross that bridge of wild success and overachievement when we come to it, eh?

Chipotle East Dulwich now open
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to JamesPardy55's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's a huuuuge kitchen they have there. I hate chains but I might be tempted. There's a brilliant Mexican place in West Norwood. It has a tiny seating area and a booze licence, but it's mostly takeway and delivery. Mojo Burritos and Tacos, 18 Knights Hill, London SE27 0HY. -
New Shops in Dulwich / Peckham
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to LondonMix's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Again, not East Dulwich but near it: Lulu's is a little wine and beer bar in front of Herne Hill Station on Railton Rd, SE24. It looks busy and jolly, if you're into those kinds of things (which I'm not, obviously 😡). -
Dulwich is exactly the wealthier part of Southwark where residents own more cars and drive more miles - and yet pay nothing to keep their cars parked on the council-maintained streets where space is at a premium. Unless new rail lines are built, PTAL scores will always be lower around here when buses are slower and less reliable - and the main reason for that around here is cars slowing buses down, and valuable street space being allocated to parking for private cars instead of bus lanes. There's an immense amount of concern trolling on here for the effect CPZs will have on poor and disabled people - but weirdly none of the opponents have any positive suggestions on how to fix the situation, or want to increase tax on rich people more, or improve air quality for sick people, or reduce the number of private cars that are not transporting blue badge holders.

It is, of course, possible to suggest any old cobblers, as proven by the OneDulwich guy and several thousand unhinged posts on here. 🤷

Lordship Lane Bus Diversion
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to Bic Basher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
This is completely mad. 50 year old conspiracy theories about bus routes! -
Yes, absolutely, the OneDulwich guy should get on board! Meanwhile, someone is spending and taking lots of money spreading anti-ULEZ sentiment through fake accounts on social media. 🤔 https://valent-projects.com/news-and-insights/evidence-of-online-manipulation-in-uk-public-debate/

Whatever the councillor's response was, the shadowy OneDulwich "group" had no intention of accepting it. (Well, maybe if he had performed hari-kiri they would have taken it into account). OneDulwich is just a conga line of Sealions. They're not good faith actors. There is no position except rejection of any measures that interfere with cars, and their espoused concern for disabled drivers doesn't extend to getting out their way! "Sealioning (also sea-lioning and sea lioning) is a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence, often tangential or previously addressed, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity ("I'm just trying to have a debate"), and feigning ignorance of the subject matter.[1][2][3][4] It may take the form of "incessant, bad-faith invitations to engage in debate",[5] and has been likened to a denial-of-service attack targeted at human beings.[6]" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning Has OneDulwich published details of its funding and membership yet? Or have we all just accepted the only identifiable "member" is a single, former PR executive with a bee in his bonnet?

Screeching foxes at night - suggested solutions?

New Shops in Dulwich / Peckham
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to LondonMix's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's not Dulwich or Peckham, but... Bistro Chez Lucie has opened opposite Gipsy Hill station. It looks like a very nice, classic, casual French bistro serving all the classics: moules, beef Bourguignon, cassoulet etc. Mains are £16-26. www.bistrochezyves.co.uk -
High pollution alert - Southwark
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to bels123's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Is this some sort of nonsense where you pretend that someone told you ULEZ compliant vehicles don't pollute and now you're shocked to learn that exhaust fumes are bad for your health? -
OP: see if your kids' school has a Safer Routes to School parent rep or teacher rep. They may be able to advise you. I take it you're worried about secondary school kids going on their own? There does tend to be a spate of robberies of schoolkids (by other schoolkids, mostly) each September and October in Dulwich. Anecdotally, each time it's a different group of 4-5 kids that think they've worked out a great scam, so they do it a few times and then they get caught. Riding on Greendale will be safer and healthier than riding on the main roads or taking the bus, so I wouldn't stop my kids riding there. But of course every parent has to make their own decision.

Acre Lane Tyres (opposite big Tesco in Brixton) have always been great with my family. Very reasonable prices for fitting and puncture repair. They didn't try to rip off or talk down to my mum when she went along not knowing what she needed. https://g.co/kgs/kxwucA

Gail's is replacing Agile Rabbit, which is a shame because Agile Rabbit had great coffee and pizza, and the staff were always really nice. Is Gail's the first ever chain store on that parade outside Herne Hill station? I think the old betting shop might have been a Ladbrokes at one point, but apart from that I don't remember any chains being there. -
One Dulwich have met with Cllr McAsh
Dogkennelhillbilly replied to Rockets's topic in Roads & Transport
In my research, which was limited and amateur, I thought it was odd that I only came across one person who could be identified as a "member" of OneDulwich. And no-one here claims membership, despite this being a bit of a hub of "passionate" (cough) opponents of LTNs. That one person I did come across does double duty speaking for two supposedly distinct "groups" - Dulwich Alliance and OneDulwich. That person has had a long career in PR. And the OneDulwich "group" operates as a political outrider for the local Tory candidates and vice versa. Even though the one (1) identifiable member of OneDulwich has been quoted on the record in national newspapers and voluntarily written to their letters pages, I'm still reluctant to post the links and mention the guy's name because (as this thread has shown) there have been some extremely nasty and personalised attacks by anonymous users against real people. It's easy to research all this stuff online, for free, with a modicum of effort. It's totally possible, of course, that OneDulwich really does have lots and lots of members, and genuinely has a mandate to "represent" a real number of local residents, in which case perhaps their endless wibbling about data should be entertained. I'm sure they have tons of data that would prove or disprove this point, and they have certainly been enthusiastic about transparent sharing of data in the past. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2009/sep/07/astroturfing-energy-citizens-us
