Agree, late 80s they were becoming commonplace. Agree with Doffman re fusion tea, we use a breakfast teabag with a pinch of loose Earl Grey though. Tea leaves in the sink a small (but slightly annoying) price to pay.
I've used the Beckenham line today without problem... the nat rail website is reasonably up to date, but they don't seem to know which trains are running on time much in advance. Safest to check the 'live departures' board on the site to check how things are running.
