  1. Hi, Looking for a photographer to come to our house on Croxted Rd SE21 to take some snaps for a house swapping website. Will also need one or two family shots. Please DM me asap if interested - 07557 188202 Thanks Gary
  2. Zac Baker ( 07486 012182) did a first class job of hanging the door to our office. A very tricky operation due to the poor condition of the frame and the way it had been previously hung. Zac not only built up the door using small sections of flat wood but also the frame using dowels and filler, as well as new hinges. The finished job is amazing and the door now opens and closes perfectly. He is also friendly, honest and genuine, and takes real pride in his work. I've known him for years as the drum teacher to our sons, but this is the first time I've asked him to help with some carpentry. It won't be the last! Thoroughly recommended.
  3. Can also recommend Dave from Down the Drain. Came round to unblock my drains after we had some very bad smells coming into the house. He and his colleague were friendly, polite, knowledgeable and took care to not make a mess in the house. Would use again.
  4. Hi, Can anyone please recommend a decent tailor that is fairly local? Would like to get some bespoke men's work trousers. Cheers G
  5. I see there are workmen in and out of this shop every day - any idea what it will become? And what's the deal with the Old Amusements Shop? - I thought this had planning permission to be turned into a funky bar but all seems quiet at the moment.
  6. Anyone who lives on or near Whateley Road will know who we are referring to. Without giving too much away, I seriously suggest reporting ANY anti-social behaviour to the Police Station at the end of the road (as I have done) and if they receive enough complaints there's a very good chance of them taking action. The police recently posted a leter through our door saying the same thing so they are very aware of the situation. This may sound like a witch hunt to some but it's really not very nice.
  7. Great news Kat! I'm vegetarian too (although dog does sound incredibly tempting) - can't wait to check out what you have to offer. Best of luck, I'm sure we'll be regulars.
  8. Thanks Laura for that brilliant response. Ignore the moaners and the cynics - my wife and I can't wait for you to open and I'm sure it'll be a roaring success.
  9. Could anyone please tell me what are my options in ED with regards to swimming. It needs to be fairly close and as cheap as possible. Thank you.
  10. Yep, definitely becoming a woman's clothes shop owned by Mrs Robinson. I was in there the other week and the owner confirmed it. Personally I think it'll be yet another great addition to Lordship Lane. Just need a really cool mens clothes shop now.
  11. I think it's a fantastic addition to Lordship Lane. Sure, other gyms are cheaper but I bet they don't pay the rent that ESPH probably are and they definitely don't offer the service. Very best of luck with it Max. Just one question - what will the exterior look like when finished and will there be an entrance from LL and the street to the side?
  12. As somone who remains a fan, I'd argue that U2 are one of the very few acts (perhaps the only major one) whose music hasn't become a sad parody of their former glory days. Most acts lose that essential ingredient, passion, but I reckon they still have it in spades. Go along to a U2 gig and you'll still get plenty of tunes from the latest and most recent albums that don't act as a signal for the audience to go buy the next round. Can't ever be said for the Rolling Stones, Who, Prince etc etc.. So Bono has a bit of a messianic complex and can occasionally get on your t*ts, big deal. Are there any half decent performers out there that don't? It's his job. If you've followed what he's been up to the last few years (with DATA, RED, ONE campaign etc) you'll see that far from being someone famous jumping on a planet saving bandwagon, he really knows his stuff. Sometimes more than the politicians and campaigners he works with. Just ask Jeffrey Sachs. Plus, in the f*cked up world of rock n roll, not only have the same four schoolfriends kept together for thirty years, but he's also been married to his childhood sweetheart for 25. Gotta say something for the man. As he says, celebrity is currency and I think he chooses to spend it wisely.
  13. Went in this afternoon for a takeaway coffee, got chatting to the owner and she very kindly gave me a croissant for free! So maybe I'm a little biased but its a delightful new addition to Lordship Lane - fabulous choice of teas/coffees/cakes etc. Check out the funky upstairs area too if you have time. I've a feeling it's going to very busy tomorrow(especially with the William Rose queue virtually opposite!)
