Goochie and Tres were nowhere NEAR the class of KP over their careers! To suggest such a thing is preposterous! Forget First Class, what were their Test averages? (They are shown here by the way: http://stats.cricinfo.com/england/engine/records/batting/highest_career_batting_average.html?class=1;id=1;type=team I'll put it like this. Goochie took 215 innings to score 20 Test centuries. KP has *already* got 16 in 97 innings. The record in the history of English Test cricket is 22 held jointly by Hammond and Boycott. I've said it before and I'll say it again. TO suggest dropping EASILY our best batsman for the last 35 years is madness of the highest order!
-
watched it for the first time tonight on the recommendation of someone - best thing I've seen in years to be honest.
-
Completely disagree with those saying KP is arrogant AND that he 'needed to be dropped'. What's he ever said that's arrogant? Or, what's he ever done that's arrogant? I've heard plenty of people *SAY* that he's arrogant but I've never actually heard *him* say anything arrogant. Secondly, he's our best player consistently over the last 4 years (i.e. since he started playing). You don't drop your most consistently good player (unless you are mad or an aussie). Finally, those saying he did nothing at Lords - he was actually involved in critical partnerships in both the first and second innings. His average of 38 in each inning is far below *his* test average, but is only 2 runs below Bell's career test average. I've been following England since the mid-70s and KP is EASILY our best batsman since I started watching.

Hampstead is nearer to central London than Dulwich, surely - or at least the same distance away? -
Yep you're right Ted - completely forgot about that series (but had just moved to the USA back then). We actually won the first and last tests in that series...

Thinking of having the birth in a private hospital
Sherwick replied to Sherwick's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Well we don't want a home birth but having the antenatal checks at home and a regular contact with someone we get to know (and who gets to know us) is appealing.... -
Thinking of having the birth in a private hospital
Sherwick replied to Sherwick's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks again everyone. We're with The Gardens surgery (again via recommendations by this forum) and were wondering if we join the community midwives through the surgery or do we contact them directly? We had our first booking meeting today at King's, which went well, and Anna (the midwife who saw us) told us to book an appointment with Stella in The Gardens. Is Stella part of these 'community midwives'?? Will Stella get us on get on the books with the community midwives or is this something we do separately. Apologies for stupid questions.. :( -
Fine innings, Sir. Now enjoy your retirement in the Great Pavilion in the sky.

Bat for another 12 to 14 overs (about 1 hour), score another 79 runs to take lead to 600. Stick them in. BTW, thought Prior's innings today was great - his 50 off 37 balls must be one of the fastest Ashes 50s ever, surely?

Thinking of having the birth in a private hospital

Thanks everyone. To be honest I don't know the difference between going private for the birth (i.e. using someone like The Birth Centre) and using a midwifery practice like Albany/ Brierley. In fact, I don't even know what a 'midwifery practice' is! Is this a private service? :-$
