Well there you go, chuck in a bit of cannibalism and I think we're done.

They all emigrated :) My Great Grandfather packed his bags in his 20's and ended up in New Zealand after a stint in South Africa (where he met his wife, also Scottish). Don't hold it against me though.... What they need is something to up the profile a bit, a Scottish version of Father Ted maybe? They have booze and funny accents at least.

Been living on Barry Rd for about 6 months and never seen one either.

Didn't quite a bit of funding for the IRA come from the States, namely those who claim to be 'Irish Americans', or is that just an urban myth?

Not to mention that their so called 'boycotts' are pretty lame, with the whole 'freedom fries' thing they didn't actually stop eating them, just renamed them. What did they seriously expect the French to do? Say "sacre bleu, the Americans have stopped calling their fried chips 'French Fries', we don't actually make them in France or get any money for the name 'French Fry' but we better bow to their demands and fall to our knees to kiss their feet"

Ah yes, the 'beautiful game', can't say watching it make me want to rush into the streets and start smacking people about the head or throw bricks through windows, then again I'm not a fan of warm ale and don't speak the Queens English, must be cos I'm a dirty foreigner, innit. Some people are just looking for excuses to have a rumble, I heard one fella on the radio today proudly proclaiming how he and his mates traveled down from Manchester for the sole reason they heard there would be trouble and wanted to be part of it. Knob heads.

Sorry, I was meaning more of leaderboard type games, I just meant that Battlefield had encouraged me to get onto xbox live (I was a big fan of Battlefield 2 on the PC back in NZ) so would be interested in seeing what other games are on offer, and if people are keen to start some sort of local leaderboard count me in :) As for team play in Battlefield, personally I find the lack of being able to type messages a bit of a drawback, still it's loads of fun for a casual game.

lol, love it, my kind of review. And why is East Dulwich further north than North Dulwich....or am I just being picky?

Could be up for that, just been getting into xbox live through my one month trail and 1943, am very tempted to continue it on when it runs out next week. What games did you have in mind? Hudson NZ

I drive around London a lot in my day to day work and am also amazed at the amount of red light running by both cars and cycles, several times a day I get cyclist running red lights out of side streets and then looking shocked that there is actually traffic heading towards them from the other direction. On the same note I had a white van driver honking his horn at me yesterday for not running the lights as they when from orange to red as we approached them. Maybe we should put all red light runners in a special part of the city and let natural selection sort em out.

We could hear it from our place on Barry Road, mainly just from our bedroom which overlooks the backgardens of Landells/Barry Road. Seemed to be in full swing when we got home from U2, but still managed to get to sleep later on although I kept getting woken every now and then by some lound lass, probably whenever she went out for a smoke or something. If it happened all the time I wouldn't be happy about it but a loud party once in a while is fair enough.

and no one can catch flies with chopsticks like Miyagi, he's a waxing, painting, fly catching machine.

I've only just started to watch series 1 & 2, having seen a few odd episodes every now and then, but I'd agree that the 5-parter this week puts the program on a whole new level, some of the best TV I've seen in a long time. With 6 million viewers each night I presume they will be making more too, hopefully as good.

Poor TV reception in ED, is Freesat the answer?
EDKiwi replied to Jamma's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
hmmm...yes thinking about it more it depends what exactly is in the way, generally speaking you need line-of-sight to the tv transmitter so if you're in a valley or have a hill (or great big tower block) in the way it will not help matters at all. I'd say if your neighbours still have trouble even with an external aerial then freesat may well be the way to go. -

EDKiwi replied to Jamma's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
TV reception should be pretty good in ED, the TV transmitters are on the big tower in Crystal Palace, so out door antennas should be fine, or try pointing your indoor antenna in the same direction, although if there are a few walls in way (between the indoor antenna and the crystal palace side of your house) reception may not be too good. Another alternative is getting an indoor antenna with a built in amplifier, I got a cheap one from Woolworths (not that that helps now) when I lived in a dodgy reception area a while back and it made a big improvement. -
Next time the cone is out move it to another free parking spot further along the road and see how they react to that :)
