  1. Most Southwark residents don't own a car. Most journeys in Southwark aren't made by car. East Dulwich is one of only 4 wards in Southwark where most households have a car: 41.5% of households in East Dulwich don't have a car. It's not because of PTAL scores - it's because those 4 wards are richer and/or because there is more off-street parking and free (council-provided) onstreet parking. https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/documents/s89832/Appendix%25202%2520Car%2520Ownership.pdf
  2. Nisa doesn't own any stores. It's a franchise/fascia for independent grocery stores.
  3. Jesus overturning the money changers' tables was criminal damage too. Would have loved to hear the EDF Pharisees explain why flipping a table could lead to a spontaneous explosion and take a child's eye out. 🤣

  6. Nightmare. Sorry to hear that OP
  7. Shit on a brick, that's a fair old whack
  8. ab29 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Eh? I think it was a response to the concern trolling about how the Bromley-resident shopkeepers of Lordship Lane were going to commute without free parking. The forum doesn't allow embedded images, but imagine a large photo of Jimmy Hill appearing here.

I couldn't give the slightest shit about the car parking requirements of schoolchildren, and I can only assume your comment there is satirical. I am only fractionally more interested in the car parking needs of staff. Practically no-one else in London gets free parking at work.
  10. That's a horrendous amount of rubbish. The cigarette butts aren't biodegradable (it's not all paper) let alone the ring pulls and cable ties.
  11. Jamie Theakston, ordering pizza extremely politely. Separately, Bob Carolgees, examining a tin of fine wood wax. (The beeswax is better than the petrochemical stuff).

DuncanW Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > articles like this are generally > written by people who aren't from London, Yes - the way he describes Peckham as a black neighbourhood being gentrified by white people shows he doesn't know anything about Peckham. But otherwise his catty thumbnail sketches are pretty on the button IMHO (in my heterosexual opinion).

  15. Not East Dulwich but West Dulwich: Peace & Riot has rebranded as At No 12, and is now a conventional (but still family-friendly) coffee shop and wine bar. Because I'd never been in all the way before, I hadn't realised what a nice space they have. There's also a decent garden/deck. Definitely rocketing to top spot in my favoured W Dulwich places.
  16. Almost word perfect article. Woulda deleted the Piccadilly Circus section because it's a bit hacky.

  19. I have been told that the Dulwich Foundation Schools are organising Ukrainian coffee mornings in Dulwich on a weekly basis. Sign up below. Obviously attendees don't need to have an existing connection with Dulwich or the schools! Link below https://forms.office.com/r/x7SmUmh96t

It turns out the difference between someone (CPR Dave) being ironically stupid and merely stupid is nothing...
  22. Nigello Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > , don't they understand that > practically any gimmick is good for business, Did you go in for a scale and polish at the dentist specially because they had bunting out? Maybe shopkeepers understand how to run shops better than people who don't. 💡
  23. There's a been a social night for Ukrainians being hosted by the White Eagle Polish Club in Tooting - would be worth following the clubs Facebook profile. Also, they have a "boutique" to outfit newly-arrived people with clothes etc. https://www.facebook.com/490333667805651/posts/2043767025795633/ https://fb.watch/dr8kiAAXml/
  24. I would batch up the comics and sell them on eBay with lots of photos and description. You can donate whatever money you make directly to charity.
  25. Only if drivers don't pay attention while they're driving.
