  1. Just heard them. Could it be 4th July fireworks but a silly time to be letting them off.
  2. I don't remember the cinema in Grove Vale, only the cinema vaguely in Denmark Hill which then became Dicky Dirt's jean place. I used to drive my dear Mum down to Lordship Lane for shopping in International food store and on the way noticed that there was a place called the Palace of Peace? Was there for a good few years.
  3. What a great thread from the OP. There has been a lot of less than ideal bike riding lately. Now we have people riding along on earphones etc. on those horrendous electronic scooters that have become legal today.
  4. Went to Sainsburys around 2 this afternoon and joined the queue of 6/7 people and was in the store within 5 minutes. Came out to a bit of a queue past the cashpoints. Inside there were quite a few empty shelves of stuff that have been in stock over the past few weeks.
  5. I remember the Magdala pub and going there with my sisters and friends in the early 1980s (must have been 1980-1984ish) Lots of happy times and listening to the DJ in the central square area.
  6. Attention
  7. Pubs/Clubs should not be serving alcohol anywhere near the 4th July so this against all Government guidelines.
  8. It's not a strange and unknown land Sue, just a bit different! If you take a stroll down to the junction of East Dulwich Grove and turn left, the 42 bus stop is just along outside the children's nursery there and is a good way of travelling to King's College Hospital.
  9. Agree with what the poster cordsm said. My neighbours have been having regular get togethers with their families and children for the past month. Today there were lots of children in the garden mixing and having fun together but they could have been at school.
  10. No queue this afternoon and pretty much empty inside.
  11. Measurement
  12. Separated
  13. The toilets in Dulwich Park were always pretty dire but hope Southwark Council can now realise that most parks/public places need suitable toilets and give them a bit of a make-over! There used to be so many public toilets in Southwark parks. Then again I can remember visiting the public toilets that used to be in Camberwell in the 1970s/1980s.
  14. RIP Dame Vera Lynn. I think there should be a statue dedicated to her.
