  1. You can recycle your lenses and packaging through Terracycle: https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB/brigades/ I?m about to send my first box to them, you just download a free shipping label and take it to a drop off point. They also have a network of public drop off points in opticians. Terracycle have a number of other ?extra? recycling schemes you can sign up for at home. Just to say, I don?t work for them, I?m just keen to recycle as much as I can and spread the word to others if it?s helpful.
  2. **Now home again** My cat Enkidu (pronounced n-key-do - also known as Noodle or Monkey) has been missing since last night - Tuesday 11 September. It's extremely out of character for him to disappear overnight. He may be hiding in garden sheds or similar as I live where the police were chasing someone through the gardens between Dunstans Road & Hillcourt Road last night, and he is a very shy cat, I think he got frightened by all the activity and looked for somewhere safe. (this was approx 9-10.30pm on Tuesday night) He is a pale ginger with white markings, particularly on his face, chest and paws. He's about 7 years old, not particularly big and has a fluffy belly. He's microchipped but doesn't wear a collar. He's registered with the Neighbourhood Vets. Photos attached.
  3. There?s a big leak at the junction of Crebor Street/Dunstans Road which TW are on site dealing with now. I?ve just spoken to them & the water will get turned back on again shortly, but it?ll go off again later as it?s going to be a bigger job to fix than they?d hoped.
  4. As posted by others in the general section, a cat was run over by the junction of Crebor St and Dunstans Road on Wednesday evening. It is a dark tortoiseshell - brown, with bits of ginger & white. It was left under a tree on the side of the road, but as children walk past in the morning for Goodrich School, and for safety, I have moved the cat in a box to my garden, a few doors up the road. Edited to remove my phone number as the cat's owners have contacted me. So very sad for them.
  5. I've just posted this on the other thread, but to try and reach the cat's owners, I'm repeating this here & will also post to the Lost & Found thread... I saw the cat as I walked home just now, and as children walk past there to Goodrich School in the morning, and for safety from foxes, I have put in a box and moved to my garden a few houses up the road. I will take it to the vet for scanning in the morning, but if anyone knows the owner, or if it is your cat, please call me on 07714767272. Rachel

  7. I need to get copies of a dissertation printed & bound in September, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a local printers who can do this?
  8. Another recommendation for Norwood Roofing, who replaced some guttering and cleared another section for me. Gave me some very useful advice on following up about a related issue. David and his assistant were on time, did the work well, then tidied up after themselves. Very pleased with their work.
  9. Another recommendation for Steve. My washing machine started leaking when doing the first post-holiday load over the weekend, he's fixed it really quickly and at no cost above his call out charge, as just needed a simple solution. Great & honest service, highly recommended.
  10. Interestingly, Saltash phoned me yesterday, and asked if they could inspect the works done on my property earlier this year. I had them round this morning, and they will be back next week to rectify damage and redo the poor quality work. Apart from comments I included on a survey about the standard of decorating earlier this year, I'd not had the time to lodge complaints with Southwark or with Saltash. I wonder if they have been made aware of this thread - timing seems too much of a coincidence!
  11. Another recommendation for Wayne. I booked a mini valet with him, based on the recommendations on this site. He's a done a great job, my car looks cleaner than I've ever seen it, and it's now in really good condition ready to be sold. He's hard-working, really takes pride in what he does, and as others have already said, is a friendly guy. Thanks Wayne.
  12. Can anyone recommend someone to take away and dispose of my old decking. must have appropriate licences for taking items to the tip. The decking has already been taken up, but some of it will need cutting down before it can fit in a van, etc. thanks.
  13. I've also had this charge for electrical repairs, and likewise recollect the work taking very little time. I'm unable to attend the LAS meeting but if this issue is discussed, please could someone post the outcomes here? I would be happy to join a group response to these charges if that's the most effective way of getting them reviewed. Thank you, particularly Peckham Rose for the info about the LAS and next meeting.
  14. I have had an ongoing leak from the flat upstairs and have a damp, stained ceiling. I need to get this repaired and am looking for recommendations of someone who can look at it, and quote based on advice on whether it needs replastering or just redecorating with damp stop/mould stop paint. I have picked up a couple of names from the search on here, but would appreciate any more recent recommendations, particularly of someone with some damp expertise. Many thanks.
  15. Thank you both! I took a punt & can now confirm that the 40s are running from Dulwich Library!
  16. Anyone know if the 40 is starting at Dulwich library this morning, rather than Goose Green like it was last night?! Have to decide which way to turn out my front door! Thanks!
  17. Anyone know if the 63 or 363 are running down Forest Hill Rd into town? Have to decide whether to head into the office or work from home - I'd prefer to do the latter, but need a bit of weight to my argument!
  18. I'd be really keen to see the 63 bus extended to Honor Oak. I live that side of E Dulwich, and work up near where the new Shoreditch station will be (in fact, I can see the building work from my desk) so being able to get to Honor Oak easily to use the Overgound line would be great as far as I'm concerned.
