If anyone out there gets a call from these people and is able to PM me or post on this thread immediately with a street and a time (if I'm online) I'll be on my bike and straight over. I'll watch them from a distance and call the police. I want to catch these thieving buggers!!!!!

Just waited 50 minutes for a 40. No show! The man at Transport for London says they're delayed. Does he mean forever? No trains to London Bridge either!!! What a shambles!!!! Looks like a night in :-(

Cora & Pinz:- Not only did they tell me the sponsored walk was due to take place last weekend (4th or 5th) in Dulwich Park but also invited me along to watch!!! Pinz, what part of East Dulwich were they operating in?

sambless:- I have been scammed on the doorstep before so why did I hand over a tenner this time? A young well-dressed asian family knocked on the door - husband?, wife?, two 8 year old? girls - they were very polite, confident and believable. They told me what they were doing, I looked at the sponsorship form and all looked very genuine. I suppose I could have witheld my sponsorship money until they had completed the walk giving me time to make checks but right now I still don't know if they were genuine. Perhaps I shouldn't hand money over to anybody that 'rattles a tin' on the doorstep from now on. Moos:- You're right I was lounged but haven't a clue why. I can understand threads about Glastonbury, Kite surfing and Reggae residing next to the sofa but a topic that relates directly to East Dulwich and perhaps helping to prevent a local crime should be up there with the petrol thefts, strange beeps and how many houses Foxtons have sold :-)

Two adults and two children came to my door this afternoon asking for sponsorship for a walk in taking place in Dulwich Park on Sunday. I looked at the forms and asked a few questions and was happy to hand over a tenner. It all looked genuine enough except the woman told me that the school/club organising the event - fundraising for the Japanese Tsunami - was called Colwell. I Googled it and nothing came up! Anyone else get a call? Anyone else heard about the sponsored walk? Have I been conned by a family - surely not!! * My previous post was removed with no explanation! How can this sort of post offend? I'd like to know!!! *

An Asian family called at my door this afternoon seeking sponsorship for a school walk to be held in Dulwich Park this Sunday. They told me that they were raising money for the Japanese tsunami and I was happy to hand over a tenner. I asked the usual questions, looked at the form and the fact that they seemed nice people made me feel that this was genuine. However, I'm sure the lady said the girls went to Colwell. Is there a Colwell school/club in East Dulwich? Are there any parents out there that know about this charity event or have I be conned?

Hi Ann I've been into both 1 and 3 Matham Grove and seen that door between the two houses. Like you, I immediately wanted to know why it was there :-) It was boarded over and plastered many years ago when the house was refurbished as two flats. Parking in Matham Grove used to be easy! The history goes like this; Introduction of Bus Lane along Lordship Lane, the conversion of empty properties above shops on Lordship Lane (many were empty but now converted to two flats a piece), and the re-routing of the 37 bus to the end of East Dulwich Grove. (Double yellow lines from Lordship Lane down to Derwent Grove and beyond on one side) It?s no wonder parking has become difficult. Who are ?these people? who clog up Matham Grove? Residents, traders and shoppers! Generally over night we have 5 or 6 spaces. In the morning some residents drive off to work and the spaces are filled with traders (including banks, estate agents etc). During the day residents come and go and so do shoppers. Throughout the day the chefs, waiters and delivery boys arrive and they stay until around midnight. Around 6pm the shopkeepers lock up, the residents return and that?s it! No free spaces!! Looking up my street now I can see 32 cars. 16 belong to residents, 11 belong to shopkeepers, (including 7 estate agents) and 5 unknown to me. I guess that many of the other streets off Lordship Lane follow a similar pattern. I?m not convinced that our problems are down to commuters. Everybody wants to park close to their home but before we start to think about CPZs some serious research needs to go into the cause of our problems and the benefits that CPZ will bring us, if any, apart from being lighter in the pocket.

I'm sure someone must have mentioned this site before. You can track actual flights over East Dulwich, usually with a 1 day security delay. Details include:- Flight id, Aircraft type, speed, height and the colour of the pilot's pajamas. It sounds like Madger and I live fairly close to each other. I can confirm that the behaviour of some people between midnight and 3.00 am has rapidly deteriorated. Since the Boho bar has opened drinkers regularly come into our side street to:- ? Urinate up against the side wall/behind cars. ? Throw up in private gardens and on the footpath. ? Throw fast food and the packaging onto the street. ? Sit on our walls in small groups, make noise and drink, often leaving the empties. (Our front gardens are almost non-existant!) ? Sit in cars, with the doors open, and take substances. ? Congregate in large groups, shout and scream at each other, like drunks only can, before moving on. About a month ago, just after midnight, a small group of people sat on my neighbours wall about 5 yards from where I was sitting watching tv. Because the TV is next to the bay window I could not avoid watching them drink, eat fast food, jump up and down and make loads of noise. I went to bed when one of the party started to throw up all over the pavement with the usual ?Bert? and ?Hughie? noises. No double glazing here :-( Next morning discarded boxes, bottles and sick lay on the pavement. Perhaps the 'bouncers' at the Boho should patrol the first 15 yards of our street. They don't like the drunks in - we don't like them out!

What's so sad Mike? A lady leaves her (probably expensive) pushchair on the side of the road by mistake and drives home. A day later she discovers her error. A passer-by takes the push chair thinking it has been dumped. She checks on the forum just to be sure. Between us we manage to get the pushchair back to the rightful owner. Now I make this a very HAPPY HAPPY story. How come you don't? Please explain!

Hi Yesterday a lady approached me to ask if I had seen her buggy. Three wheels I think. She left it at the junction of Lordship Lane and Matham Grove on Thursday by accident. Unfortunately there is a pile of rubbish at this point, beds, matresses etc. all dumped by the Pistachio Club restaurant. It looked as though the pushchair was also dumped. On Friday morning, about 10.30 I saw a man load the pushchair into his boot. I'm sure he also thought it was dumped. Anyway................The lady who has lost the pushchair would like to have it back and I have her phone number if we are talking about the same pushchair.

Hi James Fred Ricketts is right to 'jump up and down' about the continual leaving of rubbish outside of the Somerfields store. It is a constant eyesore. Not 20 paces from the 'Somerfield dump' we also experience the constant dumping of rubbish at the junction of Matham Grove and Lordship Lane on a daily basis. Black plastic bags along with old furniture, plus the fact that the two restaurants at the end of the street fail to maintain the exterior of their bins make for an unsightly, often smelly area that we all must walk past, at close proximity, to access Lordship Lane. The rubbish is being dumped by some of the residents of the flats above 34 ? 44 Lordship Lane. It has been going on for 4 years and I have a good collection of photographs to prove it. I have sent many letters and photographs to the various council departments asking for action but still it continues. In particular I wrote to the Planning Department asking for copies of the Planning Documents and the arrangements for the storing of domestic refuse at 38. (This was the first building to be granted planning permission for conversion into 2 flats in the block.) They were deliberately obstructive refusing me access to the documents with a variety of excuses. After 4 or 5 attempts I gave up but believe that the planning process was not followed. Can I demand to see the relevant documents under the Freedom of Information Act?

Sorry Gimme...You're not quite right there! We live less than 20 metres from Lordship Lane, probably in your street, and since the opening of the Boho Bar we now witness, on a regular basis, men urinating against the back/side door of the Day Lewis Chemist/Threshers Wine Shop.

I booked at table for the Tim Van Eyken night, at the bar, in the EDT weeks before the gig. When we arrived there was no record of our reservation. After a bit of a fuss a new table was erected and we got to eat. A month ago I went up to the restaurant to book a table for the Jackie Oates night. I saw the owner and watched her write my name and phone number in the diary. What could possibly go wrong? - - - - She closed the restaurant for the summer and chose not to tell me. If my guests and I had arrived at the EDT tonight, hungry and very disappointed, there is a slim chance that I may have set the building on fire and had a barbecue instead! Fotunately I am on the 'Goose' mailing list and was forewarned. The restaurant didn't know that though!!

There is a stray black cat that feeds regularly at my neighbours house at 1 Matham Grove. You could call round and ask her about it. Her name is Liz.

TfL introduced bus lanes, millions more buses, oyster cards and bendy buses that you can bunk on so that your journey to Old Street takes 1.5 hours!!! Ha!!!! I'd buy a BMW X6 gas guzzler if I were you.
