  1. We actually switched to Sogim for my husband's regular prescription, after terrible experiences with both Sadlers and Lloyds! Sogim have been brilliant and never had any issues! Hope that isn't going to change now!!
  2. Would like to add a recommendation for Andy. He recently carried out a range of tasks in our flat and my mum's flat, all to a high standard - he was punctual, neat, efficient and very reasonably priced. He mounted our TV to the wall, hung a range of pictures and shelves, fixed all internal door handles which were loose, including one which had completely fallen off (and proved a pain to get back on but he managed!), and even fixed some general issues he noticed while here. He also touched up some paintwork to a high standard. Andy came to have a look at the job before the day he was actually booked to do the work, and spent time assessing everything and fixing a couple of bits there and then. He has a very personable manner and went above and beyond. He was great with my blind husband, making sure everything was tidy and out the way, and my usually shy 4 year old really took to him too. Wouldn't hesitate to use Andy again and recommend him to others. We trusted him wholeheartedly and he got on with the work while we were out.
  3. Out of interest, would it be different if it was a baby screaming with colic for hours in the evening or the night (which can also go on for months and months and seem endless?). Unfortunately small children don't always conform to what society/neighbours expect! Living in a detached house is probably the only answer to eliminating child-related neighbour noise to be honest.
  4. We have had two postal deliveries in the last fortnight. It seems that when our regular person is off they are simply not covered. I'm expecting several parcels which are now 2 weeks since posting - it really is absolutely infuriating. I have no faith whatsoever in getting anything on time but hopefully they'll turn up eventually. It does seem that if it arrives at the right moment it might come quicker than things which have got stuck in a huge backlog. Very fed up!
  5. We've had things taking an average of 7-10 days after posting if that helps! Not just a local issue though. My auntie posted two identical packages from same post office to grandchildren at the same address and they arrived 6 days apart!
  6. To add to the above, the Dr who spoke on the Nolan Show (Well worth a listen) https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0877mb2 was saying that they had people test negative on nose swabs but positive on throat swabs and there are false negatives etc. You wouldn't be likely to get a reliable result I'm afraid. I'm also keen to be tested as was ill this week and will always be left wondering whether it was that. We have all rigidly self-isolated as if it were but it would be useful to know for sure... hopefully the antibody test will come out soon. Edit to correct an autocorrect typo I'll for ill
  7. Hi We did ours at Dulwich Community Hospital, under Kings. It's definitely Kings run. This was the email address we were given to book etc and had responses from them - hope it helps! [email protected]
  8. Hi there, I'm a fully qualified (CELTA and Delta) EFL teacher with 10 years' teaching experience living in Dulwich. Currently on maternity leave myself from a full time English teaching job and taking on private students. I'd happily provide lessons for your au pair if you decided to go down that route rather than a school. There aren't any particularly local ones (that I know of) unfortunately. Do PM me if you'd like any further info. Best wishes
  9. Sorry to hear this. There have been a few similar threads under Family Room - Discussion. If you run a search for Piplings they'll come up. Someone else had similar very recently I'm afraid.
  10. As our baby approaches crawling age, we need to get our Ikea bookcases x 4 and chests x 2 attached to the walls. We have the brackets but are unable to do it ourselves. It seems like it should be a relatively quick/easy job for someone experienced in DIY? Any recommendations for someone efficient and reasonably priced please? Thanks!
  11. Couldn't agree more! My husband received one today and I was similarly puzzled/annoyed.
  12. Hi, I've no idea if the people in question were local or will see this but really wanted to thank the two men who helped a taxi driver get my (blind) husband off the floor when he tripped outside Gloucester Court on Lordship Lane last Friday. He's fractured his knee and is still in hospital but I'm so glad they were there to help at the time! Thanks to the taxi driver too obviously. If anyone knows who they were (if anyone came home telling this story!) please do let me know!
  13. We did Bump and Baby in East Dulwich, held at The Lordship Pub (same as the group) and highly recommend. We also went to the NHS classes and got a lot out of both - social group from B&B, very informative re birth and aftercare at King's from NHS.
  14. Hmm I missed a parcel on Thurs. Booked redelivery for earliest date available (Sat) and waited in all day. Of course it never came. Do I now assume it's in Peckham tomorrow and go there? I'll call them obviously but don't want to miss home delivery while out and it's quite important I get this package ASAP before I go into labour! Very frustrating. I booked an Amazon return today too but realised my error when I saw it would have go to sorting office. Cancelled and rebooked service I can drop at PO on LL. All very annoying to have such an unreliable service!
  15. They're a right pain! We had the carpets steamed and spray applied (same one others have mentioned - sold in Dulwich DIY but bigger bottles on Amazon) before we moved in as thers were several patches of eaten carpet found. It seems to have massively reduced the population, though we do still see a few every day on walls. aapparently the males hang out on walls while females lay eggs on the ground. We keep spraying to attempt to eliminate and we've scattered lavender sachets everywhere to try and keep them away from clothes etc. I think the steam and spray combination has dealt with the worst but I still feel like I'm in a daily battle with the blighters though. At least they are fairly passive and just sit there while you kill them...
  16. They've cleared the bulk of the rubbish now. Just little bits left. There is a security car there permanently. The BT site has been secured too now by the looks.
  17. Just walked past and looks like they've secured the site (caravans gone, fence locked up) so hopefully won't be long til exchange accessible and problems resolved.
  18. This is what's left at The Grove still after several lorry loads have already been taken away. So they're still at the BT site then? Just awful that apparently nothing can easily be done to stop this illegal activity.
  19. Such a shame the problem has just shifted! I simply cannot fathom why they don't arrest when it's blatantly illegal activity!
  20. Can't quite see from our window but there appear to be police officers and security types already on site. Fingers crossed!!
  21. Looks like they actually have gone!! Now how to get them to secure the site now... Email earlier from Dulwich Estate says "I am told that the travellers are intending to move on later today and if this is the case then plans are already in place to re-secure the site and to then arrange for the clearance of all the rubbish and refuse." but at 8.15pm the site will presumably be left unsecured as I can't imagine the plans are in place for out of hours?
  22. Apparently measures already in place to clear up when they're gone...
  23. Response I've received from Dulwich Estate says they are expecting them to move on today. We shall see.....
  24. We watched too. They are now covering their faces with jumpers/hi-vis jacket whilst dumping. Getting worse and worse. Trying to get through to 101 again but been on hold for 15 mins already and know it's futile. The three dogs were on the loose scrabbling around outside dukes court too Eblaney Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > More tipping just happened. It's not a question of them being blamed for it...they are doing it! On a massive scale!!
