  1. Just saw the thread on sleepless toddlers and it reminded me... I'm trying to get a group together to do a sleep seminar with Child Sleep Solutions. My wakey baby is 6.5 months old. Anyone with one around the same age want to join? It doesn't cost too much if there's a group. Cheaper than gin. Probably more useful.
  2. I just booked Eurostar tickets, and didn't book one for my toddler as she's under four. Which means she won't get her own seat. So now I'm wondering if I should book her a child's ticket in case things get a bit squashy. (We're travelling with a baby as well.) Has anyone taken a toddler without the promise of a seat? The journey's only an hour and a half, but it's in August when the train will probably be busy, so I'm wondering if I've scrimped too far!
  3. Well, she's breastfed and refuses a bottle, plus I'm a bit of a feed on demand/feed to sleep/make a rod for your own back merchant Dreamfeeding at 11, and 3 naps a day used to work u to a point, but it's beenrandom for 3 weeks now. I thought it was teeth or a development/growth spurt, but it's lasting ages...
  4. Aw thanks, wise forum types! I think it's just getting to me at the moment as I have a full-on toddler too. I feelbad that I don't have enough energy for her I'm going try those books, and try again with the routine. Her sister was a real schedule type at this age, so I'm stumped. It's good to hear how different all your babies are too!
  5. I can't crack my 6-month-old's sleep, and I'm thinking about bringing in a pro. Has anyone had any success with a sleep expert? And do any of them work without controlled crying? The best sleep we've had was 11-5 until 5 months, and now we're up at 4 to feed and 5 for the day. Naps are all over the place, too...
  6. You're right, millsa,I would LOVE to put up with a short flight (well, actually I'd like to go to Greece!) but there's some dissent in our house about that...
  7. I'm thinking of looking for a bit of help with my two children aged 5 months and 3, so I can get my work done. I'll need someone to chat to the toddler and rescue the baby when she rolls, while I work upstairs. It'd be for 2-3 hours at a time, and I'd be happy to be given a shout if there are any problems. What would be the going rate for that sort of thing? Anyone know? Thanks
  8. Thanks! All those places sound nice. I just need to decide whether to brave a caravan park. The lack of luxury scares me a lot!
  9. After chasing a toddler through Gatwick while heavily pregnant last year, we've decided on a UK holiday. But I have no idea where to go. Can anyone recommend somewhere with a beach, crazy golf and suitable for a baby and toddler? And ideally two hours away by train. I've pondered Pontins at Camber and various park type places, but have no idea if they're nice.
  10. Thanks! I went for a cheeky Denmark Hill train and got the 73 up. Smooth.
  11. I haven't commuted for a while and need to get to Oxford Circus in the morning... Is the 8.45 very squashed or is there a chance I'd get on ok with a pram?
  12. My 4 month old won't take a bottle. We've tried everything, and I can't bear to see her getting all worked up about it. Does anyone have experience of successfully getting a baby to drink expressed milk from a cup or sippy cup at this age? Do you have any recommendations on which cup to try?
  13. Oak Tree is lovely. Slight rip off as it charges a fee on top of govt grant, but there's no waiting list and the ladies who run it are great.
  14. My three-year-old and three-month-old are planning a trip to the Barbican. Does anyone know if there's anything suitable for the older one to do round there while the youngest takes in a bit of Bauhaus? We have grandparents in tow, so can split up if we need to... Thanks
  15. Coplestone: parking is easy, near junction with Everthorpe Rd. It's a pound to get in and it's good. Albrighton: on Albrighton Rd, maybe park in Sainsers
  16. Argh! Where was that? I missed him again then... It's a nice one
  17. Does anyone know when he'll be back to do another one or have I missed him?
  18. Balloons from the pound shop filled with sweets. The only time they'll be pleased when it bursts...
  19. Pickle, do you wake her to feed at 10pm? I've been doing a dreamfeed but she rarely wakes up, so not sure she's getting enough as she wakes again at 2ish
  20. I thought it was second babies that were easy! ;)
  21. Ooh, that's exactly what I'd like mine to do! She's the same age. Dare I ask if she sleeps well at night? Mine's a fan of waking up loads. Her sister wasn't, so it's come as a bit of a shock!
  22. Morning! Baby Verds is coming up to 4 months, and I'm slowly realising that letting her sleep fours in the morning might be kwhat's keeping me up all night. Who knew, eh? I'm trying to go for the old 45 mins at 9, 2 hrs at 12 and a cheeky livener at 4. It's been a week since I stopped letting her have the morning mega nap, but she'd still rather be asleep at this time. Anyone up for sharing their nap times for this age?
  23. V Festival is a less hardcore alternative, but it depends what music they're into. There's usually a one-day underage festival in London that has a good line-up. Reading can get a bit chaotic and muddy by the last day. I was 19 the first time I was allowed to go, and my dad made me take my wellies! Ah, that was a long time ago... If he's a sensible type, it should be OK. Take no valuables, and arrange a meeting place with friends as you can't always rely on phone signals.
  24. There's a good zumba class on at 9.30 on a Thurs at Coplestone centre. It's only 45 mins and you can park the baby in there - just 3 quid.
  25. Weds? Anyone know? I fancy something easy to do that doesn't involve standing in the park!
