  1. Last chance to raise any objections to the North Dulwich CPZ (closes this Thursday 21st Jan)... you can fill in a form at https://forms.southwark.gov.uk/ShowForm.asp?fm_fid=1081 I agree that CPZs are much more about creating a useful revenue stream than making it easier for residents to park.
  2. Only ?200 short of goal now, and a few hours left...
  3. It's now on ?11,434, I've just done a small pledge, it would be brilliant to see if the forum can get this one up and running!
  4. Agree it's brilliant, but it closes January 17th not April! Definately worth a second visit...
  5. Vetoes?
  6. I agree it would be good to involve a third party, a priest or palliative care nurse, they might be able to speak on your mother's behalf. There was an article in the Guardian recently which might be helpful http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/nov/27/father-death-stepmother-deathbed-personal-problem-solved-bereavement-grief How sad, it must be very hard for you.
  7. Catching myself singing Bob Marleys 'Burnin and Lootin' walking along East Dulwich Grove, misremembering the words so actually singing 'this morning I woke up in the ghetto' (yes I know it's curfew, same difference in this context)... me a white 60s+ Dulwich resident. Suggestions for more site-relevant lyrics welcome.
  8. Not a new trend where we live! I'm resigned to it...

  11. Hmm, Adobe Pagemaker a bit old school? Go for Adobe Indesign, you can use it for flyers, brochures, posters etc. Photoshop is primarily image editing and Illustrator is for vector graphics and is used for illustration, typography etc.

    Labour Leadership

Ratty says ? "My heart says Corbyn"... so does mine, and maybe it's time to follow hearts ? if following heads involves any of the other candidates who I honestly think are no more likely to win the next election, they are either too tainted or too mealy-mouthed. The Labour party hasn't represented me for years, despite my desire to be a Labour voter, so I'm going to give the man a chance, at the very least he'll stir things up ? and he has the support of all the young voters I've spoken to (I'm well over the hill).
  13. Agree with JL, upstairs front seat everytime for me...

  15. Did you agree an hourly rate in advance? I think you need to somehow have a review and tell her roughly what you expect her to cover, it sounds as though you didn't start off on the right foot! Good luck

  18. Most charity shops will take them... or there's an Oxfam book shop in Herne Hill that certainly would.

  21. Maybe investigate a currency card like Caxton FX at least for early on or as a back up ? he/you can load the card as he goes along, so if it gets stolen he doesn't lose the lot. As long as you have something in place to reassure yourself, I'd let him go ahead and do his own planning (or not), and make mistakes ? he'll learn more that way!
  22. Mine was addressed to the lovely person in Brixton... don't want to be picky but I'm definately not a Brixtonian. I'm sticking with this forum for my local news thanks, not sure why a San Francisco based organisation is so interested in our neck of the woods ;)
  23. I've been bitten before, not this year yet! They can get infected so definately recommend going to the doctor if it doesn't clear up quickly... I needed antiobiotics for one bite.
  24. Really? That seems a bit harsh... as a cyclist I've never personally had a problem, thought it was a colouful bit of local advertising. My gran had one of those hoovers, it had headlight on the front to highlight those carpet crumbs, brilliant idea!
  25. There's another one at Brockwell Lido on the 10th, I think that's a monthly one...
