  2. I have to say my postie as a Gem! Always polite, and will call me over if he sees me in the street to give me my post, to same me having to collect stuff. Funny thing was I went to the sorting office to collect some stuff last week during the strike and he was on the Picket line. Had a chat and that, nice fella... Agree with you P'Rose. A service can still be made to run efficiently, but it with profit as a goal...HHHmmmmm. Still have to say though, is one of the best value services given whjat is achieved for the price. E
  3. Hi All, I'm looking for people's views about open topped motoring. (For a piece I'm writing) Anyone out there car to share their views pleas? Just what is that people like about them? Is it the wind in the face/hair, the sense of openness, the pose value, and so i guess vanity of them? What's your view? Eric PS Edited to remove my cack typing mistooks...

Is that one of those Palindrome pills.....The ones that don't do anything, but make you think they are doing somthing? I might come along tonight now, but only stay for a couple as I have a 6am start.....I should be easy to spot....all will become apparent.
  5. OH Glad it's not just me that takes shots of these! (And other notice boards...)
  6. Surely it is the question of wanting to be with your partner and not the financial incentives that should be the basis for your decision? Or am I being old fashioned?
  7. Alan, Even though my commute involves walking upstairs to my office, I can assure you this will have my full support. Can't let this sort of thing affect those who actually need the service to get to and from work. Eric

  10. Brendan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Want to do mine? Funily enough I was wondering of there is a market for a speed ironing service. You drop off your items at mine,, and go shopping in sainsburys, and collect about half an hour later. ?2 per item, minimum 10 items. Would anyone here take that up as a service? Means I get paid to watch the telly....
  11. All, I'd like ot get along to one of these but each time it's clashed with work, or Mr's Plot's birthday (That was only once though so a bit of a weak excuse....) Hopefully November's
  12. Watched WRC Spain, which I had taped. C'mon Gronholm!! The Rugby - Felt the cracked a bit with that last push forward. Louis Theroux - Fascinating, though saddened he had lipo himself. Got all my ironing done too, and with a new iron.* Good hole for water filling and no "choking" Grip was surprisingly chunky, even for my hand, though steam delivery was faultless. Ongoing test reports if required. E * I enjoy ironing, find it very theraputic. "Ironing Enthusuiast" as my nephew terms me...
  13. Jamie, How about Jacks, on the same road as the Magdala. That's got a back room and an outside bit to it. E

Michael Palaeologus Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think alot of cynicism is created when people > dont find the right counsellor for them and then > assume that all counselling is the same. I agree with Michael here. Being Northern I've always an eye on my wallet, so when someone sits and listens to you for an hour, for ?45 you have to wonder who's helping who? That was the one thing I "discovered" - "Don't be afraid to express your feelings" so I didn't and stated what I felt, left a cheque and walked out, never to return. As I have said to Gerry in a PM conversation, I think there are two issues here. Firstly we Brits are quite reserved about such stuff, so all hang ups are cured with "Have a cup of tea" And of course I feel people of my era, growing up in the 70's knew people in the place we lived who were "Bad with their nerves" Or if the truth be told whacked out of their minds or drugs of the NHS. That brought with it a stigma. Sadly, I think that stigma is in our minds as adults, so we have an aversion to that. Until that stigma is overcome then I think the industry will always struggle. Sadly, I think the whole grieving "resurgence" that has come about, Post-Diana, that willingness to show it, has also been counter productive. Though I'm all for a good cry, I have had friends that took to seeing a councilor as it seemed to be the right thing to do. Almost a badge of honour. So where am I going with this? I'm not sure, I just wanted to talk about it...:))

As I said it was a general comment, not aimed specifically at your nipper, who I too hope is OK, but Sean's first sentence summed it up. It was a throw away comment.

Young or old, people with sight problems, people in chairs and so on. Point I was making is that people have to learn to adapt to their environment. It is part of growing up, as I said, we've all learnt lessons by hurting ourselves. Dodgy pavement, take a bit of care. Climbing a tree, take more care, and so on. It wasn't a dig at you and your kid, it was a point made in general, and a light-hearted one at that. If I do fall and hurt myself, and it happens, then I don't look to blame the kerb, pavement. I have the legs, I choose to put my feet where I do, if I fall, well, that's my own fault. It's called taking responsibilities for your own actions, and not seeking to blame others. > If you've nothing constructive to say yourself why not button it? I think if you check my earlier posting I have been constructive to (the other) Paul, suggesting a route to possibly resolving an issue raised.
