  1. Tongue in cheek or not, Cat's right about the march towards narcissism, except I think many are already there, they even voted in a narcissist-in-chief in the States I don't mind teenagers doing it, probably all part of growing up/finding your identity etc, as a kid it was normal once in a while to pop down to a passport photo booth with a mate(s)/girlfriend for some 'pulling faces' snaps, but it was a stage that you eventually grew out of. Have noticed that disposable cameras with film have become trendy with teenagers, also modern takes on Polaroids, so maybe all is not lost...
  2. It's normally a sign a thread has reached it's natural conclusion. It was a niche POV to begin with, there's only so much that can be said about whether or not more shops should've put up some bunting, best let it die here of natural causes...
  3. I see our resident #TeamBoris has had his 3 Shredded Wheat again. How dare those journalists report the truth about our blessed leader! Sting 'em up along with those treacherous Tory MPs who expressed their democratic right in a vote!...
  4. At least give it a chance hammerman. Think of all the fun you and Nige will have listening to it while chasing migrants around Dover...

  7. Not inclusive enough. I was thinking more along the lines of the Benny Hill theme tune...
  8. One thing I'd like to see if the monarchy does indeed have a reduced role in the future, is a national anthem that reflects the country and people as a whole, instead of the dirge to one person and those of a religious persuasion. By all means keep the current one for Royal events, but give the rest of us a more optimistic hands in the air like you just don't care choon!...
  9. Maybe the local shops did their research. The ED demographic is made up of a lot of young professionals, it might come as a surprise to older generations, but they're not that interested in the Royal Family. They're not raging Republicans with guillotines in hand, but do think it's an anachronism, an odd, archaic institution in modern day Britain. At the moment the Queen is the glue that holds it all together. When she eventually passes, as well as countries like Australia officially declaring themselves as a Republic, I suspect we'll also see a much reduced monarchy in the UK public eye, becoming less important over time and less reliant on the public purse, more akin to the Scandinavian model. A very British compromise that will keep the Royalists and Republicans happy...
  10. Weed them out? He'd better hire a JCB then. Nothing like a good old-fashioned Stalinist purge to sort out a problem, that'll show 'em!...
  11. I expect Johnson will win the vote, but as to whether it counts as a 'win' will depend on how many vote against him there are. I would've thought any number above the parliamentary majority of around 80 will cause problems. Once you get into 100+ then it's just a question of how long it drags on for. May managed 6 months but didn't have an investigation by the Privilege's Committee and two very losable by-elections to contend with...
  12. But when it comes to Brexit, its nothing to do with terrible government...its just 'brexit is bad'..... The Brexit deal we ended up with has everything to do with this Gov, they negotiated it. The two are inextricably linked. Some people, myself included, feel that any form of Brexit would've been 'bad' with respect to staying in the EU, but there were degrees of 'badmess'. For instance a more competent Gov would've Brexited while still remaining in the SM and CU, thus minimizing the economic damage...
  13. What happened to the 'let's wait 10 years before we judge Brexit' plan? :) Yet, here we are, almost a year and a half after the transition period ended and Cat's citing one graph because he thinks it suits his agenda. I note the graph and article makes no reference that the Gov has still to apply full post-Brexit import checks, something the EU did immediately, so hardly a level playing field in that respect. It's something that the UK Gov will have to do eventually, especially if it wants to be seen to be 'taking back control', despite the adverse effect that will have on imports and graphs like that one. One important thing the article does cite though is that the OBR's original long-term forecast (15 years) that this particular Brexit deal will hit GDP by 4%, remains unchanged despite these figures. Perhaps the OBR didn't conveniently forgot about the Gov's delay on checks...
  14. Here's the article* in full for those who want to read the full context...https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/may/30/brexit-uk-firms-eu-trade-northern-ireland *Warning: Article contains 'cherry picked sob story anecdotes'...
  15. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Word?...
  16. Exactly KK, what we're seeing is self-preservation kicking-in, the prospect of Tory MPs losing their seats rather then any genuine objection to Johnson and his lies, ineptitude, moral bankruptcy, and the disgrace he's brought to the role of PM. I'm still not convinced though that he would lose a VONC, didn't May survive one, only to later stand down 'voluntarily' due to failing to get the Tories to agree to her Brexit deal? As much as I want him to go for the good of the country, if he stays it makes it much more likely that this incarnation of the Tory party will lose the next election. The whole lot of them need to be sent packing, not just Johnson...

  19. I'm also using Windows 10, so out of curiosity I followed the above instructions to see what my settings are and what other settings there are. It said the ''auto hide scroll bars'' was ''On'' yet I can see my scroll bars...:)
  20. Thanks, any suggestions welcome, I think it would be easier to contact people if the game had an internal mailing system like SuperBru's, so would just have to know people's game name to contact them, something that Predict Addict doesn't have and instead relies on external email addresses if you want to contact someone...
  21. Well, it ended up being a much closer finish than anticipated. Unlucky LadyG, a good comeback in the closing weeks. Congrats to Meds, a second win in three years. Week 35 points... Final Table... Stay tuned-in over the coming weeks in case there's news of an EDF takeover, or whether there's time to set-up a new league before the forum closes. Thanks to everyone for joining in, enjoy the summer!...
