  1. Grow your flow - A yoga workshop on Saturday 7th July 12-2pm at Zen Yoga, Camberwell Grove

I am super excited to invite you to my Grow Your Flow yoga workshop. It is a vinyasa based workshop that will help you to take your yoga practice deeper, with integrity, and is open to all levels including beginners.

We will explore how to sequence a balanced home vinyasa-style yoga practise that gives you what you need day to day. We'll cover with the traditional elements that make up a vinyasa practise; how to feel more confident with your home practise, without a teacher; strength-drills to practise to build strength and muscle memory; finding inspiration for your own yoga practise; and finally introducing yin yoga to balance out the yang.

Plus, we will work on strength-building drills that will help you to build both muscle memory to gradually work towards arm balances and more challenging transitions. Through this strong vinyasa based workshop we?ll be learning which muscles need to wake up and engage to get in to certain asanas and even giving poses like crow and koundinyasana a go!

    WHO'S IT FOR?

This workshop is open to anyone ? current yoga practitioners, beginners looking to understand more , or teachers wanting to grow their own practice and learn new transitions and drills to help work towards some of the "bigger" poses.

    WHAT TO EXPECT?

You'll leave with a greater understanding of the different types of yoga asana and how to create yoga sequences

You'll leave inspired to start or develop your very own self-practice.

You'll leave with a greater awareness of your own fluctuating personal needs - body and mind - and how to practise in order to meet these needs, which change day to day.

You'll leave with a knowledge of how the seasons effect our self and energy-levels and learn how to adapt your practise with the seasons.

You'll leave with some excellent strength-based drills to work on that will help you to work towards some arm balances and "bigger" poses.

Join me for a fun filled two hours or email for questions at [email protected]

  4. This workshop is designed to strengthen and free all those muscles that have been strained, shortened and tightened after all those years of sitting on chairs or sofas for long periods, running or cycling, and simply not moving the way you were designed to move.

The hips and spine (and hamstrings which are muscles of the hip) were designed to have freedom of movement, to bend with ease, to be supple.

Sitting for long periods, whether that's at work or at home as well as the limited range of movement in our daily lives can cause these muscles and the fascia around them to contract and tighten, causing what we know as ?stiffness? or an inability to touch our toes or bend backwards with ease.

In this two hour workshop, we will explore how to cultivate a greater range of motion and strength in key areas of the body: the spine and all the muscles of the hips including the hamstrings. We will explore how to cultivate a greater awareness of the core muscles, how to access greater range of motion, both passively and actively, in key areas of the body, and how to release tight hips and hamstrings using dynamic movements.

This will not only help to improve the flexibility and strength, but it will also help alleviate back and hip pain, improve your posture, teach you how find freedom in these areas with yoga poses and exercises that you can take back home to your own mat. We will also explore the function of hips, shoulders, abdominals, and limbs in creating a strong and supported backbending practice. The workshop ends with exercises that unwind the spine, savasana, and meditation.

If you want to get stronger in your core or have tight hamstrings, weak hip flexors, or have back pain, this workshop is for you! ALL levels of practitioners are welcome. No need to bring a mat, just bring a pen and notebook.

*Healthy treats provided after the workshop

Tickets are ?30 (this includes the eventbrite charge).

    All levels welcome!

  8. So after several requests for repeats of my Hips, Hamstring and Spine workshop, I am excited to present my brand new workshop in which we will explore the hips, hamstrings, shoulders AND spine in an exciting, new way: moving through Mandala vinyasa, talking about the chakras and the elements, and softening with yin yoga at the start and end.

Based on the elements in the Mayan calendar, join me on a Mandala Vinyasa and Yin yoga journey through Air - this day is an Air day!

In Mandala yoga we move 360 degrees around our mats, using our breath to carry us through each asana. The pace is slow, the practise is strong. Modifications and options for each pose are offered and every level of practitioner is welcome!

On an Air day as based on the Mayan calendar, we focus on opening the shoulders and lengthening and strengthening the quads and opening the hips to allow us to go deeper and more safely into backbends and heart openers. We will stimulate the Anahata chakra, our heart centre, leaving you feeling open to possibility, abundant and energised. We will also go deep into the shoulders, hamstrings and hips in our yin practise at the end, to balance the element of Air and provide grounding with the Earth and Water elements.

Props will be provided for the yin yoga to allow us to go deep into the connective tissue and soften into the poses. We will end and start with a short meditation, focusing on the element of Air.

This 2 hour session will start and end with yin yoga to compliment the subtle and physical body that we will be working on the day.

Tickets are ?30 (this includes the eventbrite charge).

  17. *Update* - Only 5 tickets left.

This workshop is designed to strengthen and free all those muscles that are strained, pushed and tightened as you sit for long periods, run or cycle or similar.

This will not only help to improve the flexibility and strength, but it will also help alleviate back and hip pain, improve your posture, teach you how find freedom in these areas with yoga poses and exercises that you can take back home to your own mat.

    What to expect:

We will move with ease and fluidity through a creatively sequenced flow and strengthening exercises. We will then melt into a slow, soothing Yin yoga practise, using props to help us lengthen and free up the muscles and fascia of the hips and spine. We will end with an utterly relaxing session of yoga Nidra - a practise of complete stillness and rest.

This is a physical practise with lots of time for questions, chatting and laughter! No previous yoga experience is required and beginners are very welcome. All props and mats provided, just bring yourself and something warm to wear for the yoga Nidra at the end.

  19. This workshop is designed to strengthen and free all those muscles that are strained, pushed and tightened as you sit for long periods, run or cycle or similar.

This will not only help to improve the flexibility and strength, but it will also help alleviate back and hip pain, improve your posture, teach you how find freedom in these areas with yoga poses and exercises that you can take back home to your own mat.

  20. This workshop is designed to strengthen and release all those muscles that are strained, pushed and tightened as you run, cycle, workout or sit for long periods.

Sitting for long periods whether that's at work or at home as well as running and cycling is known for causing tight hamstrings and hips, and don't work the body evenly, so we will explore how to cultivate a greater range of motion and strength in key areas of the body: IT band, spine, hamstrings and hips.

This will not only help to improve the flexibility and strength of your hips and hamstrings, but it will also help alleviate lower back pain and improve posture.

We will go deep into those hips and hamstrings with a creatively sequenced flow and some slower Yin yoga, using props to help us lengthen and strengthen the muscles and fascia of the lower body.

This is a physical practise with lots of time for questions, chatting and laughter! No previous yoga experience is required.

    *Yummy, healthy treats included!

  22. A Yoga Workshop for Runners and Cyclists

    Saturday 16 December / 12-2pm / ?25 with Sarah Fretwell Yoga

This workshop is for those of you that run or cycle as part of training, and is designed to strengthen and release all those muscles that are strained, pushed and tightened as you pound the streets, treadmill or amp up the miles on your bike. Running and cycling are known for causing tight hamstrings and hips, and don't work the body evenly, so we will explore how to cultivate a greater range of motion and strength in key areas of the body: IT band, spine, hamstrings and hips. This will not only help to improve the longevity of your running and cycling, but will teach you how to stretch safely afterwards, how to breathe correctly to maximise your potential and how to alleviate lower back pain sometimes caused by both these activities.

This is a physical practise with lots of time for questions, chatting and laughter! No previous yoga experience is required.
