Was he feeling uncomfortable because a woman had given up her seat for him and he was suggesting the little blighters should stand up for their mother? Or was he just a grumpster? I would have said. ' I don't think they'll be able to keep on their feet with these crazy drivers '- thus neatly diverting him onto another grumpathon.

I was walking down Bellenden Road the other day when 2 young teenagers came towards me pointing two very real looking toy guns ( machine gun and a pistol to be precise) one pointed it straight at my toddler in a sideways gangsta style pose - boy I more than glared I can tell you. I grabbed the guns off them and threw them on the floor (the guns not the kids) and shouted very loudly that they must never do that again. They looked shocked and sheepish and slinked off. If a child does something unacceptable and the parents aren't there to reprimand them I think one is perfectly within their rights to glare or shout. I was shouted at by adults as a kid when I was out of line. What's the world come to when glaring at a child is seen as somehow unacceptable?

I need a group of breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding mums!
kittysailing replied to emc's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hear hear ruth. I am a slacker and the hassle of bottles cleaning teats sterilisers measuring stuff and all that malarky was so unappealing and frankly unnatural to me that I stuck with breastfeeding against hv advice ( he wasn't following the right line in that damn book) it is of course a personal choice but I've never understood the 'it's more convenient to bottle feed' argument. If granny wants a go express into a bottle. -

Thanks so much for that Fushia - one more - when will I need to apply for the school place?
-
Forgive me good people of the family room for I am bad at maths and have also received conflicting info from the council.. My little baba was born Novemember '09 - when will he start school - Reception class not preschool. Does every primary school have a pre school? When do they start that? Do private nurseries offer the free hours you receive once they are 3ish? Ie the Villa. Thanks in advance for all your wisdom. Fushia I nearly pm'd you directly as I know your brilliant at all this stuff - it felt a little presumptuous having only virtually 'met' you!

I didn't even know what was on trend when I had my baby - inwent to dulwich park when i was seven months pregnant and knackered and stopped eight different women with eight different prams and babies and asked if could push them around! There was no contest - the only one that didn't seem like a rickety bone shaker was the chameleon. I remember asking the lady to spell it and i wrote it on my hand! Once a year bugaboo do a warehouse sale in vauxhall it's all last seasons colours etc (god forbid) up to 70 per cent off - worth looking out for!

The wooden circle outdoor playgroup
kittysailing replied to kittysailing's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi all just a quick reminder that the wooden circle outdoor playgroup will be meeting this Thursday in Warwick Gardens from 2.30 - 4.00 all babies and toddlers welcome. Bring a blanket and some nibbles! -
Think carefully about the lifestyle you lead. If your mainly in town then the bugaboo bee is great. If your out and about in the countryside/beaches/snow then the chameleon is a really good option. It can handle long walks on roughish terrain. Good allrounder. If your in and out of cars you really want one that pops up and down easily. The chameleon would be a hassle to go in and out of a car on a daily basis. The car issue leads us to the pram issue's inevitable final destination.. The Maclaran! Would say most people end up there! They are great from around the time baby is sitting up (6 months) but you can get the more expensive version which lies totally flat so good from birth. Basically the baby lies flat for first six months which is why people like the ones with bassinet snuggly type affairs - they are only really in that for first 4/5 months then they get cross and want to see out! Good luck!

Backache in pregnancy, whine moan groan.
kittysailing replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi Ruth I moaned about back ache when I was pregnant and dh came back from work with a sausage pillow in his sticky mitt. It really helped me- it's now gathering dust on top of wardrobe you're welcome to use it. I also went to the osteopath he clicked me right up until the day before intact birth (seems to be quite proud of this fact) he's at London bridge if you want his number. X
