  1. I'm not sure about the decluttering/preparation side either. I think I'd feel a little uncomfortable having a stranger involved at this very personal time. I don't know how much could be achieved in 1-2 hours anyway. The food service sounds more promising- though you'd have stiff competition from cook, sainsbury's etc. If I can tempt you away from food and into fashion - I think there is a huge gap in the market for a maternity clothes exchange round here. I asked the owner of 'give and take' whether she'd consider having a maternity section and she said rather bluntly 'no' which I think is a huge oversight. Good luck and maybe see you on dragons' den soon!
  2. I was induced a year ago today at kings and they were using a newish pessary system called propess which is a bit like a tampon and wraps around the cervix. This is meant to be better than th traditional pessaries as it continues working for 24 hours.they like to take things as slowly and 'naturally' as possible and so will often repeat the pessary rather than moving onto an oxytocin infusion. Also You cannot have the infusion unless your waters have broken. if you do need to have the infusion you may want to consider having an epidural first as they can be quite intense. I don't have the best induction story as ended up having an emergency c section - but I was induced for being post dates so a totally different scenario. Baby was in an occiput-posterior position and had a big head and hadn't descended well so it was really a non starter. Good luck and don't worry too much - you'll be well looked after.
  3. Another Anita bra fan here - I lived in them along with the bravado seamless cropped tops.
  4. We flew short haul with BA earlier in the year and they stored our maclaren in one of the wardrobes in business class. It was great having the buggy at the gate on arrival and so am definitely going to ask in the future if there's room. Not sure they'd squeeze in a bugaboo though!
  5. Must be something in the air as miss jb did exactly the same thing a couple of nights ago. She wailed for an hour and fought me when I tried to cuddle her. She wouldn't make eye contact or interact - it was really strange. In the end I took her downstairs and walked her around in the dark which seemed to calm her. I did wonder whether it was a night terror but I now think that something may have been brewing as she is now covered in spots and has been sent home from nursery!
  6. My sister has been there with her 4 and 6 year old daughters and they had all really enjoyed it. I think 'peppa pig world' was only a section of the park and so there were loads of activities for older children too. http://www.peppapigworld.co.uk/
  7. I bought some loungewear yoga bottoms from gap - they were really useful during the end of my pregnancy and for the postnatal period. I wore them in hospital with vest tops with buttons. For labour I ignored the advice of the forum and treated myself to a ?20 number from debenhams (designers of course) - got soaked when my waters were broken and so ended up in a gown fairly early on. On the blood and gore side - my surgical stockings were a complete state the morning after my section - so I binned them after my shower. I asked for a clean pair and the midwife told me that I shouldn't have thrown them away but washed them out instead!
  8. And remember that the shops will still be there after bub arrives- all you really need for the first few days are baby grows and nappies (and of course lanisoh cream and maternity pads for you) I went crazy and bought loads of things I didn't ever use. Best of luck
  9. I stopped a couple of weeks ago when miss Jb was 10 1/2 months. It was strange - I felt very emotional initially but after 48 hours or so I felt fine. Miss jb doesn't seem to have really noticed either. I too was worried about the comfort aspect. I hadn't realised how much I was still settling her with the boob until I stopped. The night settling does take longer but she does settle after a little back rub and in a way it's given me more confidence knowing that she will go back to sleep without a feed. My breasts were painful for 3 or 4 days - I didn't need to resort to cabbage leaves or anything. Almost as soon as I had posted a thread on here about this did the engorgement subside! Good luck and hope it all goes well. For me it really feels like we have moved onto a new chapter. Just need to survive my return to work on Thursday.
  10. I'd third the jojo maman baby fleece snowsuits. Miss jb was super cosy in hers. She also had a more heavy duty one - a quilted down one - which we used during the snow and if carrying her in a sling. Mr jb is also aussie and is verging on obsessive about her getting too cold. Just this morning he said to me 'I think we need to get her winter clothing out!'. Grandma jb was even worse. She stayed with us during the snow last year and being a queenslander hadn't seen snow for 26 years. She kept sneaking on additional layers Thay I had to remove when she wasn't looking!
  11. I think you can get them in then chemist's on north cross road
  12. Well it sounds like he's having a reasonable balance of daytime/nighttime feeds. I can remember miss jb's nappies being very wet at that time settling down around weaning when her liquid intake reduced. Have you tried going up a nappy size or switching brands. I think I switched to huggies at nighttime for a few weeks
  13. How much does he drink during the day? Could you try increasing his daytime milk and gradually reducing the amount he has for his dreamfeed? Not suggesting that you Should starve the poor yaklet for the sake of a wet nappy though!
  14. Homemade by far - and I've eaten a lot of carrot cake over the past 12 months
  15. This thread is making me cross my legs!
  16. Now when on holiday in France this Year I came across designated bays for pregnant women . . . Gasp! Can you imagine if we had these in ED sainsbos they'd need to use half the car park. They also had signs by the disabled bays which read 'if you take my space you can take my disability too' which I thought was pretty good.
  17. My stepsister has just completed her 2nd year of nursing training after spending 10 years or so working in the design industry. She is loving it and very happy that she made the change.
  18. So are we saying that emc should get rid of her cat and get a dog?
  19. No the cats just didn't like the supposed treats . . . Dogs will eat anything!
  20. I like the design - rather farrow and ball
  21. Thanks ladies. Things are feeling a little more comfortable this evening so hopefully I'll doing a Kate rather than a sanity girl!
  22. She's playing with you. She knows perfectly well how to use the flap already. She's just being a typical cat and won't perform on command.
  23. I stopped feeding Miss JB over over the weekend (her last feed was on Sat am) and am in agony! She was only having 1 or 2 breast feeds a day before this (she's 10 1/2 months) and so I thought it wouldn't be too painful. How wrong was I? From my extensive Internet research I see that expressing is a big no no but my right breast feels like it is going to explode. Will I really be prolonging things if I express 20 -30 mls or so? Aaargh.
  24. Miss JB was like this too. . She sounded like a farmyard. In the end we had to move her out of our room! And yes she did grow out of it
  25. I'm cool but not creative - does that count?!
