  1. As broadcast earlier today by Tfl at bus stops with update screens "63 buses are on diversion or subject to delays due to inconsiderate parking on Therapia and Marmora Roads SE22" (or words to that effect, sorry can't quote word for word, but that's the jiste of it), "resulting in 63's either terminating at Peckham Rye" or appear to having to go to Brockley Rise to turn around. The NIMBY's seem to be 1-0 up at the moment following some "strategic parking". Will be interesting to see TfL's response. Any views on this from the councillors?
  2. Why bring Brockley Rise into the discussion? It's got nothing to do with the 63 using Therapia and Marmora roads while the road works (that not all of us wanted) are implemented. Perhaps concentrating on key issues rather than causing mischive would be more productive. Presumably the increased frequency of the 363 will continue whilst the 63 continues to terminate at Peckham Rye.
  3. Also hit and run accident on Canonbie this morning, severe side swipe leaving an Astra in what I can only describe as a write off state.
  4. I was commenting purely on what I had observed today when I was going and returning from the weekly shop. It may have been your wifes suggestion, just means no 63's any further than Peckhama Rye and a need to change buses there. IThere is the choice of course of taking the P12. 5. my mistake, I meant Tuesday.
  6. 63 terminating at Peckham Rye this morning with at least 4 x 63 buses parked up there. You'll need to change to the 363 to get to Forest Hill Road, interestingly there are signs for the 63 to turn into Therapia. 363 driver said no 63's were coming up FHR. Certainly seemed as though the 363 had increased in frequency. Will be interesting to see what happens on Monday morning.
  7. Going past yesterday afternoon about 3pm it looked like a black car had been hit or crashed, no sign of a bus that I saw from a distance though.
  8. I get my fresh 1/2lb burgers from W.Bunting on Peckham Park road and cook at home, the best damn burgers I've had and only cost ?1.50. Have been using W.Bunting for a few years now on a weekly basis, get well looked after, personal service with great cuts of meat. Had a piece of top side beef for roasting last weekend, cooked it rare and was supurb.
  9. As Vik wrote - this was the way things were before the traffic lights where installed. Appreciate it will cause some disruption, but this is only temporary while the road works are completed : ------------------------------------------------------- > It used to be permanent until the mid 80's. 10. Maxxi - like your fish image So, see what the competition are doing and offer something unique, perhaps grilled fish, or different fish, or scallops, or prawns etc. In terms of modernise, the Dolphin looked tired, drab and old, it needed to be brought into the 21st centuary. If Sea Master can do it so could have the Dolphin, or they just decided they'd had enough and sold the lease on??
  11. IMO the Dolphin's demise was due to increasing costs, not adapting or modernising resulting in dwindling custom and so not competing with Sea Master. It was only a matter of time before the Dolphin ran its course. Any replacement / kebab shop will need to offer good quality produce to gain a following.
  12. Another greedy landlord. If landlords could only be reasonable, that would contribute to shops not having to move or close.
  13. If the initial posting proves to be true it will be sad to see them sell up, I hope the rumour is NOT true and they can continue to serve the local community. Any ideas on what the "former" Dolphon Fish Bar is to become?
  14. Can you desribe what the problem is, so people may have suggestions to fix it.
  15. Yep, the costs I quoted are taken from the agents details, see edhistory's 8.33pm post with attachment.
  16. It's no more possibly due to poor service?? More likely to have resulted from not meeting rental costs etc and hence being booted out. I would not like to see it become a nando's or 24hr Wimmpy, the building is not suitable for this. But at a rental cost of ?35k per annum plus business rates at 7k, turnover needs to be ?3.5k per month plus staff costs and other overheads before any profit can even be made. Whoever take this on will need to have substantial rserves to make a go of it. Someone who runs it as a resturant/cafe/coffee bar will need to consider opening early to catch those going to work, available for lunches, afternoon teas and evening meals. It is a massive committment and carries a huge risk factor, however its position is excellent.
  17. Co-op energy for gas (PM me for a code to get ?25 of your first bill, still with EDF for electricity although looking for a better deal on this, The Post Office for telephone.
  18. Does a roof box contribute to reducing MPG?
  19. Sorry to see a voice of reason depart sunny EDF, good luck in deepest Corwnall

  21. "Lordship Lane Post Office costs ?1.48 to run for every ?1 of commission for providing the services. So its making a sizeable loss", as stated by James
  22. It was a possible idea that in principle could be considered as an alternative may enable the post office to remain. Clearly in making a loss, any venture to either incorporate the PO or be a PO with other added services would neeed to be profitable. The first thing to do would be to look at the PO in its current operation and see how the losses are incurred and what changes can be made to reduce and negate these I'm TRYING to be creative, apologoies if you do not see the merits of this, but at least it's an idea. Let's see how James and the other councillors feel about the suggestion or if they have any other ideas. It's better to try and fail rather than do nothing at all and lose a vital resource.
  23. James, how about a community run post office - all part of that "infamous" big society idea, is it something you would be willing to initiate discussions with the post office about to see if they would consider such a proposal?
  24. Appreciate that Lordship Lane Post Office is running at a loss, and I agree with James that any business that incorporates PO counters would want to do so to see a profit. Perhaps as has been suggested moving the PO counter into a shop maybe the answer, but can't think of any business locally that is big enough to incorporate PO counters into (perhaps one of the large estate agents may be interested?????) Closure of the LL PO will leave residents and businesses with no post office within easy walking distamce. It will further lengthen the already existing long queues at this post office and merely move them to others in the area, so adding to the existing queues elsewhere. This happened when the Woodvale Post Office closed with the nearest PO being in Forest Hill Road. Both in Forest Hill and Lewisham the PO counter went into a branch of WH Smiths, but Lordship Lane does not have one and the branch in Peckham closed. Can't see WH Smiths opening on the Lane. Have councillors approached the PO to see what alternatives can be suugested/proposed?
