  1. oooh *Bob*, they look like the Gucci loafers I used to sport in the late eighties
  2. yes but we subsidise non smokers also - all those ill people, gawd - and many smokers don't end up in hosp due to their affliction and just pop off quietly after 50 years of 20 a day. Let's abolish the NHS.
  3. gawd, Islington - how poncy and middle class
  4. Any of you chaps (or girls for that matter) aware of the FACT that vegetarian women taste sweeter than meat eating ones? I've been veggie since I was 7 (a while ago) and whilst it was originally due to a soppy, not wanting to kill likkle bitty animals, is now more of a lifestyle choice. I have no problem with people eating animals, food chain and all that, but as has been discussed here before is more to do do with factory farming etc etc etc. and health issues. Someone mentioned here earlier - I'm sure tongue in cheek - 'pasty looking vegans', I am a pretty healthy specimen (hypochondria notwithstanding), as are my veggie kids.
  5. yeah but you know what? I have watched two establishments (Fads and another) on Wally Road close over the last couple of months to be replaced with.......a BETFRED and some arcade game place. Not that LL is in that league yet, but soon come.
  6. what did the person on the phone say when you challenged them about the non-existent meeting?
  7. And just as back up to my previous comment: Information here: Cuba

  11. and FYI as far as 'proper' etiquette goes, apparently it is perfectly acceptable to eat asparagus with ones fingers in polite company.
  12. "I agree you can have too much hygiene. As long as they're fresh ingredients freshly cooked, they're usually OK. " Thinking about this comment I can't agree. I agree to some extent about the over sterilisation of our world but as far as basic hygiene in a kitchen goes, it is an essential requirement. Most food poisoning is caused by a lack of hygiene rather than 'bad' food and I would prefer my food to be prepared by someone who has clean hands in a clean environment. I would say a lack of hygiene in the kitchen equates to a lack of respect for food whcih result in poor storage and preparation.
  13. every week is veggie week in our hoose. would be interesting to see how Franklins deals with it
  14. just googled it Ant, it seems it's about 40% of the population and it's something to do with the body producing methyl mercaptan after eating asparagus. Also not everyone that produces it can smell it. Funny old world.
  15. I was sure that I read that in a post prior to Zebedee quoting it. Don't know who wrote it and it's disappeared now. curious.
  16. good in a pasta primaver makes your pee smell asparagusy for extra added fun.
