  1. I know the guy who designed the logo - he's had to leave his house as journos have been camped outside harrassing him!
  2. one can never have too many of either you know.:))
  3. I think Muttley is referring to the misspelling of the word definitely SimonM and hence the misspelling of competetive
  4. Ganapati, it is merely an observation. I'm not saying all parents make their children scared of dogs but I have witnessed that behaviour in the park, and I'm not sure I said anything "adamantly" as you put it. Personally I have given my son a fear of wasps due to my own irrational fear of the little buggers, which is the point I was making about dogs. You have blown what I said entirely out of proportion. I'm not saying don't be careful. I take offence at your comment in brackets and feel that it was uncalled for. I have not said anything to the detriment of you personally and would expect you to show the same courtesy to me. I agree that young children should never be left alone with any type of dog, all dogs can be dangerous. Most cases of dogs killing children however take place by the family pet inside the family home, not a random dog in the park. The argument is not about that, it is about the unnecessary leashing of all dogs in public places, which is what I disagree with even though I have no dog and young children.
  5. stick it through their letter box hahahaha>:D< They'll be fined soon won't they according to the point at the start of this thread
  6. rubbish, how many kids get mauled by dogs in the park? Anyone got the stats? any way you're obviously biased being a cat person:))
  7. Just tucking into mine now - with cheese aswell. I usually find that cheese makes wine taste better myself. I heard once that wine dealers buy it with apples and sell it with cheese. Anyway, I do like this but it's not as nice as the Chinon that I get from Sainsburys (?5.49). I've chilled it but possibly a bit too much and it may get softer as it warms up. I think this wine goes better with a proper meal rather than just cheese as Ant and I are having it. Gawd knows what flavours etc I'm supposed to be getting, the Sainsbury's blurb on their bottle says pencil lead! Mr Asset thinks it's nicer than the Sainsbury's one but then we never agree on wine.
  8. What do you mean played - as in an audio recording of him speaking being played in the men's room? Weird, maybe it's so you think he's cooking in the kitchen. What is he saying? Is he reading from his books?
  9. and now she is hearty and hale
  10. don't apologise BB - I didn't take offence. TT's right - the veggies rock!!
  11. Scrambled eggs were awful when I had brekky there and no baked beans included in the breakfast plate!
  12. dangerous dogs The article states Staffs as included in the Dangerous Dogs bracket, may not actually be included in the Dangerous Dogs Act yet but probably soon will be. The Act only states Pit Bull Terrier Type dogs and Japanese Tosas Pit Bull is a term that describes several types of dogs with similar physical characteristics. The American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier and to a lesser extent, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier commonly fall under the category of "pit bull." Wikipedia
  13. Oh Gawd didn't make it there today, are they open tomorrow?
  14. I only said that 'cos you said you were cooking for 20! I meant the disposable ones which are quite small. Have fun.:)- Oy TT - it would be no fun without the veggies
  15. but I'm stuck in with the old dears
  16. Oh God Ganapati - stop taking it so personally. I never at any point said you, you have just taken it on yourself that I'm attacking you. Get over it. I stand by what I said, it is parents that cause children to be scared of dogs in the main. I'm entitled to an opinion as are you.
  17. Sorry Karter - you can't use bins again, it was used in the first line.
  18. I would say, as a veggie, two barbies best. Or do veggie stuff first. Depends how rabid the veggies are but most of us would not want to taste the burning flesh on our food. If you are catering for 20 people you are going to need several bbqs I would have thought. Some things cook quicker than others anyway so a rotation vibe will be necessary. good luck us veggies are a pain!
  19. the rats are all swarming
  20. To answer Ganapati - yes I do have children, I have tried to ensure that they do not have an irrational fear of dogs by not freaking out every time a dog comes near them. As for risk assesment, I have known several grumpy labradors and one extremely friendly rottweiler so don't let appearances fool you. I would love to have a dog but if this new law comes in it's pointless as I can't see myself running after the ball with the dog on the lead! A move to the country maybe in the future where I will have lots of dogs running around, oh hang on - the law will probably cover them as well - what about sheepdogs? how's that going to work?
  21. it's relevant as the majority of dogs and owners are being punished for the few who have dangerous dogs. The people who have dangerous dogs will most likely ignore the law anyway. Leaving the majority with perfectly safe controllable dogs unable to let them have a decent run in the park. It's a case of health and safety gone mad - again.
  22. and catches us all on the hop
  23. It has been shown that the energy taken to recycle glass is less damaging to the environment than taking the raw materials and using them to make glass. Likewise plastics which are made from by-products of the oil industry - that will run out soon anyway.
  24. I will sign the petition, I agree. Most dogs are perfectly able to be off the leash without being a danger to anyone. Being on a lead is not going to stop them pooing and will not compel the owners to clean it up. Unfortunately it is usually the attitude of parents that makes children scared of dogs, scooping them out of the way whenever a dog comes near. There is already a law which states that Staffordshire type dogs must be on a lead in public places but that is ignored.
  25. I had a conversation with someone a while ago at the recycling dept of Southwark to ask exactly which plastics we could recycle (you know they are all numbered) as it is fairly vague on the leaflets, and she couldn't tell me. She said just stick it all in which is what I do!
