Can anyone recommend a taxi firm for me and Bubs?
kittysailing replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
hi ruth For Black Cabs I always use 02075615090 you can book (and pay) the night before - always bang on time black cabs. Camberwell Cars take your carseat back to their office but its a bit of a pain picking it up. x -

Hi I usually do a Jamie's salmon starter - dead easy and quick but really tasty. Basically smoked salmon on a bed of watercress with a horseradish, craime fraiche and lemon juice dressing. Served on a big platter with crusty bread and butter. Yum.

Recommendations for a paediatrician
kittysailing replied to kittysailing's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks ladies for all your advice ans stories. Very reassuring. The overiding feeling seems to be - they all get there in the end! -
Our one year old little boy has dropped 4 centiles since he was born and our health visitor has referred us to a dietician. He's happy and healthy and meeting all his milestones but we feel we'd like some reassurance from a paediatrician to rule out any underlying issues. We've been told it could take up to eight weeks and are considering paying for a consultation with a private paediatrician. Has any one got any experience of this - are their specific ones who specialise in weight gain? How much should we expect to pay? Are we then stuck in the private system? I fluctuate between my own instinct which is telling me he's just a very active little monkey with a fast metabolism and the anxiety of wondering if there is an underlying issue which needs to be explored. All advice from you lovely wise ladies welcome!

i received a gorgeous personalised graphic print with the date of birth of my babe and name and weight - very cool framed. It came from london basd family run art studio ruka-ruka.com . They do a lovely personalised London scene print too. I've bought two for friends and they were delighted.

What was your best new baby present?
kittysailing replied to bli's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I can second the 'cook' suggestion. My husbands work sent us a big box of lovely frozen food the day we came out of hospital. It really was a lifesaver in those early days - nothing like a delicious pudding to get you through a hectic day. You can order online - it all comes boxed up - we went on to order a couple of times. -
Hi all - am planning a naming ceremony for little one in August. Ive never been to one! Has anyone out there either thrown one or been to one? Any ideas or tips? Thanks folks. x

Hi folks - does anyone have a holiday cottage or can anyone recommend a holiday cottage to rent for weekend use within a couple of hours of ED? Longing for country weekend escapes country walks and pubs!

Albany home births suspended?
kittysailing replied to sillywoman's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi yes its true. I'm booked with them and had a phone call yesterday. It's really sad as they are fantastic. You still have the option of going into hospital with your Albany midwife. Or you can book with one of the other local ones who do homebirths. I'm in a dilemma. Want a homebirth but want the midwife from Albany who I've seen for the last 8 months. Is anyone else in a similar position? If you go to Brielrly or Lanes do you know which midwife it will be in advance? -
Hi Hayley I'm expecting my first baby in November too! I too am thinking of going back to work in June/July I am based near the Villa Nursery in Camberwell - they take kids after two but told me they can't take names til the baby is born! I am thinking of a childminder before then and would be interested in talking more. All the best. K
