  1. Milk is more calorific than solids until a year milk is still the main source of nutrition Night time breastmilk is very nutritious and also contains chemicals to help them sleep Is she on the move a lot? Is she alert and has enough energy? if you think she's ok and you're happy, stick to what you've been doing, I'd say. I think the more mobile she gets, the less milk she'll ask for in the day. Mine are always too busy if we're out and about. If we're at home, they're mad for milk though.

It is good, very gentle and offers lots of ideas for you to decide on a plan of action that suits you... I asked about bf as in my experience bf babies (like mine!) absolutely LOVE a little milky snack whenever the chance arises...
  3. Y first son wore a grobag in bed. you could cut space for his feet anyway... i think make the cot into a bed first, or just take one side off, see how you go?
  4. SWF: I don't think waking frequently at night is at all unusual. nor do i think there is necessarily a quick fix... babies have short sleep cycles and a propensity to wake when they come into light sleep. Your mission is to help them learn to resettle without your help... easier said than done... be reassured by the time they're 3 they have more adult sleep patterns and are less likely to wake... have you read the no cry sleep solution by e pantley? are you breastfeeding?
  5. Pickle, sounds like he is getting ready to night train... can you try lifting him when you go to bed, for eg? As he's a boy I guess it's not a UTI, but if it carries on, you might see the GP just in case? Is he weeing normally in the day? PS Glad to be back.
  6. The signing classes are fun too, with toys/props and instruments... definitely "good value" as you get a music class with signs too!
  7. See you all in 2 weeks.
  8. Our 6 1/2 yo has had the same routine for a looong time.. into pjs, into bed, with beaker of milk, mr F reads story, brushes teeth (in bed, Mr F takes toothbrush away after) then lights out at sleep. between 7 and 8pm.
  9. I'd say giving a lot of solids at just 6m will only reduce milk taken in the day and encourage even more night feeding, tbh.

We did still take our son out for a week this time last year, though. It was treated as unauthorised absence.
  13. Heber school. for eg, never authorise holiday in term time, and so even if you make a request, it is automatically refused and the absence is deemed to be unauthorised. You can by law be fined ?50 for this! Though I don't know any schools who use fines. You can also be taken to court (though probbaly unlikely for a first offence) This only applies from the age of 5.
  14. I have a nipper side by side (not good for the bus, but v. confy for newborns, very light too) and a jane powertwin (small, fits anywhere, also reclines for newborns, fairly light) and I am told by other twin mums is much easier to push than the P&T which does seem very heavy to me. The Jane can take a carseat clipped in to it, as well. I'd say the Jane fits your requirements more closely than a P&T. But a mclaren and sling would be a better option for the bus at least at first!!
  15. Mine eat fantastically well AND also wake up at night for little milky snacks.. IME the night time waking isn't really hunger, more a desire for some reassurance, contact etc... in that sense I am a believer in the need to "Night time parent" (within the emotional and physical resources available to you!)
  16. Choking is actually them just pushing the food out if it's too big... I started with purees for our babies then quickly moved to a BLW approach.. too lazy to spoonfeed two for long.. sometimes giving them a few spoons of something mashed while also letting them self feed big chunks of the stuff. I haven't fed them at all since they hit a year. They're great eaters. We have baby bjorn bowls and spoons, they're great... http://www.amazon.co.uk/BabyBjorn-Plate-Spoon-Set-Bright/dp/B000NGASSA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby&qid=1255329608&sr=8-1

  21. Went here today and child no 1 had a lovely time. It's not actually a very big place, but the icecream is lovely, and you get it in a special little dish and can have marshmallows and things with it. Yum.

I have asked for it in a second FOI request, though, like the first, it hasn't been acknowledged and I suspect it won't be until i involve my ward councillor. It's sure it's information the Council has at its fingertips, and key to the decision to add in "bulge" classes this year.

Oh no, we don't need to lose a post office! I can't help thinking traffic at the lights is going to be just awful, it took me long enough to get out of Barry Rd onto LL this morning, as it was!
  24. I'm waiting to hear the info about how many places at each schol went to siblings, how many on other criteria, and how many parents who applied on time didn't get offered any of their chosen schools/any local school. I don't believe the problem is just one of late excessive applications.
  25. I do feel that you wouldn't need to be scared about sending your cild to a school in special measures, locally, if there was a convincing action plan.. often a new head... and a good class teacher.
