It's that Khan is advocating a "managed decline", it's that if he doesn't get the money he wants, he will have to implement a managed decline plan. The phrase has been used a number of times by TfL/London over the past couple of years when explaining how bad things will go if they don't get the funding. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/tfl-funding-bus-cuts-sadiq-khan-government-elizabeth-line-b1001116.html?amp

Putting children with diverse sen needs > together is not a good idea. It entirely depends on the kid and their needs. Kids have not been helped by a dogmatic insistence on either "mainstreaming" or segregation for all SEN kids.

I can't see anything on there now and Google isn't throwing up any results with the quoted text. I'm probably missing it

If it's so important for their kids to be educated in their faith then they can get their arse into gear and take their kids along to Sabbath School or Summer School.

Spartacus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > He spent the whole journey telling all the > passengers about the bus what it was capable of, Seeing as I've already contaminated this thread with moaning: this is my bugbear at tube stations. I keep wanting to tell the platform dispatchers "just because you have a mic, it doesn't mean you need to gamble into it constantly...". But there, unlike here, I keep my unwanted opinions to myself.
  8. There's sod all money in selling diesel or petrol these days - it's just a hook to get people into the convenience store.
  9. The old trains were always a bit sad and savvy, but at least you could open the windows on them...
  10. How do you know? Could you see the camera behind the mirror?

Penguin68 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm afraid the police will only be interested unless you can allege e.g. > racism or homophobia This is rehashing of "useless Khan WOKE police are captured by the gay lobby and too busy investigating anti-semitic haircuts to arrest burglars" Daily Mail nonsense. I'm not here to defend police and can think of plenty of criticisms and they are too few but my direct experience in this exact neighbourhood is: 1) having reported a similar-ish issue to Safer Neighbourhood Team they responded in a couple of hours and took a reasonable response 2) having reported dangerous and illegal driving through the Met website with photos, they issued Notices of Intention to Prosecute to the registered keepers.
  12. Safer Neighbourhood Team - you can contact them thru. https://www.met.police.uk/a/your-area/met/southwark/goose-green/

Obviously responsibility begins and ends with the owners. A dog is a dog. Is it responsible dog ownership to buy a large, strong dog that's wary of strangers when you live in a busy London suburb with small (if you're lucky) Gardens?
  14. Scrutinising data is fine. It's the barrack room statistifying based on speculation, "common sense" and cobblers, then wondering why it's "confusing" that was unhelpful. The "disagreeing with definition of trip because it doesn't suit my prejudices" was just one example of that.

  16. Angelina Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I am going to miss the forum for conversations > such as this If I can't waste my time bickering about traffic with monomaniacs, I'll probably just have to go back to curing cancer or bringing peace to the Middle East or something...

On one hand, it's just not true that "Dulwich traffic is just private schoolkids' fault". (Heartblock - not saying you say this- just saying that this exists as a meme). It's not just schoolkids, and it's not just private schoolkids. On the other hand, I have zero sympathy for people who have 15 grand a year for school fees and 70 grand for a big diesel SUV, but buying a cargo bike for the school run or paying a childminder to take the kid on the bus is just too, too expensive... (To be fair, there may not be a large number of these people, but they're the most obvious example of everything that's wrong...)
  18. Pret's coffee is milky shite, their pastries are soggy, and their sandwiches have gone to pot. They'll be a smash
  19. Can we run solar panels off all this gaslight? Because we will have solved the energy crisis if so.
  20. I dunno if I'd go as far as Gregg's but I wouldn't mind a Proper English bakery like Ayres Bakery in Nunhead. I like Boulangerie Jade but sometimes you want something a bit heftier for lunch.

Oh jeez, poor kid. Hope they're well. I passed by this spot the other day and agree they're a bit indistinct. Don't think you could have a raised crossing here because of the frequent buses...?

  23. Spartacus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So much negativity towards new businesses on > Lordship Lane. Pret and Megan's aren't plucky little startups, their feelings won't be hurt. I don't want the reasonable mix of independents and small chains we have to be driven out by better-financed chain stores.
