  1. Yep, same here! When I contacted Royal Mail they said there are "staffing issues". I'd raise a formal complaint if I can navigate my way through their website! zoester Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is anyone experiencing these issues on Upland Road > as well? 2. Barry Road definitely needs to be tackled. However, I live on Upland Road (between Barry Road and Crystal Palace Rd) and it is already a busy cut through for traffic, so this may increase. There are speed bumps on the street, but due to them being so shallow and spread far apart they have absolutely no effect on the speed of traffic.... especially for larger vehicles.
  3. Speeding on Barry Road is a long-standing issue, but the Council won't do anything due to the buses that use the street. I am surprised there haven't been more accidents. I live on Upland Road, off Barry Road, which is a busy cut through to Lordship Lane. I'm amazed at the speeds cars go down this street, especially as the existing "speed" bumps are so shallow they have no need to slow down!
  4. I already wear ear plugs! Fortunately this morning was ok, but yes I blame the parents!
  5. Over the last few weekends I've been woken up between 6am and 7am by children playing in the garden of a mystery neighbour! Living in a flat surrounded by high trees I can't for the life of me work out which house it is (I live Peckham Rye end of Barry Road), but my weekend lie-ins are being affected! I am all for kids playing outside, but at 6am really!
  6. I am Human Resources Consultant based in East Dulwich with 25 years experience. If you are a small business that need any help (either project work or ongoing HR support) please do get in touch.
  7. The increase in Thameslink trains to four per hour is something I am supportive of, although quite often problems occur due to cancellation of services or short formation of the trains during rush hour. Reliability needs to improve significantly. Survey completed!
  8. Saturday 17th June at 12pm - Please note that the Gym Group in Peckham is currently closed due to a powercut. I'm told it should reopen later this pm.
  9. I recommend Colin! His details are available in this previous post. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1288672,page=1

  11. Yes, unfortunately I'm told this is quite common in many gyms. A few years ago I had my locker broken into at a central London gym (I was a regular member with a specific locker) and as it was after work I had items of significant value stolen including my phone, wallet and house keys. I was told by the police at the time that such incidents can sometimes be inside jobs whereby an employee of the gym can advise the thief which lockers to target! On this occasion as the only two lockers broken into had significant valuables this makes sense. As a result, as well as moving to a new gym, I now take limited valuables with me when I work out and also take my phone into the gym with me.
  12. when is this housing development going to be finished? Seems to be taking agessss.....
  13. the Gym Group has also opened on Rye Lane in Peckham and is about ?15pm.

  15. I think it's a great site for sharing information and finding out what's happening locally, but what astounds me are the number of people with huge chips on their shoulders!
  16. The best bet is to get trains from Peckham Rye or Denmark Hill as there is far more choice and you are not limited to Southern trains!
  17. I found this picture of Upland Road in the past... the view is from the junction with Hindmans Road looking towards Barry Road. The Church has gone now.
  18. Yes, I'm also looking for someone to clean the guttering at the rear of my flat... I would do it myself, but unfortunately don't have access to a long enough ladder!

I think you'll find I did "react". In relation to this particular planning application myself and a number of other local residents raised the issue of the increased traffic caused by the proposed building works along with a number of other salient points regarding the new build to the Council... the first application was knocked back, so I guess we achieved something! It won't be too much longer before we have parking controls in ED... as someone who struggles to find a parking space on my street I am in favour of this measure.
  20. Oh well.... I'll prepare myself for the HGVs and the demolition work!

  23. Yes, I've just spoken with the local stores and they confirmed that it was students from that school. There was indeed a street fight and the police that drove through had been called by one of my concerned neighbours. I'll contact the school. Thanks!
