  1. Yeah my stomach took a lurch when one of them seemed to be flipping over in mid air, and falling rather too quickly - scary moment! hope they're okay ...
  2. Is this the right thread to ask for an update of when Oyster Prepay will be available on les overground trains, including East Dulwich etc? Is it in place for us to get prepay before the end of this year? Or are we in for a long wait?
  3. oooh yes, I did err with the web address. well spotted Bony Fido! Re running out of bread - yes I agree that it can be annoying. good to hear that you can reserve and pick up later. yes is also a sign of good produce. is also a factor that the bakery itself is not on the premises. if you go to golders green or brick lane or west end land where the big bagel bakeries are, they tend to have the bakery on site and carry on baking all day and much of the night - thus are able to replenish stock all the time and people come in at all hours - it becomes a whole social/focal community point, a bit like a pub but with bread & bagels in place of beer! :)-D:
  4. Hello Georgia et al I see the next Forum Drinks is set for Saturday 6th June - with talk of sunny weather and beer gardens and making a day of it. Am wondering if any consensus reached about start/end time? I have something on in the evening but am not working on the 6th so could come along in the afternoon if you're planning a daytime event. Do we have a venue yet? I missed it in May - was working that Fri nite. Would love to pop along & see you all again. I'll look out for more news! Annie - (Mojito Girl)
  5. new shop just a couple of doors along from the old shop - in what was the furniture place, that was called Shaws or something like that! Didn't make it along there today as I thought it wasn't opening for another week or so - doh! Glad to hear new one is now open and look forward to checking it out. They have a related website is http:www/4andtwenty.co.uk (as in 4 and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie, I presume) :) where you can order their cakes, tarts & pies, if not the bread. The Herne Hill branch of Blackbird gave me the web details. The bakery itself is in Herne Hill too. Their bread is fab - my only request - Blackbird please bake me a bagel! (boiled first, then baked). Please petty Blackbird - so I don't need to keep schlepping to north london to get them! My fave bagels - Ronis in West End Lane, West Hampstead. Lets see what Herne Hill/Dulwich can do!
  6. oh pooh i can't make this Friday! I was looking forward to meeting up again with the chums I made last time - at the Lodge upstairs at EDT - my first time at the Forum drinks. but I'm working at Southbank Centre this friday eve. dammit! have lots of fun - and have a drink for me ... :) hopefully see you in June! 7. yep, the ailses are narrow and always blocked with stock trolleys. weekends are hell in there - I find things much easier on a late Wednesday morning. No crowds to add to the pressure. Most of the 'space' seems to be given over to the Starbucks ... Yep, lots of items often out of stock. Yes, worse, I'd say than other branches of Sainsburys I'm familiar with - eg Camden Town, Edgware, Hendon (and yep, I used to be a North London gal!) yep, just the other day I was charged full price for things which are supposed to be on offer - unfortunately I didn't notice till I got home and checked my receipt. I shouldn't have to worry about it though - the system should be able to recognise when two of the same items are scanned (even if other items get scanned in between) - and charge at the offer rate automatically. That said, I have found the staff to be generally fairly friendly - so no real complaints there. Just a general sense of rather shambolic management and not quite what one expects from a Sainsburys ...
  8. and to photographer andrew too! i'll sign off on this now. am not trying to bump to the top - just include some1 I forgot
  9. Le clique, c'est chic? ta ???? & ta again to charliecharlie and Moos and mathew123 and mockney piers - and to Mike and Raj and Cliff and Janet and Imelda pelmel and Bellenden Belle and sean mg and everyone I spoke to. what a remarkably uncliquey clique - I look forward to meeting you all again next time if not beforehand down the lane or on the bus or on the train .. Annie x (mojito girl) - with thanks to charliecharlie for that moniker (tu) :))
  10. Hello Forumiters, A huge thanks from me, Annie (or AnnieW on here) for the really friendly reception I received as a first-timer to the EDF drinks last night. I walked in alone and wasn't sure what to expect but you were such a lovely, welcoming bunch and I got to chat to many of you. So thank you Georgia for organising it and to all who came along and said hello! Annie (with the mojito)
  11. i'm hoping to come along too. i've already been upstairs to check out the feel of the Lodge - nice place :)but not yet sampled their fare. looking forward to it and to meeting some other forumites. ahem I'm not bringing anyone else & i'm hoping for a welcoming & friendly bunch! see you soon
  12. Hello Miffy, this sounds great - couldn't make the first one - (damn I missed the boat as a pioneer!) - but looking forward to another. will keep an eye out in What's On. Thanks and Well Done for showing initiative O Proactive One! >:D<
  13. Here's the link to the tfl page about work at Tottenham Court Rd which affects the 176: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/archive/10874.aspx Annie - Dancing Tree Creative Catalysts
  14. Tis me who started the previous thread on this - and just to recap, it's apparently to do with redeveloping Tottenham Court Road station to include a new Crossrail station etc. Last time I came back from town on the 176 they were still starting in St. Giles something or other - sort of behind Centre Point somewhere, very hard to find (although clearly I DID eventually find it!) The driver tole me that the first stop may be moving again to round the corner from St Giles as one of closed roads was due to re-open. Don't know when the 176 will start going through to Oxford Street again - if ever. But certainly not in the immediate future. As for not removing the 176 sign from the bus stops in Oxford Street - erm, as far as I know they HAVE been removed. But when I got caught out there was no messages on the bus stops explaining WHY. And as I didn't know which of the many stops would have normally been a 176 stop, it wasn't till Great Titchfield Street (where I knew the 176 should have stopped) that I realised there was something fishy going on. Still I walked all the way to former beginning of the route in Vere St by the side of Debenhams - and it was only when I reached there that I found notification that the 176 starts and stops near Tottenham Court Road now. More info on tfl. If I can find my original message about this i'll post the link up again. have a luvverly weekend! Annie Dancing Tree Creative Catalysts
  15. btw, although the front of the bus shows it stops at Tottenham Court Road, the announcements inside the bus are still saying and displaying "176 to Oxford Circus"! Hmmmm, helpful, huh? :-S Annie Wigman Dancing Tree Creativity Coaching - La Sparkletta Radiates Creative Sparkle
