  1. Trimphones ( ours was a blue/grey combination).
  2. Molly I was thinking exactly the same thing! I wish they'd tell us the birth weights sometimes. I agree Abbey's boyfriend showed incredible maturity for his age and her mum was great. It does seem like lot of emergency c sections but at least they go back to the mother afterward to see how well she's doing and enjoying her baby. Another great episode this week.
  3. Also, there are design plans for the new playground on the Noticeboards on the Green. I noticed them whilst out with the dog, itlooks like quite an interesting development.
  4. If you look on the Noticeboards on Goose Green you can see the plans. I don't frequent the playground these days but the plans do look exciting. Like you I'm surprised none of us knew. I literally saw the plans this last weekend.
  5. akc74, welcome to East Dulwich. Stella and the midwives who provide cover for her are part of King'e College East Team. They have a great deal of experience and also provide home births for those women 'in area' requesting same. Those midwive will also be caring for you after you have gone home so you will have has a level of continuity but not the same level that The Lanes could have done because obviously they have to limit their numbers. If you're having a baby around here, you're not alone, you should find lots of post natal groups locally tp provide ongoing support as does this forum!
  6. Goldilocks, assuming you have been to your GP to tell them you're pregnant, the referral they would have made would automatically have generated a scan appointment . This is usually done from 12 weeks to 13 and a half weeks. If toy've referred yourself directly to Brierly without telling your GP I would let them know. Either way to not have heard this early on would not be unusual, you'll probably recieve the appointment when you're about 8 or 9 weeks. Good luck.
  7. I agree Sillywoman. I regularly walked my children from Goose Green to St Anthony's from Reception onwards and home again. It was not a problem for me or for tham.
  8. Many will have noticed that The Blackbird Bakery changed premises not long after it began business. The old premises has had a lot of work done recently. I wondered if anyone knew what was happening?
  9. This takes me back. I can't remember exactly when mine went to a one nap a day schedule but it's probably wise to let that one be decent one if you want the child to last without a further nap. I agree with melbourne groover, a decent one to two hours can be a real lifeline for getting things done or having a well earned rest. I remember my childminder telling me with delight that my (then baby) daughter had had two 2 hour sleeps in the day! I couldn't blame her for allowing it, if I was a childminder I'd have done the same. All I can suggest is that you allow the post lunch sleep to be a good one, avoid a mid morning sleep if you can and don't take him out in his buggy at those 'vulnerable' times. Good luck snowboarder. On a lighter note you wouldn't believe the decibels my voice reaches when attempting to extract my sixteen year old daughter from her bed on school days. That may seem like a luxury to some of you with very young children, I'm not saying it gets easier, it just gets different!
  10. I saw the GP on many occasions when I was pregnant. They are trained to do so, I'm registered at Forest Hill road but had mine before the Oakwood Midwives were established. I had no complaints about my GP's but I think some are better than others. I believe at The Gardens they're pretty good but this is not first hand experience. Hope your pregnancy goes well.
  11. I laughed at that too, poor bloke it was a long haul for him too. Also when he was cluelessly looking for appropriate baby clothes. It was lovely to see them at home afterwards enjoying their baby, it put the whole wxperience into perspective. I also liked the new midwife who I thought had a lovely calming manner. A very wll made programme in my opinion.
  12. Unfortunately you won't be able to get a Consultant over the weekend. Steph don't panic most itching is normal but I agree you need some blood tests done. You can be seen at anytime on the Maternal Assessment Unit at Kings. If you're itching includes the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet, I would go tomorrow, if not it's probably safe to keep your alloted appointment. Sorry if this sounds alarmist!
  13. I suppose one of the sad things about his thread is it took place in a charity shop in which the behaviour was anything but charitable. MIND is a charity for Mental Health. It should recognise human behaviour in all aspects. People have problems but a mother meeting the nutritional needs of her young is normal behaviour by any standards. Spraying fresh air spray around a mother and young children is one of the most ignorant acts I have ever heard of. You wouldn't do that to a customer who could have smelled for complex reasons in their life. ( Who hasn't shared public transport with someone with less than ideal hygiene?) I understand others anger but wouldn't withhold support of charity. I'm sure this is not representative of the organisation as a whole, but thanks for posting FatherJack.

    Moral maze

I've only recently got hooked on the buy and sell section and I think it's great. RosieH, I've bought and sold on E Bay. My conscience would be pretty clear if I was you. E-Bay self regulates. It was a lesson to me when I bought the Nintendo Wii for my son two or three years back ( when they were launched). I hadn't anticipated the arrival of the wii but plenty did. People bought with the absolute knowledge that they could flog them on e-bay for an approximate ?100 instant profit. I paid over the odds but I was grateful to obtain an item that I couldn't get in the shops. Your buyer has to accept responsibility fot their own bidding. That's the way e-bay works . It and you are not registered charities. I am actually curious as to what body ltion is worth ?35.::o
  15. Good idea Peckhamgatecrasher. It sounds like I'm not the only one who has sat on an otherwise quiet bus to hear aomeone loudly giving away unbelievably personal details of their lives.
  16. I agree you shouldn't have to pay. These sort of assessments can easily be upwards of ?300. It worries me that you're in this situation with a 12 year old. Should it not have been picked up at primary school? Wherever he is at school there will be a Special Educational Needs coordinator. Please get some professional advice before spending your money. Good luck Ann
  17. I'd like to second the Vanish Spray. All I do is spray the affected areas before I chuck it in the washer at the usual temperature. Banana stains aren't an issue with me these days but grass stains on cricket whites is another story. If Vanish can work on those stains I rest my case.:)
  18. They've knocked on my door many times and certainly for the first time at least 10 years ago, they're nothing new. The first time I did buy a couple of items but quickly reached the conclusion that the 'mark ups' were far too high. I've since been somewhat abrupt with them and barely opened my door to the young man who approached the other night. If he swore at me a really couldn't say as I returned back to what I was doing but I do think the aggressive style selling is unpleasant to say the least.

    Heaven

Stepping outside to feel the warmth of the sun on your face, haven't felt that lately.
  20. It could have been Virgo Fidelis situated on Central Hill but their uniform is blue and black. It could also have been Norwood Girls on the same road, they wear a purple blazer not sure about the skirt.
  21. Zaardvark, I have no experience of Saturday schools ( with my children) but I believe Kumon works very well. All parents worry about their children but if your child is very young please ask yourself if extra lessons outside of school ours are really beneficial? It might cause more harm than good if it puts stress on the child. Has the teacher recommended Saturday classes? Because they certainly should have if they thought there was a problem. Please don't forget children develop and learn in ways that are as individual as they are. Your child would probably benefit from quality time with his/her parents as much as anything else at this time and there's no doubt you're prepared to provide it.
  22. The next question is. Who's the father of Stacey's baby since poor old Archie wasn't up to it? Or so Ronnies says but frankly her sanity is more doubtful than Stacey's.
  23. What about the shop on Lordship Lane where the Games Arcade used to be? There looks to be a lot of work going on in there.
  24. KrystynaK, I don't need a babysitter but if I did need to get babysitting and ironing done, the rates you've stated are very competitive indeed. Why not advertise your willingness to do ironing separately, there's a section for this on the forum where you might have a wider audience, namely men and busy professional women with little spare time. Good luck.
  25. But out of interest Kristymac1, Would you mind giving us a 'ballpark' idea of how much a cake like that costs? It sounds lovely but my children were born before the digital age so I really wouldn't know. Glad it turned up, hope the party went well.
