And Dkq, I xm glad sue is not 'impacting on your life' but if somebody is left without a bathroom, clearly a project is going to have a long term impact on theirs!

I find it very hard to believe it can have taken 23 days of solid work, to achieve so little! I commission major building projects as part of my job, and I would never agree to pay a builder by the hour, but only on completion of the dork, precisely for that reason. I did tell sue that, I would have strongly advised her against such an agreement if I had known (for clarity I will say I am her sister in law) I have looked in detail at the state of sue's house at the end of the process, and it was appalling. I don't know exactly how it came about, but in my view sue would have had a string case in the small claims court. So there you go. Sue feels the work was bodged and she was charged over the odds Dkq feels sue was difficult to work for and is now being unfair It was a shame you didn't manage to sort out mediation at the time! All I know, is poor sue spent her savings, and still has a half finished house. I can't imagine how it cost such a huge sum, for what was quite a small job, in the scheme of things!
  3. Thurs or fri 4-6 is good If there is parking But I firget how you charge ... I prefer drop in sessions and by family!
  4. Stardust, I eonder if they officially do a twins discount? I usually tSke mine to clarks to get the 10% tamba discount ,.. Which applies to all 3 (soon to be 4 needing shoes ... Aargh!) Also, are they good for wide fittings? Child no 1 is h fitting which usually involves ordering shoes in especially
  5. Oh wow! That's brilliant So glad I stored that little snippet away in my head at some point, in case the tip would ever be needed And well done you, for sticking with it through all that!
  6. There was a parents' disco

  12. Phonics is sbout recognising the sounds of the letters and linking it to the shape Jolly phonics has an action snd an Image for each For instance t You say 't' as in 'tennis' and look bath and forth as if watching a tennis match, as you do it A is ants crawling on your arm As well (or instead of) 26 letters you learn Sounds like 'NG' K is the sound for both k and a hard c C appears twice with the soft sound and the hard I wAs a bit doubtful about it but my son went from zero, hardly recognising his own name, to being able to read starter books, in less than 6 weeks! Amazing to see ... He just loves reading now
  13. Having been reading myself before I was 3 I actually felt with no 1 that he might be 'behind' but he wasn't at all Many of the boys in his class actually took well Over a year to learn ... Seeing adults reading, bring read to, audio books, having suitable books available ... All these things are the foundations ESP for boys, it's very helpful to see men reading apparently
  14. Twins are 3.5 and recognise some letters so far Playing games with sound and rhyme (I spy for eg) is a good foundation The jolly phonics system is good if you want to formalise things
  15. My sister was a teacher and just recommended general play and activities ... Child no 1 had a big vocabulary and liked to Be read to Started reception at age 4 1/2, on a jolly phonics programme at by half term he could read However most children took Most of the year to get to grips with it So I would say aged 5-6 is fairly average
  16. Nice idea But lots of typos and too easy to vote 'terrible' by mistake Default should he the middle option Also you should be able to see thd scores right off and add your vote if you want Rather than getting the vote screen first!
  17. Heber Xmas fair on 3rd dec will have a nice one Plus usually a little show Food
  18. EDF-er Elliott popped round to look at breast pumps... knew lunchtime not really most peaceful time in our house (tired children) but it was a convenient time True to form twin II took all her clothes off and baby chewed a piece off my breast pump while my attention was elsewhere lol Is this normal when people have visitors and take their eyes off their children for a moment or is it just mine? make me feel better please!
  19. Ps might improve if currently teething
  20. The only child I ever had much luck feeding was no 1, 4m till about 7m The others were weaned at 6m and I didn't persevere with spoon feeding ... I do think as soon as they have the dexterity (or even if they don't!) they want to DIY Try spreading purees on rice cakes or give them a tommee tippee cup and short spoon with a splodge of mash in, if you don't fancy the blw approach? Or a bit of each? IME they eat very little till over a year Try to think of it as bf them still while offering lies of tastes, textures and practice at feeding technique I don't think there is any link between compliant acceptance of the spoon at 6-9m and later fussiness In fact I think if you make a big deal of it, child likely to be more fussy later on Good luck
  21. When did you start weaning?
  22. Harris girls Jags Dulwich college What sort of sports?
  23. Happy to have a look at it and attach it to some of the bits from mine, if you like, to see if it's faulty? Only I am not about till weds
  24. Try just with thd little tubes ... Put your finger over the end ... Is there suction? You have to run both sides at once, unless one is sealed off by the little stopper at the machine end
  25. Belle I am sure it breaks the rules but cosleeping with my little ones (latest in particular dud seem to fuss and splutter when laid flat) I would angle them slightly towards me with a rolled up blanket on the other side Because I was beside them sleeping lightly and very attuned I never felt it was unsafe Sometimes I would settle for a nap inside thd feeding pillow ...
