  1. Stradella Rd is all Herne Hill. Burbage Rd north of the railway bridge is Herne Hill. Burbage Rd between the railway bridge and Turney Rd is Dulwich, but not Dulwich Village. Burbage Rd between Turney Rd and Dulwich Village (the street) is Dulwich Village.
  2. The Devil makes work for idle hands.
  3. I'm a fan of the skate park, but I don't live next to it, and if someone who does mentions that it can be noisy - why disbelieve them or suggest they're acting in bad faith? Obviously something is going to be noisier than nothing which is what there was immediately before the skatepark. I assume a skate park would be quieter than a pub on the South Circular...but the noise from a skate park might be harsher and more clattery 🤷‍♂️
  4. Think it was only after the Kings Cross fire that smoking on buses and tubes was banned. Seems totally mad in retrospect.
  5. How dare you suggest I'm not okay 😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬
  6. This, but unironically. Works in Japan...
  7. That's great, thank you for sharing!
  8. The bikes are very good. They're also not going away. The fix is actually easy: require them to chained to railings, lampposts, bike stands etc. The problem is they're just left in the middle of pavements etc. Many of the existing models have integrated locks but users don't need to use them.
  9. Not as simple as that. If there are 4-5 of them dumped in one place, it's probably not renters but Lime's own operatives that have left them there. As far as I can see, they're flinging them out of a van a few of a time. I have seen them dumped right on the bobbled flagstones of zebra crossing etc. This is a problem created by the rental companies. What do you think actually happens if you call that number to complain about badly parked bikes? Did that just yesterday and following regular postings about the issue and calling the number the bike was removed, job done, success. That's encouraging, well done. Too bad you had to do it in the first place!
  10. Why don't you just get to the point and say what you mean? You've obviously got some conspiracy theory going. Spit it out!
  11. What if the consultation was dreampt up by a magic carrot with an ambition to become Nebraska's leading tap dancer?

  13. Car is parked illegally Car is not taxed or MOT'd Car has amusing bumper sticker Car is same as car previously owned by photographer Photographer has Instagram account for boring cars (this exists) Driver of car did something naughty Photographer is very curious Do I get a prize if I guess correctly?
  14. Owners or tenants? You might be able to moan to the landlord or managing agents. You can often find the last rental listing if you Google the property's address.
  15. So what's the point? ... It's about time this council is held to account A consultation is not a referendum. You know this. The point of a consultation is to seek feedback and comments, and get an idea if there are topics that haven't been anticipated in preparation that mean strategy or tactics should be changed in next steps. The best time for holding councils to account is at local government elections, when voters do vote on who should be in charge at the council. Those elections were just held and voters en masse voted to keep going in the same direction. You are just flabbergasted that you didn't get your way on something...
  16. Picturehouse is part of a huge global chain of cinemas. And now the corporate parent is looking a bit wobbly... 😬 https://www.standard.co.uk/business/over-a-dozen-london-cinemas-risk-closure-as-cineworld-reportedly-preparing-for-bankruptcy-b1019758.html
  17. @Siduhe: thank you. Helpful and mysterious in equal measure!
  18. No. You are confusing two issues: scooters and bikes. There is no trial or special licensing regime for the bikes. The hire bikes are just like any other bikes in the world - they don't have to be parked in specific locations. But none of this is difficult. The council just has to enforce the existing laws that prevent people blocking pavements - with bikes, scooters, A-frames, skips, whatever. If there is a procedural problem with fining the owners of badly parked bikes or scooters instead of riders: they should fix it.
  19. Not sure Johnson is capable of that kind of forward planning. You might well see Boris buying cider at Dickson Off Licence and Carrie at the laptop repair place opposite Herne Hill Books.
  20. If failing to water the pitch in summer means it's trashed through the rest of the year, not watering it might be the wrong thing.
  21. Why does Stonegate carry on paying rent on a lease without operating a business? Is it a very long lease and they're gambling they'll be able to get change of use and then sell out?
  22. Council doesn't make any money from bikes, the same way it doesn't make any money from (normal) rental cars.
  23. Ugh, another public school twat in red trousers - just what South London needs... We've had 2 years of conspiracy theorist moaning that LTNs are the creation of a Masonic-cyclist-Marxist civil servant cabal. Now apparently they're I the gift of the Tory grift machine. Perhaps crime will fall outside the house if police are stationed there. The question is whether that will cancel out the criminal activity inside the house...
  24. Or the bikes could just be parked on the street like motorbikes.
  25. Any housing would be better than no housing. Retail/cafe on the ground floor and then 3-4 floors of housing above. The skate park kids should get medals for what they're doing.
