https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/swimming-abuse-women-catcalling-b1875324.html Maybe not quite as agressive as she has experienced, but definitely some ego bruised moments, being forced to wait whilst slowly overtaken or just starting their swim just ahead of me when I'm already in the pool presuming they will swim faster than me...then not actually swimming faster, but refusing to wait.. even when its blindingly obvious....gawd love em...im sure many women and other men have a similar story...

Book Clubs in ED or surrounding areas
bodsier replied to Sparkler's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'd like to join a walking book club. As a busy parent, I would like to combine getting outdoors with a book club. Does one exist? -
fascinating the amount of time spent discussing statues and slogans....a historical event happened recently, George Floyd trial and conviction....There lies the problem.....scratching the surface and reluctant to go in..why?

I'm compelled to write this because I really think that its even more important nowadays to think things through. I totally understand and comply to the covid rules....however after a year it does start to have a detrimental impact. If you dont run ( not great for some due to the impact on joints) and walking is not a cardio vascular challenge ...I was so happy to come across people exercising outdoors socially distancing and Having a great time. When I joined It was my lifeline and...clearly was also beneficial to all others in their 50s to get out and get fresh air whilst exercising. It's been wonderful for physical and psychological health. I spoke to one woman today who had said that she was suffering mentally earlier today and coming out to do aerobics was protective of her mental health which was now deteriorating following the long lockdown. It was such a shame to be met with 2 policemen before we had even started. Told to disband due to there being more than 2 people gathering. Someone had complained.... isnt it important that we think outside the box here. Exercise is so incredibly important but I find it so hard to motivate myself at home. I want to exercise outside and as I used to swim... I cant do that at present so aerobic exercise is such a great alternative. It honestly was so therapeutic and we always kept 2 metres apart and NONE of us have contracted covid in the time we have been doing this. Please if anyone is tempted to report gatherings could you at least wait until you see it as unsafe..... the lack of exercise is having such a detrimental effect on us physically and mentally it may just mean we add to the burden on the NHS and the economy. If we listened to Boris we'd have booked our holidays for the summer and be spreading the virus further and wider. Instead I'm staying put.remaining in London..keeping my distance and staying safe. I would never put mine or other people's lives at risk. Let's use our common sense in these difficult times and not turn against each other. Please

Can someone please explain to me why Gail's is so popular ? It regularly has queues whilst Romeo Jones does not. Personally I try to stick to Independent shops as much as possible, but I understand if pricing is an issue but their prices seem comparable or more expensive. So the question is what do you buy at Gail's that warrants you standing in a queue in the cold?

Hi all This may have been covered already so apologies if I'm repeating past posts. Just wanted to say that an email or a note allowing your child to wear a mask in class might be beneficial as cases in secondary schools are rising In Most schools, pupils are sitting within a A metre of each other in large numbers. It makes sense to follow general safety guidelines in class as well as in corridors. Stay safe everyone...

DVIS parenting course upset my partner
bodsier replied to RT77's topic in The Family Room Discussion
If your partner can give feedback to the course leaders it would go a long way to raising awareness. It's important to recognise the sensitivity of this work. Hopefully they will receive it well, and adapt accordingly. I Agree with midivydale. Parenting groups work best when parents are singing from the same sheet. It strengthens and reinforces all the parenting work so Much quicker and more effectively. It's great to do them regardless of whether having difficulties with your child or not... We learn how to parent from our parents.... Not all of it is necessarily good for our children, and we might not recognise that. I'm aware that one size doesn't fit all. Children are different and respond differently to different experiences, so adapting slightly In accordance to individual need is something worth considering. Good luck, it's the hardest job in the world, and changes all the time, we as parents have a hard job keeping up. Keep on keeping on, and try not to feel bad about it, Your doing your best, and looking outside for help and guidance. You're doing your utmost, together you can be strong -

Local school needs funding to continue with counselling service.
bodsier replied to alice's topic in The Lounge
Im flabbergasted that whilst children's mental health services are already overstretched that the government chooses to cut essential services like these. Beyond belief... good luck with the campaign. -

Secondary school with good pastoral care for kids with adhd
bodsier replied to bodsier's topic in The Family Room Discussion
thanks, it's tough for all parents with special needs, schools just don't get funding and league tables means that these kids needs are compromised. I wonder if Corbyn has got it right in terms of creating good academic schools with a lot more compassion.
