  1. I've noticed a few times recently that at about 4pm each weekday there is a gang of approximately 20 teenage school kids on Barry Road and Upland Road hanging around, fighting in the streets and intimidating passers-by and some shop keepers. When a police car went by just now with its sirens on, obviously going to another incident, they are all ran off in different directions. They are wearing navy blue school uniforms with an orange collar, so not sure what school that is. Hopefully it won't be a regular occurrence, but is it worth informing the school??? Not sure what they can do though???

Thanks for the sarcastic nonsense. It was an elderly lady with a walking stick that I saw nearly slip over on her way to the bus stop, so not really a laughing matter! Yes I know that leaves fall from trees (must've been taught that in school), but I've lived in East Dulwich for 15 years now and the pavements on Barry Rd have never been this bad...
  3. Walking down Barry Road at the moment is a risky business due to the wet leaves on the pavements! I've already witnessed a few near-slips... is it the Council's responsibility to clear away the leaves?
  4. I am looking for an electrician to fit a cooker hood in my kitchen. As it's a first floor flat you will need access to a ladder to be able to fit the ducting outside. Please PM me.
  5. It's an improvement but the additional floor is the major issue. There has been an ugly loft extension agreed on the street, so it's likely to get the go ahead. The floodgates will open!
  6. I received notification from Southwark council today that the plans have been revised. Namely: Change of materials on third floor and removal of front balcony; Removal of bay windows on ground floor; Use of brickwork on first floor in place of render. The consultation period has been extended to 1 October.
  7. Yes please make comments on the planning application... it looks like over development to me despite the definite need for some form of works to be done. I'm not looking forward to all the HGVs coming down the street either! It has been bad enough with the construction work on the junction of Upland and Crystal Palace Rd. The deadline is Thursday, 8 September so you have a couple of weeks yet.
  8. The proposal is now on the planning site of Southwark Council: http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=externalDocuments&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9568047
  9. I can hear screaming and shouting in the area... Is it the same party?
  10. Is anything happening with the East Dulwich Hotel? The sold sign seems to have disappeared and it's still a "hotel".
  11. I just wish Peckham Rye station would get an urgent revamp as it's terrible, especially during busy commuting times. Stairs too narrow, no lifts, not enough ticket barriers for the volume of people, too few ticket machines.... I could go on and on.... Are they waiting until the works start on creating a public square at the front of the station??
  12. Finally!!!! Although this came too late for our week's Summer. The cooling system on these new buses is appalling, so it really needed doing.
  13. I pulled out before signing the contract due to unsatisfactory references. I recommend anyone who uses builders always thoroughly check references and previous work. Sorry to hear what has happened to you all.
  14. I fortunately pulled out before signing the contract as the references received were either poor or possibly false. Based on the feedback on this forum I am very relieved I did not proceed.
  15. Has anyone sourced him via www.mybuilder.com? If so, perhaps they could leave reviews as currently he has a positive profile. I found him extremely arrogant and his "full fat latte" quotes are laughable as well as annoying! Based on the reviews above hopefully something can be done.
  16. Yeah the TFL consultation findings supported the Old Kent Road extension... it's a shame they couldn't do both: https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/tube/bakerloo-extension Michael Palaeologus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Evening Standard today seemed to say that the Old > Kent Road route has been confirmed. 17. Thanks! If they don't arrive today I will certainly go to the delivery office. Thanks again all!

  19. Hello, has anyone received any post this week? I've been waiting for some important mail which I know was posted on Monday first class, but I've not had any deliveries. Also, I've not seen the postie doing his / her round at all.
  20. Yes, I've heard of this from a few sources. I pulled out at reference stage for this very reason!
  21. I can recommend Colin who has been doing odd jobs for me for years. He is based in Peckham, so not too far away. 07754 691541
  22. Don't bother with Sky Fibre... I upgraded last November and haven't seen a noticeable increase in the line speed to warrant the additional cost. I live near Barry Road, Peckham Rye end.
  23. Hey, on walking up Peckham Rye I noticed a couple of empty shops for let (it's the same stretch of shops as Pedler and Rosie's cafe). I'm not sure of their dimensions however.
  24. The sale must still be going through the legal process as it is not listed with the Land Registry yet... there is still a "Sold" sign outside.
  25. Colin is an absolute Godsend... over many years now he has done a number of jobs for me, both large and small. His decorating skills are great, but he has also done more straightforward things such as putting up curtain poles and fixing brickwork. He is a local friendly chap and his charges are reasonable. Thanks Colin!
