No problem, I'm glad the answer is positive. -

Hi James I found out who to contact about the special needs sessions at Peckham Rye adventure playground. The sessions are to continue with funding until November, perhaps beyond. -
Yes, first saw the swifts a couple of days ago. Heard them before I saw them, really.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound too hopeful. I'll pm you soon. Thanks for asking, though. -
It's a Jersey Tiger Moth. They have been seen increasingly in London in recent years, I discovered, after looking them up when I saw some in my garden last year.

Peterstorm - most children already eat school meals, regardless of background/wealth, whatever. The ones who go home or have packed lunch don't do so because of cost, as they are more expensive options.
-
It hasn't happened yet. I don't think Southwark should provide free school meals to everyone, whilst at the same time cutting the budget of Children's Services. How does that help those in need? Any child already getting free school meals gains nothing, yet may be losing other support/services.

Hi James As you may know, Peckham Rye Adventure Playground has been holding sessions on Saturday mornings for disabled children (mostly ASD) only. The sessions have been a sort of pilot scheme, and I understand that there may be some doubt as to whether they will continue. Could I ask you to lend your support to keeping the sessions going? I fear that whoever makes the decision may think that there have not been high enough numbers of children going along, but the weather has been very cold and wet until the last few weeks, and numbers would certainly increase from now on. There is so little on offer for children with disabilities, and soon to be even less due to cuts. I should mention too, that these play sessions give parents/carers a chance to meet others in the same situation and do some of the networking we usually miss out on. It means a lot to us to be able to take our children to play in a safe, secure place. Thanks so much -
Empty Properties suitable for Squatting in Dulwich

Or settling back, hoping to watch the fireworks... -
You could try knickers then pull ups on top, although the best advice is probably not to stress as bumpkin says. Hope all goes well.

parent and child spaces in sainsbury's car park
dazeykat replied to dully's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Please bear in mind that parents/carers of older children with disabilities (not always obvious!) may need to use those spaces too. -
I used pop in to St C's current shop whenever passing & found nice/interesting things to buy from time to time, but the last few months there's been nothing, so stopped going in much. I assumed it was down to the recession, but perhaps they have been keeping things to stock the new shop?

How can we improve our community
dazeykat replied to hislordshiplane's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
CitizenEd - you're quite right. It's only by all of us using those local amenities that make a community; libraries, your milkman, independent shops and so on, that they can continue to exist in these straitened times. If we value them, we should use them. -
The Post office next to Sainsburys Local has a cash machine, no need to cross the road to Lloyds.

Loud noise last night at 2:30am - anyone hear it?

Yes, I heard it - wonder what it was? Sounded like like a very big firework. -
What has happened to the Mind Shop?
dazeykat replied to huncamunca's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Gimme, I think you are deliberately missing the point. If the items on sale for charity are offered at unrealistic prices, and never sold, then donations to them are worthless. When I give stuff to a charity shop I have in mind that someone who needs/wants that item will reuse/recycle it as well as the charity making some small profit. The Mind shop does not make best use of the items donated if so many of us charity shop browsers don't even go in! P.S. The Big Issue is not worth buying anymore - it used to be great. These days I often give the seller the price of one and don't take the magazine. I also think that devalues the enterprise. -

Yes, it makes no sense to price things at a level at which they won't sell quickly, so as to make room for more. The stock is donated so any sensible price is profit for the charity. If customers know that there are new things every day they are far more likely to visit often I would think. I don't go in the Mind shop because it is too cluttered and overstocked, even after the revamp.
