63 Bus route extension to Honor Oak Park Station
dbboy replied to Laurie Eggleston's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The bus does not "dump" them at the cemetery, that's the terminus! The walk up the hill is not a huge inconvienience, when people live here they realise this is part of life and good daily exercise, or thay can use the 363 to the first stop in Woodvale and then either continue to Brenchley Gardens, a 2 min walk to take the P12 or continue to walk to the junction of Forest Hill Road, Honor Oak Park and have the additional choice of the P4 bus. Or changing buses at the Heaton Arms/Tesco in Rye Lane to take the P12. The cost of switching buses is not an issue: People tend to do more than one bus journey per day and as the majority use PAYG Oyster card to pay, three journeys plus 30p equate to ?3.90 per day, bus journeys thereafter are free on the day. Most poeple, sorry practically every house has at least one car that they use daily. If this proceeds traffic using Honor Oak Park will create further and longer congestion leading to gridlock. Honor Oak Park already supports the P4 and P12 and so a pilot scheme is not warrented, needed nor wanted. Have you witnessed how bad it gets during term time plus the parents from Cabrini who drive their childen to school and park on both sides of Forest Hill Road from Honor Oak Rise upto and around into Honor Oak Park and Honor Oak Road, plus the bottom of Canonbie and Netherby Roads and cause sever traffic congestion -
63 Bus route extension to Honor Oak Park Station

Sorry am not interested in political points scoring, if people want to do that please take it elsewhere. Having lived on these hills for close to 50 years and being a frequent user of both 63, 363 and P12, I feel strongly about this. Furthermore I disagree with you, the P12 I find is a relaible service, leave things as they are and stop meddling. This has nothing to do with either the Forest Hill Sooiety and even less to do with Southwark Rail Users Group??. You should contact Twekesbury Lodge Estate Residents Association who represent those liveing in the roads off Forest Hill Road, i.e. Netherby, Canonbie, Westwood Park, Ringmore Rise, Tweksbury Avenue, Horninan Drive plus a few others to get their views. -
63 Bus route extension to Honor Oak Park Station

Sorry, but please do not put in any further traffic calming measures at the top of Forest Hill Road, we have enough already and any more will make walking faster than on the current public transport, i.e. the P12 which runs along Forest Hill Road and up Brenchley Gardens that everyone seems to have forgotton. An extension to the 63 is NOT required as the P12 already operates here. There is already far too much traffic on Forest Hill Road, extending the 63 will cause further traffic congestion especially during term time. result in traffic using the side turnings i.e. Netherby and Canonbie roads, pushing traffic off the main road into these minor roads, result in Honor Oak Park becoming jammed particularly on the bend towards the station, its already narrow and will result in three bus routes on Honor Oak Park (is that really needed? NO) Can I suggest local politicians stop interfering for political point scoring and go and concentrate on more important matters. By the way has anyone been in touch with local resident groups to get there input as it will have a dignificant impact. DONE. -
If you get a chance and can find a copy by Stanley Turrentine, the lp is called nightwings and the track is called Papa T, was the theme tune for the pirate Invicta radio station in the 80's, but unfortunately is not on youtube.

I can also recommend Buntings the butchers on the right hand side at the top end of Peckham Park Road (just off the Old Kent Roard), very friendly and will cut anything you require. Have used them now for over a year and have been very satisfied.

Borough Market tends to be over priced and rated IMO. Never done Smithfields although have beeen past during teh day and a couple of butchers are open on the edges of the market. I believe they have a sale on Christmas Eve to clear stock. For Covent Garden Flower Market it is a really large double "room" area, but much smaller than the fruit and vegatable market. Suggest getting there really really early, like by 7am, traders are beginning to finish up so the earlier the better. Have a wonder around, decide on what you want and then haggle the price the sellers ask for, otherwise you will pay over the odds. Both the flower market and fruit and veg markets are a great experience. From memory I think it was buildings C and D for the Fruit and Veg market.

Good list Peckhamgatecrasher, usually each Londom borough will have on their web site a section called emergency planning/business continuity which will provide further information for residents. It would even be worthwhile to have some informal arrangements with friends or family that in the event of an unforeseen incident, you have alternative acomodation to go too. Initially the Emergency Planning Officer (theres at least one in each borough) will co-ordinate things such as accomodation with hotels, but having your own plans also helps ease this. Hope this also helps as a pointer PRIOR PREPARATION PREVENTS POOR PERFORMANCE

Brought to mind a track by The Specials, "ghost town" which includes the infamous line, Too much fighting on the dance floor. Seriously though, I hope everyone was ok.

If it was on station property, its highly likely its been caught on CCTV.
