I've liked what I've seen from the Co-op brand so far. To be honest I grew up with the Co-op when mum used to get dividend stamps. I can't complain at the prices I've seen so far. Neither do I have an allergic reaction to Iceland. To me it's a shop where it does what it says on the tin. If you look around many of their offers are on branded items. ?1 for 4 pints milk is damn good value in my book and I feel no shame feeding my son and his growth-spurting teenage friends Iceland's Pizzas at ?1.50 each. Let's hope the Co-op is a success locally, it looks like they've kept the same staff. Contrary to others' (EDF) comments in the past, I've always found the staff friendly and helpful and I wish them all well for the future.

Inspiration needed for Summer Holiday with kids...
Ann replied to Bobbaz's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Agree with above posts but am firmly committed to Eurocamp/Keycamp type holidays. We usually go to France and hire a Mobile Home and yes we fly these days ( usually with Ryanair plus car hire). Good quality campsites offer a huge range of entertainment including Kid's Clubs. France never fails to have some delightful local restaurants which are always child friendly. Admittedly I hadn't been on such a holiday with a child as young as yours but with hindsight , would have done. To have a fully functioning kitchen to me is a real Godsend. Anyway have a lovely holiday whatever you choose. -
Is anyone watching "One Born Every Minute" on C4

sillywoman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Errr NCT classes are a start (quick shameless > plug!).:) Good point Sillywoman, but do many of his age attend NCT? Not meant as a criticism to the NCT or him. I felt he did the best he could. It's easy to forget that only a generation away men were not present on the delivery room; they don't exactly have role models as such. Women? Well they've kind of never had much of a choice as participant;-) -
My childs bad behaviour is because he/she is so bright. Discuss

Exactly what is the nature of bad behaviour you're referring to? -

I would agree with craigy's post. He's a young man and where do we prepare our young men for childbirth and parenting? -
Ill considered comment about child cancer patient.

Nappy Lady, I could be wrong but I took helana's post to mean that forums can be intimidating? I can see al ot of truth in her comment. I stated on the We Rock thread this morning that The Family Room is a welcomed area to the (great) EDF. I was put off posting for ages until I got to 'know' you lot! I think Helena has a pretty similar outlook to me bit I could be wrong. -
Bizzylizzy , good point. I'm fairly sure the rules of 'Big Issue' would state that if plonked outside a local supermarket, you may not ask shoppers to shop for you. The item you're describing I think retails at over ?6. It's taking the P*ss.

Seriously I think they can earn quite good money. Certainly in terms of topping up on benefits and I'm not sure if Big Issue earnings are taken into account with the whole assessment. I genuinley don't know.

The young woman outside Somerfield's has had a small child with her on occasion? Therefore she can't be technically homeless. I think in principal it's a great idea but I also think realistically some of the money earned goes back on substances which may well have been the reason why the person was homeless in the first place.

Dulwich Baths - refurbishment timetable
Ann replied to EDmummy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes you can pay as you go but it will work out cheaper with a fusion membership. Can't remember the costs but pretty reasonable. You will have to pay (I think) ?30 for induction and that goes for full membership or pay as you go with fusion card. I worked it out that two trips to the gym per week paying on the day was almost the same as full membership. So if you think you'll go on average nore than two times a week throughout the entire year full membership would be the best bet. You can get the prices off their web site. -

I was just about to ask this question but can see it's been answered. I do hope you're wrong. -
Coudn't agree more, I've been registered on these forums a long time but only started posting when Family Room was set up. I'd have loved it when my children were younger.
-
Good point Little EDfamily, previous threads have verified your point from my memory. Parents do what's best for their children within the cicumatnces they find themselves. Is that really such a big issue?

Nicnocs, congratulations on your pregnancy. All these scans weren't available 'way back' in the 90's when I had my children, if my cervix was short,i never knew it! As ever forummers have given sound advice and encouragement as this section of the forum tends to do. But I do think the trial you're in is pretty specialised; nowhere scans like King's does. Harris Birthright headed by professor Nicholaides are, quite literally world leaders in their field. So take advice from the professionals as well, what you're asking is not the sort of information that you get off say, mumsnet. You're part of unique group and remember you may improve the outcomes for women not yet even pregnant! Please keep us posted. Ann

She had a great attitude didn't she? Shame she had to have the crash cesarean under general anesthetic and not see her baby straight away. Like others have said, two lovely couples. Next weeks instalment should be very interesting. Babies who need intensive care, most of us are lucky enough not to have been through that. Well done the production team, you've done a good job. -
I think it's 14, certainly my daughter has done since that age. If you're happy with your nephew go ahead. I'm sure a lot more boys would babysit if people gave them the chance.

Delighted to hear it prm. Let's hope the reat of your pregnancy goes well, nice of you to post back.

I would try E bay, there's probably loads going second hand. We've got the wii fit board and everything, it's good fun.

Miss World ( when everyone watched). Eurovision Song Contest ( when eveyone watched).

Just to put this all into perspective. I was first pregnant in 1993. The early scan in those days were very basic indeed, I'd be surprised if it took more than 5 minutes. The world renowned Nuchal Test was still at the research stage then. Two years later when pregnant with my son we were one of the first ever 'nuchals' to have been performed as a proven screening test. Happily I was given a low risk, with my first pregnancy I was given no risk at all. Older mothers were offered CVS or Amniocentesis based on age alone They have continued to fine tune the tests ever since, even those of you with ,say, Reception age children will not have had the scans offered today, especially not the early scan. I agree the communication skills are not always the best but you are getting the highest level ante natal scanning pretty much anywhere in the world. Professor Nicholaides is a probably one of the most pioneering doctors of our time. We are very lucky to have that level of expertise on our doorstep. King's also do scans for other hospitals and take referrals for specialist scans from all over. Not meant to sound patronising, sounds like most of you appreciate Harris Birthright at King's but I've read posts in the past that have made me cross.

All I know is that you can't get shingles unless you've had chicken pox, but you can catch chicken pox off someone with shingles if you've never has the disease. I'm not sure there is such a thing as a vaccine against shingles as it is in effect, the chicken pox virus which will still lie dormant. But I could be wrong. I also understood that the prevalence of shingles was worse if you hadn't had a primary chicken pox infection and shingles is usually a more unpleasant illness.
