  1. Thomas - seriously....sod off. Leave local businesses alone and let consumers decide whether we want foie gras or not. I don't mind you hectoring from the forum about your ethical choices - christ knows I've done that often enough to drive Otta insane - but to start campaigning and lobbying local businesses with a distinct lack of broad support is worthy of the worst WI. It's interfering busy-body behaviour of the self-righteous. I rarely eat it tbh....not for ethical reasons, or taste but just....because. But in no uncertain way do I want you dictating to local businesses what they should and shouldn't stock and sell. Loz - I'm with you. Placards outside Franklins tomorrow at noon? "What do we want?" "Goose liver on toast!" When do we want it?" "Just after Micklewright takes the stick out his arse"
  2. Don't feel sad Ted - TLS had many "ladyfriends" of various ethnicities.....plenty more fish in the multicultural sea.
  3. Thomas - have Franklins, EDT (who have never served foie gras anyway) and Beuberry House stopped serving because of your campaign? If so, could I less than politely asked you to stop it and bugger off. Quite frankly, what business is it of yours where I spend my money and what on? And why are you the moral arbiter of food production who is now preventing me from being able to eat what I like, where I like? If you don't want to eat it - fine. Don't. And take your money elsewhere too. But leave those of us with tastebuds to enjoy our dead animal pieces in peace. Bloody busy-body! I'm going to lobby Franklins to serve it again so we can enjoy eating it once more.
  4. Whilst I applaud the attempt to make the the station more user friendly, that bridge doesn't look very in keeping with the architecture of Denmark Hill station. It's all glass and metal when the station is attractive brick. I appreciate the costs involved but this is the sort of attitude that led to Peckham Rye station becoming the abomination it is now.

  6. There could be a "Forum Threat Level" posted at the top of the screen to identify how many weirdos are hanging around at the present time. The threat levels could be named after weirdos from the past. Nuclear: Big Bad Wolf Red: MikeCG Amber: Tony London Suburbs Yellow: SteveT Green: Louisa It's like a DefCon for the strange. Alert - The forum would like to draw your attention to today's threat level which is STEVE T. Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, mild racism and misogyny to a member of forum staff. Your assistance is appreciated
  7. Ouch - it's getting worse for Hari. I had sympathy initially but it's running low with each new example of his bucket scraping.
  8. Or combinations of the three. "The threat level was today reduced from Curtly Ambrose to Anvil. We expect Tomas Stillington 3rd by next month."
  9. Look for press reports on a shortage of bear livers and toad skins..... Follow the trail.
  10. *a small tear falls from Carnell's face* Dearest Moos - it's happened to us all. Persevere.
  11. Well I can report the Crooked Well on Camberwell Grove was bloody superb. A rabbit and bacon pie for two, one roast beef, one gazpacho soup, one chocolate torte and lots of booze equalled the best roast I've had in a long time. Service couldn't have been better either. A difficult site that hasn't done great in the past so go now and support an excellent local business.
  12. Alan - seriously, you'll scare the horses by bringing these old threads back to life. People don't like remembering the past. It's too much like the blitz.
  13. Are you some sort of weird groupie, Alan? Resurrecting a four year old thread has "stalker" written all over it. Or "husband".
  14. Dad was a rocker. Got to be a mod then, haven't I?
  15. SJ, myself and BellendenBelle will be checking out the delights of the Crooked Well in Camberwell today. We can report back but by then it will be too late. The usual suspects all do something decent but tbh, I'm not sure you can ever beat a home-made version. Doesn't have to sit around drying out and fresh spuds make all the difference.
  16. ????, c'mon man....play fair. Whilst even the most liberal amongst would agree that the print unions were particularly thick-skulled when it came to recognising the need to accept modern technologies (and given I' the son of a printer that's saying something), the methods employed by Murdoch and Andrew Neil were despicable. These were men who knew their skills were about to become historical footnotes and were clinging on to their jobs and futures. And "highest paid workers in the country" is deliberate erroneous hyperbole. The take-it-or-leave-it approach and sackings of anyone opposed to the move to Wapping was one of the most cynical and self-serving moves in the history of journalism. The behaviour of the EETPU was disgraceful. Something died in the media that day - it was a no-turning-back moment. An interesting tid-bit from the Grauniad this morning is that the new offices in Wapping didn't even have a library. Perhaps the desire for true research, facts and decent journalism was left behind on Fleet Street. The non-recognition of the NUJ by NewInt speaks volumes.
  17. Well if you're just highlighting columnists/commetariat you disagree with we might as well shoot fish in a barrel.
  18. Could we call it the "Twat Tracker" and include all the other sociopathic nut jobs that come and go repeatedly too?
  19. Piers ! = Moos
  20. Summer pudding - which by coincidence was this week's "how to make the perfect...." in the Guardian. http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2011/jul/06/how-cook-perfect-summer-pudding I have the rose water to save you buying some if you'd like. Hope it goes well.
  21. Otta - I'm suggesting that the "no better than a tabloid" smear that ???? and others have used in the past has, in this instance, been proved incorrect. Personally I think it's incorrect full stop but I know I'm banging my head against a brick wall on that one. Mamora Man - I would suggest errors in the Guardian are no higher than any other paper....do you have info to suggest otherwise?
  22. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > hey deserves to be banned for being really > childish and unpleasant. > > > Standard MO in the Drawing Room as far as I can > see meow...
  23. And the whole "carbs make you fat" thing is crap too. Look at Asia - an entire continent devoted to rice and noodles and yet incredibly low obseity rates. Eat less. Move more. Lose weight. The rest is marketing bollocks.
  24. Heehee - how does that humble pie taste? I never suggested that the two were linked. I'm merely pointing out that no other paper has come close in exposing this scandal other than the Guardian. Smug, sanctimonious.....perhaps. Right....absolutely.
  25. Coulson to be arrested this afternoon. And the sun is shining. Oh, and the domain name "sunonsunday" was registered two days ago. Ahem.
