  1. Slavek fitted a bathroom pull cord light for me. Very efficient and quick job and all done in a friendly manner.
  2. Can anyone give me some feedback on Dominic Lewes and the Gentleman Construction Company please? I'm considering getting an extension built by them. Many thanks! PM me.
  3. I am looking for a reliable local building company to build an extension to my first floor flat. They must be available this Spring / Summer as unfortunately I've been let down by the initial selected builder.
  4. yeah it's only 4 houses, so ?500k each... they need a lot of work though, so the ?2m asking price might be pushing it slightly. 7. Just seen a "for sale" sign outside the luxurious East Dulwich Hotel on Upland Road - surely it will be sold as residential properties? It would be a good project for a developer.
  8. For all those commuters who usually get the 0802 london overground train from Peckham Rye to Clapham Junction, please note that it has now been replaced by the 0810.
  9. Beware that contrary to the website's claim that consultations are "complimentary" they actually charge ?20 for a 5 minute chat with the DENTIST!
  10. Some good news on the London Overground front - there will be an additional carriage from 14th December. I'm sure I'll still be fighting for a seat every morning however! 11. Get filling in your consultation survey guys! I prefer the Camberwell / Peckham Rye option of course :) https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/tube/bakerloo-extension
  12. Colin is great!!!! Over the years he has done many jobs in my flat including painting, carpentry and fitting roof insulation. If he can't do the job himself he always knows a man who can! He is very friendly and trustworthy and produces quality work at an excellent price. I would highly recommend him to anyone in the area.

Yes, I've tried a couple of times to speak to the owner, but never at home.
  15. I found this previous discussion on the forum which is of relevance here (I think!): http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,634118

  17. Yes a guy tried to mug me a couple of months ago too on Upland Road / Barry Road (I posted a separate thread on this). I too have noticed that there seems to be a lot more antisocial behaviour recently. I was woken up the other night by a couple arguing as they walked up the street, only to return 30 minutes later and carry on where they left off!
  18. I am a East Dulwich resident who always struggles to find a car park space near my house, so often have no choice but to park in a nearby street after returning from the office. This situation has worsened over the last year or so due to a neighbour operating a people carrier rental business, therefore occupying at least four of these precious spaces! It seemingly isn't that successful as they are always there! I guess without car park permits he / she can do what they want? I just think it's really taking the micky and is very selfish.

He attempted to mug me outside my flat on Upland Road after following me from the bus stop on Peckham Rye. He demanded that I give him ?10 as he went into his inside pocket as if searching for a knife. I told him to f*** off and fortunately he did!
  20. A couple of weeks ago at about 11pm I was walking home after a few shandies at the pub and as I turned into Upland Road a young man (who I had noticed walking parallel to me up Barry Road) shouts at me to stop, then when I did he asks me to run (weird!) and then as he walked up to me he goes into his inside pocket as if going for a knife. I stood still, glared at him, he demanded that I give him ?10, I told him to f*** off (the alcohol fuelled my brave stand) and he walked away...
  21. I've found someone now - thanks everyone for their suggestions!
  22. I have a few odd jobs that need doing in my flat including shaving down a sticking front door and putting down done a few ceramic floor tiles in my kitchen. Please contact me if you have time to do these jobs this week. Thanks. Please pm me.

  24. Last week someone pushed off the brick pillars off my garden wall on Upland Road. Walking down the street it appears that I wasn't the only one affected! What sad people are doing this I wonder?
  25. unlike when Rye Lane has been closed in the past (too often!) there isn't a temporary bus stop on Copeland Road! I therefore had a longer walk from near Morrisons and missed my train this morning :(
