  1. sorry MP - never bother following the links
  2. Don't get me wrong, the "however" was in no way meant to excuse any one from not doing as much as they can to minimise their carbon footprint. Personally, I bet I outgreen all of you!! (could be a new thread in the offing) It was merely to point out the irony in the shots in the film - but then the Americans apparently don't get irony.
  3. Very interesting film on this subject called "Inconvenient Truth" which is following Al Gore (failed US presidential candidate) who is passionate about the subject and does talks all over the world. It is well worth watching and is pretty frightening stuff. HOWEVER: lots of shots of him looking wistfully out of aeroplane windows as he goes from place to place giving the lectures!
  4. sunrise for me please (done in sign language so as to remain quiet)
  5. needs some fine tuning but it would have to be an allowance per person that actually does reduce the overall miles flown per year.
  6. Well A - business people don't always have to fly, there are video phones, conference calls etc and they would be the ones purchasing miles off the likes of you. B - if you must go to Australia although frankly too many poisonous things there(:))) you also could purchase TT's miles.
  7. Good idea TT. I could go with that (if I'm brave enough to face the EDF)
  8. and couldn't take off my vest?
  9. I have to agree. I think we should all be allotted a number of air miles or hours a year. Those that don't use then can sell them to those that feel they need more and when you've used them up - too bad. What do you think? Who do I need to speak to? bloody good idea - someone will steal it now. Any politicians on the forum to get the ball rolling?
  10. I'm stuck
  11. I looked like a twit
  12. could not move my arms
  13. New one: While sitting alone at my desk (challenge you to rhyme desk) Or: While alone in the office
  14. cricket played by men with very hard balls
  15. *slopes in, very bedraggled, two wheels from ED to Queens Park in the rain* *feeling virtuous though and deserve a drink* thinks: is it too early for tequila? *tosses tillie the apostrophes she missed out* ''''
  16. Just cycled up Wally Road and was actually fairly quiet. Only prob for two wheels now is the lack of bus lanes which used to afford a modicum of security from the loony drivers.
  17. Have you not noticed the major roadworks that have been going on for the last six months or more on Wally Rd? temporary traffic lights, road narrowing etc. All conspires to cause massive delays. Part of the huge regeneration of the Elephant & Castle area. Best to be avoided or two wheels good!
  18. this one's gone a bit funny (that is not a contribution)
  19. I haven't read the whole thread so don't know if this one's been mentioned already - Last year Kelly Brook and Billy Zane having coffee at the deli in the village. Deli had never been so busy! I was sitting in the Dog one afternoon when the Queen and her hubby drove through the village, fairly low key only two outriders with them. They were however in the tall windowed fish tank style car so we got a good look. Apparently Erin O'Conner lives in ED and has been spotted in Sainsbury's.
  20. several probably are
  21. Climbing Hydrangea is a shade lover, Jasmine also will grow in shade. The fabulous tree fern Dixonia (?) poss spelt with an cks likes a shady spot too (not exactly native) - why the native tag, depending how far back you go not that many plants are native. What kind of plant do you want? Flowering, climbing, bushy shrub?
  22. come on then
