  1. Captain Marvel sent this track to me and I converted it (twice) to upload to Youtube. https://youtu.be/2sHJhX6d-O4 = version 1 = version 2 Both the same, but version 2 shows logo/badge for the band.
  2. Thanks for the Skewiff track, will try and get it uploaded to Youtube in due course. Meanwhile a few piccys for you all.
  3. If it hasn't already been said, I was checking on line about speeding and the police can enforce the speed limit even if you are 1mph over the limit, and the fine worked out on how much over the limit and on what you earn. Check here for more info https://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/blog/speeding-fines-tickets-how-much-to-pay From what I have heard, most police forces do not have to enforce the 20mph, but I would imagine that it depends on how many accidents happen within the areas that they apply in. rollflick said, QUOTE "Though police (or speed cameras) won't normally enforce unless you're going at 10%+2mph over a speed limit, they will in certain circumstances." I believe that government "advised" the 10%+2mph idea, but that the police are within their rights to still book you at 1mph over the speed limit and fines work on a sliding scale. I know of two people that have been done for being 1mph over the limit. Community Speed Watch work to the 10%+2mph but this means that at 30mph 10% = 33 + 2mph = 35, so to not get clocked you must be at least at 34mph, if you are doing 35mph you will get clocked. However Community Speed Watch will not get you a speeding ticket, you will be contacted by the police to tell you that you were speeding, if you get reported a second time will likely result in a knock on the door from the police & your registration will be put on to the police database, and this will mean that any community speed watch nationwide reporting a third offence, will likely get the driver a fine and points or the option of a speed awareness course, where you will pay the equivalent of the fine to go on the course, but receive no points, so at least you won't have to tell your insurance company. If you have already been on a speed awareness course within the last 3 years, you will not be able to opt for that choice again and will get a fine and points. That said, depending on your insurance company, if you have an accident they may say that you should have told them about the speed awareness course, and try to void your policy. Just an after thought knowing how insurance companies like to try and avoid paying out when they can! My 2 pence worth on this, if I can slow down to drive through your village or area, then you can do the same when you drive through mine!
  4. I believe you will find that Mel did sing for Shadowfax, but it was only a one off, which I believe was one night at the Newlands Tavern. After that they has a Welsh guy called Brian that sang for them. He also got them a gig in Wales, which was at Barry Island, I can't remember the name of the pub, but I know it did happen as I drove them there in a van, and we stayed at one of their houses that night. How we got there in one piece after the gig I will never know we were all totally smashed that night! Tony (Churchy) Church is alive and well and lives in Downham.
  5. Some good stuff here about Bon. Thanks for the links. I used to walk my dog Toke up Overhill Road at nights, around the block of flats that we used to call the battleship, as that's what it looked like from over by Horniman's museum, as I used to live on the corner of Underhill and Overhill Road, well the 1st house around the corner. After I heard about Bon I have often wondered if I had walked past the car he was in when taking my dog out, I used to stay up quite late in those days, toking the night away. Yeah most of us liked to get wrecked one way or another.
  6. If anyone is still interested or has any more to add to this thread Keith Arnold can also be found on Facebook, and from what I can make out would still be interested in any information. If anyone has any old tapes they recorded of the band I would like to hear about them or indeed get copies, so that I can covert them to upload to Youtube and even Facebook.. I'm sure that Keith Arnold would also be interested. Thanks in advance. Steve.
  7. Oh right, I forgot about that. Sorry if you thought I was being a bit of an idiot about it.
  8. Sorry bsand, this still has no reference to the band Shadowfax. the band also had nothing to do with Wilson's school, or the bike shop in Peckham.
  9. Sorry bsand, I don't understand the message what has Mr. Wilson got to do with the band Shadowfax?

  12. Mark, thanks for setting this site up, although I have now lived in Cornwall for 20 years, I used to live in Underhill road 19 years previous to that. I was looking for a band called Shadowfax that I used to roadie for and a google search found a link somehow to this site. There was a thread about the band and I may now be able to contact people that I knew all those years ago. Not everybody uses Facebook, I myself do not use twitter, and other social media sites. One I wouldn't mind mentioning though is one called ello, as like your site they do not use advertising. Thanks again and keep up the good work. Steve.
  13. I can't find Mel Donovan on Facebook but did manage to find Tony Church (Churchie) for any of those of you that are interested. Churchie on Facebook is here https://www.facebook.com/tony.church.79 He has a channel on Youtube which is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1_1ekgkjl9XFiuiySiuEnw Check in and have a listen.
  14. No Sue, I don't use my phone for internet stuff. Did you used to go around with Christine?
  15. "Touchmenudger" do I remember them, I used to live next door to Keith Shears the bass player, and new the other guys as they used to play nearly every Sunday in Keith's mum's house. It used to save me some electric as I never had to turn my stereo on (LOL). I even had a go at trying to sing for them, but unfortunately couldn't get anywhere near the mark to be any good. Another little less known claim to fame for East dulwich, was Bon Scott of AC/DC who died in Overhill Road, which was just up the road from Keith's House and my place around the corner in Underhill Road. Anyway, I remember Darryl, and had one of his ex-girlfriends staying with me who was called Leslie, and who used to go around with Lou, who at the time was going out with Pete, who always reminded me of Robert Plant / Roger Daltrey with his hair being a similar style, but I remember Phil even more as I knew his wife, Linda (Emma's Mum), I was even invited by Lin to Phil's funeral, quite an honour really as no-one else was allowed. I did a little roadieing for Shadowfax when they were 1st starting out, as I used to work for a paint company and now and again got use of the van, if not, me and Martin used our little Bedford Beagle vans, to take the gear to the Newlands Tavern, which thanks to the internet I now find is called The Ivy House, we also used to go to The St. Germains on Brockley Rise, we all used to call it the St German's where Shadowfax used to play. One time I drove the band to Barry Island in Wales, as at the time Shadowfax had a singer called Brian, and he arranged a gig there, I remember vaguely managing to drive them back to Brian's house after the gig, well over the limit on drink, and the next morning wondering how the hell we managed to get back. Brian came down to London with a few of his mates and they all crashed around my house one night, making use of the armchairs, by putting them on end and making a sort of bed, surprising what can be done on the spur of the moment. IF ANYONE HAS ANY RECORDINGS OF THE "SHADS" PLEASE UPLOAD THEM TO YOUTUBE, or, CONTACT ME or, [email protected] Listen to both sides of the single here Added bonus is that Churchie has uploaded his Shadowfax stuff and also some of the other bands music that he played with. I have added a list of the singles below (somewhere), HAPPY LISTENING!
