  1. There is a fantastic one just outside Prague I know of, and a good one too just south of Helsinki. C'MON - HELP YOURSELF!!!! How far do you want to travel to set up site? Any preferences as to the part of the country you'd like to be?

Were I not so keen on cycling, (and also not have an office in my back bedroom), I would have bought a scooter for commuting. Benefits are enormous compred to public transport, HOWEVER, I'd suggest if you do go down this route then you get yourself some beginners lessons. SGP said "I didn't need any lessons" - This is a little worrying as there are a lot of people out there on scooters who seem to have taken the same approach, and are an accident waiting to happen! There is a place at Catford Dog track that do lessons, and they are all very good instructors. Being on two wheels (I have owned three 750 bikes in my time, so feel qualifies to offer this advice) is a lot different to being on 4 and the simplest things, such as a wet manhole cover, or white lines can have you on your side before you know what's what. Also, lessons will teach you to ride defensively, (Which I should point out is not the same as riding aggreessively!) and basically stay alive. The other thing is protective clothing. People seem to think that because you're on a scooter that a suit, or a skirt and blouse is adequate protection. If you come off at 25 mph, you hit the ground with the same force, and will lose the same amount of skin, irrespective of it being a 49cc or a 120cc bike sliding along beside you. You'll feel more of a knob having gravel scrubbed out of your legs and hands in a&e than you ever will by riding a small bike in protective clothing. Oh, and the other thing. Scooters can be picked up and put in the back of a van. it's happened to two people in our road, so if you can, use a F*** off big ABUS chain and tie it to some solid street furniture! Hope it goes well for you E

And if anyone cares we didn;t make it last night after all. Mrs Plot was a bit too knackered, so we ordered in. Still never made it there then....this is possibly fate at work. Still, can't believe what a fuss there has been on here about a chippy!! Free speach, don't you love it!

  6. Hi Snorky, You say "Update" but I can't find anything about this when I search, was was the story then? I presume you parked in the car park, (and went into Lidl??) and then got done for it. LTP

Straight on-ish into valley road, the right into Sunnyhill, then arounf the one way to Tooting beck road. Left down Fransiscan, and keep going into Mellison, then right left onto Colliers Wood Road, and stright out to the A3. Bets tip has to be though go about 3:30, and use the bus lanes whereever you can, as london has the dosiest drivers who just automatilly stay out of the buslanes. Number of times I've had a clear route between Camberwell and the Oval as everyoine is sitting in the RH lane is unbelievable!
  9. The stones Lyrics...."Hey! You! Get off of my cloud" Or people who say "Get off of the bus" Mick, if you're reading this then "Hey! You! Get off-a my cloud" would scan just as well... Anyone else who does this...DON'T!
  10. Ant, I'd suggest getting a bike, though for the benefit of your cow-orkers, make sure you have a shower at the far end! I use to cycle ED to St Pauls every day, and it really does set you up, having arrived, then showering and getting to your desk nice and clean and relaxed! As well as the bus lanes there are cycle routes, so chances of death are much reduced. Try www.tfl.go.uk for a cycling planner. It'll probably take about 30 mins if you're reasonably fit on a decent bike. E

If you have canon lenses, then financially I'd stick with the same brand, assuming lenses are compatible (I.E. an EOS mount) If you don't and it's a clean slate, then I would suggest you try both of them on the shop to see what suits your hands and head better. Being blunt, both cameras will perform to a high level, that to the untrained eye will be indistinguishable, so see which you feel more comfortable with. So, pick them up, play with them, and then make a choice I believe that Calumet will be easily persuaded to refund a rental if you buy the cameras from them, (assuming you like it first!) One other persuader could be that Canon are offering ?50 cashback on the 400D, which as it has the dust cleaning sensor would make it my choice, if budget could streatch to it. (I nearly traded my 1Ds in for one of these just to eliminatew the dust issue on images, but decided agains as it feels too small for my hands, esp after the 1Ds and 1DMK2 I use.) Hope this has helped, but fear it's probably raised more questions in your mind!) Eric

  18. Hi, Having caught something horrible each time I've been in the ED Pool I'll never go there again, so wondered oif others can recommend local pools? Is the Pulse open again yet? Also, I hear JAGS has a pool, and a membership just for the pool, can anyone confirm? Thanks!

ED IS trendy, by the fact that it's not like **every** other high street. Lets hope it stays this way! Who wants to be trendy...trends change..... E

As a mile is 1609m you can assume that to be roughtly a mile. The Zero meter marker is past this point, opposite the entrance to the kids playground. Hope this helps someone! Of course, if you join Dulwich Park Runners then you can either join the Tuesday or Thursday runs, or one of the beginner courses. Our speeds range from Seven minute mile people to 15 minute mile people, so can accomodate pretty much anyone...except Olympic chapmions ;-)

I hate that too, but think it's because you're going no-where, and it's not like you have achieved anything. Considered joining Dulwich Park Runners?

It would be nicer still to have somewhere to go whwre there is NOT going to be a match on. I dream if the day when pubs start to advertise F1 or rallying or other forms of motorsport instead of the usual football/rugby combination!!!
