  1. Reminder that the Euros start this Friday evening so still plenty of time to join in, password details posted above, here's a link to the main page for any newcomers... https://www.predictaddict.co.uk/

  4. During the Hartlepool by-election, Labour decked out it's HQ in Union Jacks nd put the flag of St George on leaflets. Instead of apeing the Tories flag-waving plastic patriotism, they should be having a grown-up conversation that patriotism is more about doing what's best for a country and it's people as a whole. There was nothing patriotic in the Tories trying to stop free school meals, and Labour should be ramming home issues like that. Likewise the Brexit deal the Tories negotiated, where's the patriotism in a deal which has economically separated NI from the rest of the UK, as well as threatening the Union with Scotland? Starmer seems scared to mention Brexit. It is possible to criticise the Tories Brexit deal without criticising Brexit per se...
  5. I'm not 'on' Twitter Quids but I do browse around it, mainly journos across the political spectrum and legal experts so as not to expose myself (oooerr missus) to too much political bias. Agree that Mr Teflon will survive, but isn't that the problem?...
  6. Well, there's this for starters...https://twitter.com/StevePeers/status/1397868514795470851 It was kinda ironic to see Cummings wanting/needing people to believe him. The man who helped create and nurture a political culture where it's ok to lie and feed disinformation, and even get rewarded for it. Never forget, this is the man that sought to undermine our democracy and the rule of law with the illegal prorogation of parliament. But, I actually think that Barnard Castle aside, what he said was based on truth and actual events, we knew most of it already, but it was important to get it from someone who was actually there right in the thick of it (no pun intended). And at least he had the decency to admit to his culpability and apologised, something you won't get from Johnson et al. I agree that this could well be seen as the beginning of the end of Johnson, it was only a matter of time before this Vote Leave Gov started eating itself, the question is how long will it take. Like with Trump, Johnson's base will continue to support him regardless, but that base isn't the majority and unlike the US two-party system where all the anti-Trump vote could go to the Democrats, here the anti-Johnson vote is split, and unless that is addressed by some sort of 'progressive alliance', Johnson will keep on winning under our first past the post system. The two upcoming by-elections in traditional red and blue wall constituencies should be an ideal opportunity to put that to the test...

Updated roll call of past winners... 2012/13 - Red Devil - 249pts (this was pre-Predict Addict, I think with a different scoring system) 2013/14 - Rhinestone Cowboy - 270pts 2014/15 - Park Drive - 262pts 2015/16 - Park Drive - 253pts 2016/17 - Red Devil - 303pts 2017/18 - Park Drive - 292pts 2018/19 - Jah Lush - 295pts 2019/20 - Alan Medic - 283pts 2020/21 - Park Drive - 289pts
  8. No rest for the predictors, Euros 2020 less than 3 weeks away, here are the details of the new league. Dulwich Fox is the defending champion. Newcomers welcome to join in...
  9. Week 34 points... Final Table... Congrats to Parky, runaway winner and 3rd overall, only 8 points away from winning the overall league, outstanding effort...

  11. That Treasury forecast came with two rather important caveats. Firstly that A50 would be triggered the day after the referendum...it wasn't. Secondly, that the BoE wouldn't intervene fiscally...id did. If Brexit was so good Brexiters would be lauding the benefits instead of peddling 'apocalyptic' tropes. Even the first legit FTA with Australis isn't going to plan, another dose of realty for the 'free trade' economic fantasists whilst shafting UK farmers in the process...
  12. The Brexiter default position is always to say ''it's not as bad as the apocalyptic predictions'' (ignoring they were based on No Deal) as if that somehow justifies its failings up to now. Brexit is one long exercise in deflection, witness Frost's recent gaslighting and airbrushing of how the NIP came about. They will never own their crock of cack...
  13. Blimey, that didn't take long. Might be worth having a punt on Rodgers if Leicester fail to make top 4...
  14. Nuno leaving Wolves, can see him rocking up at Spurs...
  15. It's typical of this Gov that a situation where some form of ID like an EHIC would be beneficial, yet they'd rather bring in Voter ID for a non-existent problem. A couple of examples here...https://twitter.com/StevePeers/status/1395654894552485889
  16. Just had to pay some 'import fees' on an Amazon purchase to the EU, adding around 20% to the bill...thanks Brexit!

Because of the lack of detail/photos I was trying to cover all possibilities. Despite the sheltered aspect, interstitial condensation could be a problem as condensation doesn't just form in areas exposed to rain. I'm sure the OP is wise enough that if they decided to investigate an EWI solution they will contact the technical help line of a company like Rockwool/Kingspan etc, and get them to spec up a solution...

  21. The sound you're hearing is probably coming through the structure (structure borne) as opposed to flanking (through open windows/doors) or impact, and it's difficult to eliminate if the property hasn't been built to prevent that from happening. The noise is probably reverberating up through your walls as well as the floor, so insulating the floor might not make a huge difference (recording studios get round this by building a box within a box, but that's way OTT for a domestic situation unless you thought it worthwhile). However, you should get some benefit on heat loss side of things. As an aside, have you considered putting in a bigger radiator? When the original was installed the installer might not have taken into account the room has an external soffit, so simply getting a bigger rad could help in that respect. A photo of the arch would've been really useful, so in lieu of that I'm guessing that there's a recessed concrete soffit beyond the arch, similar to this (couldn't find a pic showing a curved arch)... If this is the case then in theory it wouldn't be difficult to form a new floating soffit incorporating some sound/thermal insulation, finished with a smooth exterior board painted out. But it needs to be done professionally, probably with a vapour barrier and maybe even vents to prevent condensation build-up. And once you get into stuff like that, Building Control need to be informed and approval sought. You will also need the permission of the management company/freeholder or the owner of the other property(ies) if it's a share of the freehold, to carry out the works. If the arch is continuous i.e. no recessed soffit, then I'd forget about it, as visually it would look a mess. I also think it would be less hassle to do add some insulation internally. You don't mention lifting up carpets, just moving furniture and lifting floorboards. So it may be a simple case of putting down a really thick heavy duty underlay and carpet, sealing any gaps e.g. between floorboards ands skirtings, with mastic. Personally, I'd try that first, along with a new rad, and see if that works before attempting lifting floorbaords etc If not or you already have a carpet, then obviously you will need to lift it and the floorboards and run some insulation between floor joists, this can be the Rockwool type or rigid boards. There are lots of DIY videos on YouTube how to do both...
  22. ''Why is it bad form to call them dim? What other word would be appropriate?'' I felt the same when I saw a BBC post-Hartlepool vox pop video, people lining up to criticise Labour for the area not having enough bobbies, no police cells, and no court. It's as if 11 years of Tories in Gov and their austerity cuts had never happened...
  23. Parky has closed the gap to eight points. Keep going Parky!...
