  7. Quite right rendell, there's been a similar discussion about this on here in the past :) What I should've said is that because the change is so very small i.e a few seconds around the solstice, the perception is that the days are standing still...ergo solstice. Doesn't the rate of change speed up though? If it was only a few seconds each day, surely that wouldn't account for the loss of daylight we experience up to the winter solstice. I'm sure the rate of change gets up into the minutes...
  8. I think the sun stays at it's highest point for about 2 weeks from today, after which the days then start getting shorter again. So should 'mid-summer' officially be in the middle of this period? Either way, for me the summer is June, July & August...

  10. Bollox to Brexit and maeningful votes...well, for a couple of minutes anyway
  11. One of his apologists on Fox said they were child actors, the same lie used to dismiss the Sandy Hook massacre of innocent children (which incidentally is the work of the Alt Reich bloke who Farage gave an interview to while sat in his LBC recording studio). The whole thing beggars belief, but hopefully will be the comeuppance of Trump...
  12. Treeza saying she's never smoked a spliff. Yeah right, we all know what 'running through a field of wheat' really means...
  13. 1st Round Table...
  14. I'm liking the official World Cup ball, a modern take on the classic black and white 70's Telstar design...http://kbis-cdn.kbobject.com/kb/212395/img/kb-212395/zoom/TileGroup0/1-0-0.jpg
  15. rendell, don't forget to mention his recent arse-covering exercise of setting-up a Dublin offshoot company to negate the effects of Brexit...

  17. It's appalling that any MP would send out such a Tweet, nothing more than 'traitor' dog whistling. I wonder if she applies the same 'cricket test' to Asians who attended faith schools etc? Interesting to hear some Brexit vox poppers saying that they are annoyed that there is no overall 'Brexit Dividend' for the NHS as promised by the Leavers. A Sky poll yesterday also reported that a clear majority don't believe there is one either. Slowly but surely some people do appear to be waking up from what they have sleepwalked into. It's quite incredible that a Prime Minister can brazenly claim there is a dividend, when clearly there isn't. One theory why she said that is that it's to act as a sweetener to the Brextremists ahead of big concessions she'll have to make at the next EU summit at the end of this month. Prepare for more disgruntled Brexit voters...
  18. malumbu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Have you any views on garden birds... Had a few sightings recently of the Lesser Spotted Malumbu (drearius lazius stereotypus). Despite it's exotic name, a rather dull sounding bird, with it's feathers easily ruffled. Not native to these parts, it has a monotonous song but a very distinct mating call of ''Yous...Yous....Yous''. Quite a chirpy little number...
  19. Thanks for pointing out the nuances of the interweb malumbu. An exclamation mark means light hearted humour, smiley face means misplaced humour at best. Got it. Have to admit though that it's all a bit irrelevant, as I tend to read your posts with a dreary Brummie accent in my head...
  20. But you were complaining about a bloke on a bus, not in your bed...or did he not alight at his usual stop?
  21. Surely the morning shower supercedes the 'last thing at night' shower anyway?...
  22. Unlike humans who don't use the popular 'ED Nature Watc'h thread...:)
  23. I wouldn't get too holier than thou about the illiberal Russkis. Save it for when a top flight footballer feels they can safely and openly 'come out' here in the UK...
