  1. Experience tells me that the main worry about disc locks is forgetting them and riding off with them on. No brakes destroyed but a very embarrassing low speed crash! A mate once managed it at the Kent Custom Show on a Z1000 Eliminator, completely loaded with tents etc and panniers and pillion, then rode 6 inches with the disc lock on then keeled over. My how we laughed. I refer you to my answer before. If one's got a disc lock on and one hasn't they'll take the second one.
  2. Sainsburys Local out of rice.
  3. I could lift a Vespa up on my own and put it in the back of a van if I wanted. Chain it to something; lampost, grid, drain, maybe invest in a ground anchor. Put a cover on it, and make it a tatty cover. Lock the cover to the bike also. Essentially have just a bit more security than the next one, then they nick his instead of yours. You're right to query the sold secure etc ratings by the way

  6. Heard Gold (or Sullivan) on Sky this morning when asked if he thought the statement was an error come up with the answer that if they win tonight it was all down to him galvanising them with the statement. If they lose maybe an error (or more likely blame Zola).
  7. Was it Nigel? Has he converted?
  8. Let's hope Barry contributes more for England than he has for City all year.
  9. What they say. Even in the basically impossible event of them tracking you down the ticket's not valid so just ignore it.
  10. J M Conway signs appeared on lamp posts last night on Melford Road warning cars would be moved on the 10th ie today. There has been no prior notification of this.
  11. Especially if they're on a bed, just looking a them gives me the heeby jeebies.
  12. Sister Kevin?
  13. Cheerio then. Unless it's you that's banging around 10pm every night on Crystal Palace Road?
  14. So we have both good and crap Irishmen in England.
  15. MitchK Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Quite right. There is no way I would send my > children unsupervised on public transport in South > London until they were 16. Seriously? If you said 12 I could maybe understand it but 16 seems a bit over the top.
  16. Or, by the same analogy, if some people use guns to kill people we should ban them too! Oh.

  18. ISP is BT. I might be being daft but the one you referred to talks about proxy servers, and mine refers to an automated programme, different shurely?? Anyway I gogogled around the chrome help and it came up with some bits to will try that. To refer to an earlier post though this is Chrome specific for me, it doesn't happen on Avant, IE, or Firefox. No worries anyway.
  19. Hmm, the error specifically states "The automated program you are using is not permitted to access this server. Please use a different program or a standard Web browser" without any mention of proxies. When I was unable to access the forum from work I had a different error which specifically mentioned proxy servers. Any idea what it's referring to when it talks about an "automated programme"? edit - double post as I got the error when attempting the first one!
  20. Nope. I used to get an error screenfrom work as it goes, but not one that said "The automated program you are using is not permitted to access this server", the one I got at work talked about proxy servers specifically. Chrome is set up as default, no idea if that involves proxies.
  21. Trying a new browser I've had this flash up a few times, everything's OK on a refresh though. Is it them or you? "Error 400 We're sorry, but we could not fulfill your request for /forum/list.php?20 on this server. The automated program you are using is not permitted to access this server. Please use a different program or a standard Web browser. Your technical support key is: 5690-651e-7ad0-4a8a You can use this key to fix this problem yourself. If you are unable to fix the problem yourself, please contact db at eastdulwichforum.co.uk and be sure to provide the technical support key shown above."
  22. Given the smattering of snow today I'm betting someone looks at the title of this thread and panics ;-)
  23. Wherever I've worked in the private sector if you got a parking ticket using a company vehicle you had to personally pay, does this not apply here?

  25. Easy tiger. This whole thing came up as people were getting away with stuff in their sigs that were against then general rules, and newcomers said 'Hold on, why can 'x' do it and I can't?'. So it was all standardised, as some screamed up when they got dragged into line.
