Defending the indefensible - another PM thread
diable rouge replied to malumbu's topic in The Lounge
Exactly KK, what we're seeing is self-preservation kicking-in, the prospect of Tory MPs losing their seats rather then any genuine objection to Johnson and his lies, ineptitude, moral bankruptcy, and the disgrace he's brought to the role of PM. I'm still not convinced though that he would lose a VONC, didn't May survive one, only to later stand down 'voluntarily' due to failing to get the Tories to agree to her Brexit deal? As much as I want him to go for the good of the country, if he stays it makes it much more likely that this incarnation of the Tory party will lose the next election. The whole lot of them need to be sent packing, not just Johnson... -

I'm also using Windows 10, so out of curiosity I followed the above instructions to see what my settings are and what other settings there are. It said the ''auto hide scroll bars'' was ''On'' yet I can see my scroll bars...:)

Thanks, any suggestions welcome, I think it would be easier to contact people if the game had an internal mailing system like SuperBru's, so would just have to know people's game name to contact them, something that Predict Addict doesn't have and instead relies on external email addresses if you want to contact someone...

Well, it ended up being a much closer finish than anticipated. Unlucky LadyG, a good comeback in the closing weeks. Congrats to Meds, a second win in three years. Week 35 points... Final Table... Stay tuned-in over the coming weeks in case there's news of an EDF takeover, or whether there's time to set-up a new league before the forum closes. Thanks to everyone for joining in, enjoy the summer!...

Probably the last set of fixtures for the EDF Predictor League. We're in good company though as I've just read that Lawro is hanging up his predictor boots too. Although there might be an outside chance that the Forum will continue or a new League can be set-up before it closes. Week 35 fixtures... Sunday 22nd May Arsenal v Everton Brentford v Leeds United Brighton & Hove Albion v West Ham United Burnley v Newcastle United Chelsea v Watford Crystal Palace v Manchester United Leicester City v Southampton Liverpool v Wolverhampton Wanderers Manchester City v Aston Villa Norwich City v Tottenham Hotspur

Hello stranger! Good to hear your daughter's going to be ok Jeremy. Did you know that the forum is closing down in July? If you keep in touch with any of the 'old skool gang', perhaps let them know, and that there's a thread in the About section where people have been leaving their thanks to Mark and his team... -
Fledglings can jump though, well, Great Tits certainly can, have watched them numerous times jumping up onto low branches and then making their way up the branches to safer territory...

I suspect it will continue for some time. T-minus 58 days. Every cloud etc...

Bic Basher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Lambeth gained three Lib Dem councillors and became the official opposition on an anti-LTN ticket, beating the Greens. But that doesn't show the whole picture, in that anti-LTN's were very much in a minority, albeit vocal, which was the point that quote was making... Labour 58 Lib Dems 3 Greens 2 Conservatives 0 People would have voted against the Tories regardless and found Labour to be the alternative regardless of the local politics. Which again backs up the quote's point, that despite the vocal rhetoric it wasn't the big issue to buck such trends as it was painted out to be...

As a neutral on this pro/anti LTN debate I have to concur with what Independent journalist Jon Stone says... Loud but tiny anti-LTN campaigns have been a huge boost for Labour councils? across London opposition parties have oversestimated opposition to schemes, latched onto campaigns, and lost basically everywhere. Lambeth now has zero Tory councillors for the first time ever! We've been here before with the anti/pro smoking ban, and likewise the vast majority of people will just get on with their lives as normal...

jazzer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Even funnier their is the beginnings of talk on GB News of Starmer being replaced, so much for a united team, you really couldn't make it up even if you wanted to!!! What's really amusing is seeing newspapers/pundits/posters et al who were once saying there are far more important things to talk about than parties/fines etc, now happily talking about someone eating a curry... Should add Tory ministers/MPs who once wouldn't comment on the parties/fines until Sue Grey and the Met had carried out their respective report/investigation, are now happy to comment on a case under investigation.

jazzer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Many will now have to endure a further four years of seeing the borough on a further downward spiral with increase council tax and fewer services. With Covid and now the cost of living crisis, there can't be many councils that haven't or won't put up council tax and/or reduce services. This is up to 2019/20 for England... Local authority ?spending power? ? that is, the amount of money local authorities have to spend from government grants, council tax, and business rates ? has fallen by 16% since 2010 Councils can't borrow this shortfall, so something has to give...

Style Police Officer Nigello patrols the Dulwich environs, his mission to protect the public from aesthetically-challenged assaults to the street landscape... Typical! Another ugly, tawdry attempt by the Council at traffic calming. The Bloomsbury Set would be turning in their graves!

Nigello Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- Back to the physical reality of the Village LTN - it?s ugly and looks extemporised with the random planters, useless traffic lights and trip-friendly kerbs. Don't fret Nigello, some nice, bright, colourful plastic banners around the planters will soon brighten up the place...:)

Rockets Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- ...LTNs drove a wedge between people and the council has to make it a priority to help mend the damage they did with the way they handled the whole process. As someone who hasn't got a dog in this particular fight, this all comes across as a bit like Brexit in that people are either in favour of LTNs or against them, there's no middle ground to be had. How do you think a compromise can be found?...
