  1. Dunno if it was the same people but was anyone else kept awake by a very very noisy party that my neighbours threw last night (corner CP Rd and North X Rd)? I know, I know, it's a saturday night and it's summer, but they didn't warn me (or invite me!) and I had to get up early this morning. Bah humbug etc.
  2. Thank you for this thread. Reading this has been a timely reminder for me not to take ANY chances when cycling. I often run along the left hand side of traffic when on my bike, i know i shouldn't but it seems the easiest thing to do sometimes. I'm so sorry for this woman who died, and her family.
  3. Southwark do pick up large items. If you go on to Southwark Council's website there's a form you fill in online (I think it's under the environment section) and they'll get back to you by email and send you the date when you have to put your item out by. Last time I did this they weren't able to pick it up for about 2 weeks though, so get your request in in good time. Cheers Busybee
  4. Really sorry to hear this and I'm glad you're OK. I used to use that route too, sometimes after dark, but was put off by a group of youths who sometimes hung around by that square (this was a couple of years ago) and it just felt quite threatening. Now I prefer to take my chances on the Walworth Rd. Buses or not, it's always well lit and there are plenty of people around going about their business. I hardly ever use cycle routes now. The other thing that bugs me about them is that so many of them go along quite poorly maintained roads and you're so shaken up by the end of your journey with all the potholes and whatnot!
  5. Asset and LostThe Plot, thanks for the info about pedal clips. Very interesting. Maybe one day soon I'll pluck up the courage to try them out!
  6. I only cycle as far as KCH so i reckon i've got the easiest commute of you all ;-) Going up DKH certainly wakes me up for the day ahead!!! Everyone overtakes me though! I reckon those pedal clip thingies would help but I'm worried about falling off when I stop... If I cycle into town I used to use the cycle routes, but i gave up on them pretty quickly and prefer to take my chances on the main roads now. I'd say pedestrians behave slightly more carefully / predictably on main roads.... My only accident was on a cycle route when a toddler ran out in front of me and we both ended up in a crumpled heap. We were both OK but it was the final straw for me.
  7. I'm new to East Dulwich and the forum. Would love to come along. How will I recognise you all .... is there a secret code ... do i have to wear a red carnation or a flatcap..?
