Anyone remember the days of C&A, M&S, Sainsury's (the original), BHS, the bag shop, the hot chicken shop, the bakery, the deli under the station, Dewhurst etc all who where in Peckham.
Maybe the vans are his way of marketing the business, he certainly has got everyone discussing his business, so its working and this thread is helping to perpetuate his business further. Personally if he's providing a service good to him, if his customers are not happy he'll know soon enough from not having sufficient work to maintain it. Businesses have to start somewhere, he's taken an alternative approach and it seems to be working by the increasing number of vans that appear. Perhaps one day he'll be able to up grade to newer vehicles and then people won't be so concerned about the issue.
Tyson, in his day, pound for pound the best boxer in his generation, he "destroyed" anyone put in front of him, then it all went wrong, when the money grabers wanted too much, yet he still has to be admired.
Some how can't seem them staying nice and shiney for very long, the knocks, bumps and scratches will appear soon enough if the drivers on other routes are anything to go by!!!!
Travelling through Peckham yesterday evening, it appears as though Tesco have aquired the site next door to the old Co-oP building at the Heaton Arems. It has a big hoarding around the site announcing Tesco's acquisition?
Honor Oak Park station: Southern have just invested and installed new entry and exit turnstils whilst also doing up the booking hall area a bit but the rest of the station including the stairs to both platforms are a disgrace, when are southern going to upgrade the station so it becomes a pleasant environment to travel through? Currently it looks like a run down hovell.
It would be helpful if we could discuss fact rather than speculation and fiction, i.e like the thread about M&S taking over where Foxtons are which appeared to be a wild goose chase!
SAINSBURY's don't even get me started, like over ringing by the checkout operators was a regular occurrence, i.e ringing 22 punets of Strawberries instead of 2 and then explaining it away as "it was a new check-out girl and accidents happen", yeah adding an extra ?40 to my shopping bill and expecting me not to say anything about it. Sainsbury's in DKH are the worse for this, Crystal Palace and Forest Hill stores are both much better. For over two years I have been using Tesco in the Old Kent Road and it virtually never happens and if it does the checkout person notices it themselves and corrects the error. Unfortunately Sainsbury's couldn't give a flying 4X, especially the check out supervisor and the sorry excuse they had for a manager.
Totally support the recommendation fo rteh greek bakers in Camberwell, also the Ingles the bakers in Lewisham by the fruit and veg market and finally cougflans in Croydon. Supermarket bread is acceptable dependant on how good the baker "on duty" is, at one end of the scale the bread can be well baked and teh other really poor.
I am not a Jade fan BUT she has become probably the most famous reality TV person and as such generated vastly more income as a result than any other reality "TV star". As expressed earlier she grasped the Big Brother opportunity that was given to her and maximised this opportunity. Her illness has raised awareness of cancer with the rates of young women seeking smear tests rocketing, so in some way her illness and subsequent passing has had a positive impact. Having cancer can?t have been pleasant and knowing she was dying she did everything she could to secure the future of her two sons, I don?t agree with the way she has gone about doing this in the media, but she wanted a better education and life for her children than she had. Her early life in Bermondsey was nothing less than being seriously unpleasant. Whilst not having had a proper education she tried to change that by becoming a trainee dental nurse and went on from that to make something from her life through the chance given by Big Brother especially over the past seven years.
This has been an entertaining thread, however it seems to be more of a wish list of businesses people would like in ED rather than a reality check of what we have and is comimg. Lets just hang back and see if Foxtons come or go, some how I thinks they are going to hang on for the long haul.
