It has that benefit, but for me the benefit is to avoid the buggies and screaming ferrals by shopping at either 7:30am as I did to day, or about midnight. Problem is at midnight it is chaotic with stacking trolleys. Morning is better, everything is displayed correctly, all facing forward nice and neatly and really appeals to my desire for order and neatness ;-) SO much so I was in too minds about getting my Soya mild from the row behind, so as not to ruin anyones good work... I think I may need help...

There was, when I was using it regularly back in 2005 there was a lady selling coffee, but unlie Sam, swho is in Denmark hill, she was all a bit miserable. Still the coffee was nice. I personally think the downside to that place is the ferral children hanging around, and of course the crime in the area. (Where my Moutain Bike was nicked from about 6 weeks ago.) Curious though you say you can;t shop....what sort of shopping do you want? I woudl have thought that between LL and Peckham Rye you'd be able to get most things? E

I run with Dulwich Park Runners (Beginners lessons starting soon - Watch that website) , so run with the fast peeps quite regular, but am always looking for others to run with, it just make the runs more enjoyable, even if you don't chat much.

Do you remember them playing the Comsat Angels "Independance Day" that night? One of their B Sides. Just before they launched into it Melissa spoke to someone at the front of the crowd. That was me.. I had e-mailed them, when I found out they were playing, and said I've seen you play 13 times now but you have never played Independance Day when I've seen you, please please please play it. They did, Melissa spoke to me, and i fell in love with her all over again. God they were good live...

However it wasn't the first, or sadly the last time a bus has caused a death. Difference was that some made a decision to jump, and they made the wrong decision. Harsh statement I know, but correct. As mentioned there was a refit programme, a lot of money spent (I meam millions) and within 4 years they were gone. Just seems a bit fishy that's all... does it not?

Brendan, Sadly the issue is that once onboard there's not much in the way of storage for a chair, like modern busses have those big standing areas, so would block other passengers exits also. Chatting to one guy on the last day, who was in a chair, he said he didn't want them to go. Though he himself didn't use them (He said London is a pain to get around in, in a chair wayway as too crowded so he didn't bother) and appreciated that they were designed in a time when there was less consideration for such folks, he saw how convenient they were for people who could use them, and as they make up the vast majority of the population why should his small minority dictate the needs to the vast majority. Must say it was an incredibly refreshing view. Shots from the day here

Wow, someone else who's heard of them!!! Still one of my fave bands of all time. Saw them about 14 times in total, Still madly in love with Melissa...(Sigh)

A quick poll as I took my morning constituional revealed that within the blux boxes with the dividers in it people seem to just lump everything in together. I thought it was glass one side, plastic and tin the other. But this Widget conundrum seems to counter this!?!?! So what shoudl be the correct combinations. Oh, and while I'm about it. It makes me seeth that if someone (Not me I may add, but someone who shares my bins) goes to the trouble of putting all their papers into a large bag, as they no longer have space in the blue bag, then surely the council shoudl take it? Do they? Do they hel1 as like! Seems all this effort to save the planet is being undermined by some petty rules because the right sort of bag is not being used. (Going ot calm down now as typing this has got me all angry about it again - Stupid ?^?*^$"&"* Idiots......1....2...3..4..5...6...7...8)

It's called looking after yourself and not blaming others for your own stupidity. > Of course, there is a cost... The money has already been wasted.... About 4 years before the Routemasters were withdrawn a large number of them were fitted with more up to date engines (Cummins -IIRC) the idea being to give them a continued life in service until about 2015 when it would have to be withdrawn to meet Disability act cut off date for Public vehicles (2017) (Again - IIRC) At this time, and when electioneering Red Ken said "Only some ghastly dehumanised moron would want to get rid of the Routemaster." He got to power and killed them all. In the world of busses there are suspicions that there may have been some backhanded shennanegins about getting the Bendy Buses into the capital. On the disability side of things. Yes, they were not accessible, hence they were to be withdrawn to meet a deadline decreed,....Are Bendy Busses wheelchair friendly? Ask someone trying to get on one in Oxford street at 5pm... And also the Routemaster was less polluting than the busses that replaced it. Furthermore, in terms of more effective transport the Bendy busses do not match the carrying capacity of a Routemaster, when you consider the space they take up on the road.
  20. ClareC Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Def think it may be a point scoring game the drivers play! I wrote a piece on the last Routemater journey in London and as part of that interviewed a guy who was into his busses (He owned a couple) He told me a story about a chap who was well know in one depot. He use to say to his conductors "You get them on, I'll sit them down" As for busses simply pulling out. Yes, it is in the highway code now to allow busses to pull out, Section 198 HOWEVER there does seem to be total disregard for Section 112 anyone overtaking them, and committed to the manoeuvre. Just pulling out when they want, causing you all sorts of problems. Of course come up with any comments and you just get a mouthful or a load of attitude. I hold all my licences, so understand about driving large vehicles in crowded streets, and it's not easy. But I do wonder if sometimes they are their own worst enemy.
  21. > 0181... > 081... > and for maximum points: > 01... Or more irritatingly 0208 ..... Grrrr! I have seen an 01 XXX XXXX recently, but can't remember where. It may have been when the facias above the new $hitestuff store were removed I think...
  22. Open message to Jamie. Seems every time I go in your bar I'm between beers. Something has just finished, and the next delectation has not be delivered, or is still settling. So end up with another pint of Sussex Gold. Any chance you could give me a clue when you normally have stuff go on sale, or maybe even better, any chance you could post a message saying what's gone on sale? I like a drink, but usually one night a week. Quite happy to change my night if it means I get to taste more beers! Hope I'm not being cheeky here!

  24. Leave the car clean inside, and leave the glovebox open. A sign on the dash saying "There is nothing left in this car overnight" may also do the trick. If they can see it is all empty then they may get bored. Otherwise wire it to the mains and hopefully kill the little $hits...
  25. Has it still got the guy there who shouts at everyone through his microphone? My favourite of all time being "C'mon, it's time to get dressed we're shutting soon. Get dressed and go home!"
