Defending the indefensible - another PM thread

There's a good chance that some of those already issued with a FPN for breaking the law, will be employed as 'civil servants', and as such have to adhere to a code of conduct, which among many things states that a civil servant can't break the law. That's fine, until you factor in that those who receive a FPN are not being identified by the Met, which then begs the question, how does a civil servant who has broken the law face the consequence of falling foul of the code of conduct, unless they personally 'fess up'?... -

We can send men to the moon. We can find cures for once incurable diseases. We can even assemble Ikea Billy bookcases without peeking at the instructions* But apparently we're incapable of tackling rising inflation etc and supporting Ukraine while at the same time, God forbid, hold the Gov and PM accountable for breaking the very laws they legislated and insisted everyone followed. *Doffs cap and tugs forelock* *Ok, a bit far-fetched that one... -

Johnson still refusing to say that the law has been broken, despite the Met already issuing the first tranche of fines for...breaking the law. A denial because he knows he's going to get a fine?... -

I certainly havent seen anyone commenting on this thread (even the much demonised oimissus) suggest that transpeople dont have a right to be who they want to be....'' ''...unless that transperson was previously a man and now identifies as a woman'' As has already been pointed out on this and previous threads on this subject, that's deeply insulting to a transperson, the denial of who that person identifies as. An ex-work colleague who is third generation black British, once told me that the most hurtful thing that had been directed at him about his ethnicity wasn't the usual racial stereotypes/slurs that he had learnt to 'brush-off', but when someone casually told him that no matter what nth generation he was, he could never be 'truly British' because he was black and not 'indigenous' white. It's that denial of someone's identity that cuts through and it's something that the likes of oimissus knowingly do...

Seabag Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- ''Can you imagine all the hard work of creating a hostile Britain for those seeking refuge, only to be undone by a war and its actual war refugees, thousands of them. And specially refugees from a country with a strong desire to join the EU.'' Spot on sb, the border system has been doing exactly what it was planned to do on the back of Brexit, in particular to Channel crossings, that is to close legal routes for asylum seekers/refugees so people entering immediately become 'illegals' and cue Daily Mail headlines demonising them. From yesterday... Yvette Cooper: ?Today, Tory MPs voted to make it a criminal offence for Ukrainian families to arrive in the UK without the right papers with a penalty of up to 4 years in prison...when British people have made clear we need to help Ukrainian refugees, this is deeply shameful." -

There was a recent poll and the UK came about third in a list of countries who Ukraine sees right now as an ally, higher than the US, France and Germany, and the main reason given for this was as Cat rightly points out, that the UK has been providing military support over the years. Whether this will change once the UK Gov's appalling response to Ukrainian refugees filters through, remains to be seen, but right now for Ukrainians on the ground it's about military support. But I think we should also be aware that this support was also good for UK Plc, we've been making money from it, and it could be said it's more to do with that than insightful long-term strategic military planning against a potential Russian invasion. We should also remember that during the same period the UK Gov has does nothing to stop Putin's oligarchs from essentially laundering their ill-gotten wealth through UK Plc, it's a global thing but the UK, in particular London, has been at the heart of it, hence the moniker Londongrad. All of which has backhandedly supported Putin and ergo the Russian war machine we see now... -
Because as I said before, it's an insult, and as such, just like if a racist insisted on using the n word, I wouldn't want to debate racial issues with them. Some people are beyond 'reaching out to', Oimussus is one of them. I wondered why many of the posters who had commented on the previous Oimissus thread on the same subject, haven't on this one, and I suspect for similar reasons...

Ah, the inevitable 'trying to shut down the debate' throw away line. I've no wish to give your nasty transphobic views and strawman arguments any more oxygen...

redjam Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- ''It's so unhelpful that we can't have a debate about these issues without instantly being accused of being transphobic. I fully support the right of trans people to live safely and happily in whatever gender they choose'' That's all well and good but Oimissus doesn't think the same and instead believes that a man who has transitioned to a woman is not a woman per se, and constantly and knowingly refers to them as a man, which is seen as an insult in the trans community. That's transphobia right there. There is indeed a serious debate to be had about how trans people can best be integrated into sport, but you can't have that debate with people like Oimissus who won't even recognise their identity and instead constantly throw insults...

Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is there anything considered wrong in suggesting > that trans people have their own category in > sports? It could be the way forward, but at the moment it just seems a handful of sportsmen/women across various events, so currently it would lack any competitive element. As an aside, female jockey Rachael Blackmore is proving that in some sports women can compete and even be better than men, so the whole argument about women who identify as men and vice versa have an unfair advantage, is blown out of the water...

Damn, pipped at the post, pass on congratulations to the Nut, and thanks for organising once again. Been quite a few memorable sporting moments in the last few days...Yarmolenko's emotional extra-time winner, Rachael Blackmore winning the Gold Cup, Italy's last gasp winning try, France's joy at winning the Grand Slam...just need an FA Cup upset today to complete the set...up the Forest! :)

I think you once mentioned Bob that your wife is from farming stock, therefore she will be used to waking up very early with the Cock, I realise you've probably tried hard to make her feel more at home in London with your attire of Cotton Trader's check flannel shirts and mustard jumbo cords, but I'm afraid those along with the early morning dulcet tones of Ken Bruce are a very poor substitute...

Switching Energy suppliers - any recommendations?
diable rouge replied to Studio-S.E.2.2.'s topic in The Lounge

If you haven't seen it already, Admin has posted about P3girl being the latest banned incarnation of a well-known troll/multi-account user on the Forum, so it wouldn't surprise me to hear they might be involved in other unscrupulous activities. This troll always posts on certain threads on the Forum, this LTN thread being one of them, so worth keeping an eye out for them in the future and letting Admin know if you have suspicions they have returned...
